What can I/can't I sell?

NCT Nearly New Sales act as an agent between buyers
and sellers. NCT does not take any responsibility for the
goods sold. NCT cannot be held responsible for any loss
or damage to items at the venue. Items are left at
owners’ risk.
All items brought to the sale must be:
• Clean.
• Good quality including safety instructions where
possible.
• In working order with no broken parts, sharp edges or
tears.
• Safe, fit for their intended purpose and as described.
• Where possible, please include product instructions or
where to find them on the internet.
• All electrical items (anything with a plug) must be
Portable Appliance Tested (PAT) by a qualified
electrician. NCT does not endorse the testing or the
product.

Things we do not want – please do not bring the
following to sell at an NCT Nearly New Sale:
• Recalled items – please do not bring any item that has
been recalled by the manufacturer. Here is a link to
recent recalls, but please be aware this list is not
exhaustive.
http://www.tradingstandards.uk/advice/advice-recall-
list.cfm.

items at an NCT Nearly New Sale due to risk of safety
and hygiene.
• Bednest cribs, even with a modification kit.
Please read this IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING if you
own a Bednest crib

an elasticated edge.
• Baby hammocks.
• Cot bumpers.
• Car seats, car booster seats, related bases or car seats
from travel systems.

Any Maclaren buggies prior to 2009 need a safety hinge -
please contact Maclaren
http://www.shopmaclarenbaby.com to obtain this, to
enable you to sell your buggy.

Things sellers MUST consider when selling the
following:
• Cosmetic products - these are only suitable for selling if
unopened, originally for sale in the UK and before their
use by date.
• Second Hand Slings (not bag-style slings, which have a
deep pouch and an elasticated edge) - please include
instructions where possible and put this disclaimer on
the sling.
“This sling/carrier is second-hand and the purchaser
should check the sling thoroughly and satisfy
themselves that it is safe, before use. If this sling is
being sold without the manufacturers’ instructions, we
recommend you contact the manufacturer and obtain
the correct instructions for this sling to ensure you are
using it correctly and safely.”
Clean, excellent quality items such as baby & children’s
clothes and footwear, children’s toys, books & equipment,
maternity wear, children’s bedding, and parenting books
can all be sold.

The following items can also be sold, provided they meet
the requirements:
• Children’s Toys (if safe, complete and in good working
order) If a toy requires batteries, please ensure they are

there, brakes work, folding mechanisms work, 5 point
harness
present, steering is ok and general condition is suitable
for sale. If you have not folded your buggy for a while,
have a go
before you arrive J
• Upholstered furniture, including cots and highchairs,

include
them in the Sale and return them to you.

How do I label my items?

Here are some suggested prices:

Prams/pushchairs - £20-£70
Maternity wear - £3-£8
Travel cots - £10-£20
Outdoor toys - £4-£20
Babygym - £3-£8
Children’s clothes - £0.50-£5

Ultimately think about how much you’d be willing to pay.

• Put high ticket prices in words as well as numbers on
the tickets to avoid confusion.
• Price in nominals of 50p only!
• When labelling shoes, please attach the label to the
shoes themselves, and not the box.
• Only attach price tickets with safety pins at the top of
the ticket or 1 strip of sellotape at the top of the ticket to
make the
ticket easy to remove at the tills. This enables us to deal
with items quickly and also ensures there is no damage
to the
ticket so it can be processed easily and you get your
money! Items with tickets attached with dress pins will
not be sold.

Pre-drop off checklist

I have:
o Read these instructions carefully (you would be
surprised how easy it is to miss things!)
o Labelled all of my items according to the instructions,
and completed the inventory
o Bagged my items according to size and gender (eg. All
girls 12-18 months bagged together), smaller bags can
then all
be put into one big bin liner
o Included instructions for buggies etc
o Placed the inventory in the provided poly pocket ready
to hand in at seller drop off

Please note:

We are unable to return hangers or bags/boxes used for
drop off

FINALLY – We have enclosed some flyers for the sale for
you to display. Please encourage your friends,
colleagues,
family and anyone you meet with a bump, baby or child
to come and shop! The more shoppers there are on the
day
means more sold items and a fantastic fundraising
outcome for the NCT. We would love all our sellers to
collect an empty
bag on Saturday afternoon

Registration has now closed.
