Two strangers, six weeks, the social experiment says the odds are in their favor, Violet and Lane might just prove them wrong.

To say Lane Cooper simply broke my heart is letting him off easy. Our breakup was one for the ages, complete with roaring shouting matches, eviscerated feelings, and the hostile exchange of belongings via our best friends. Of course, I did my part in the aftermath and unfollowed him on all social media sites as the ultimate kiss off. I don’t want Lane anywhere near my radar ever again.

Violet Hathaway was the love of my life until the night we unraveled faster than a second-hand sweater. I wasn’t going to enroll in Dexter Houston’s social experiment that’s shaking up the campus but in the name of research, and given the fact my coach coerced the entire team to sign up, I’m in for whatever sin Dexter throws our way. But when my assignment consists of confronting an ex in front of a live audience I have serious regrets for ever penning my name on the dotted line. And working to reconnect for weeks afterwards? Not happening. But if Vi isn’t backing down then neither am I. And at exactly seven o’ clock in the University auditorium, Violet and I are going to get one last moment in the sun. Here’s hoping I don’t get burned. I’m still not over the first fire we walked through.

Just why

I hate young adult novels normally but this one had so many good reviews. I totally hated it. I hated Lane. I don't believe he loved Violet at all. He was moving on before they ever broke up. Yes there is a little twist About it but he flunked the test. I understood Violet. She was insecure and wasn't sure he loved her. She thought he was cheating because of her issues yes but he could have tried harder. And he moved on and slept with other women after the break up. I know that's not technically cheating but its a trigger for me. If he really loved her he should have done everything possible to prove himself as a committed guy. She didn't sleep with anyone else of course. i just hate this trope in second chance romances. Break up, Move On repeat. but just the guy. I don't think their relationship will last. The writing was okay but its definitely not for me. Such a bummer. And I don't think he was a swoony hero at all. Immaturity and juvenile behavior abounds. Duh. Just sorry I read it

This has to be a 2:5 star review from me!

The first one (in this series) was alright but I wasn’t in love with it....but I think I liked it more that “Bitter exes”

Which is such a shame because I was intrigued by their story! An ex is an ex for a reason right? So what would have to happen for you to try again?

This could have been great, but I think to much attention was put on chemistry, when it should have been put on their emotional connection!

And all their little chats about the past were predominantly about their chemistry (with a bit on romance on the side) there was no real depth!

They tell each other they love each other sooner than I liked (I know there’s history) but wouldn’t that make you more hesitant to rush right in?

This may just be a pet peeve of mine but It ended at 50% on my kindle, Does that bug anyone else too? I know I got a complete story but I still feel short changed, I can get samples of other books from Amazon if I wanted them. I don’t need it stuck on the back end of what I’m reading!

I was hopeful that when the social experiment part ended at 50% that the second part of the book was were we found the true depth but 3% later and it’s all over!

I’m not sure if I’ll check out Embers story or not, I’ll have to wait for reviews to come out I think!

It was okay. I like Lane and Vi, but I'm not a fan of all the slut-shaming. But then again, I've noticed that is a common thread among Addison Moore's books. I'm just not about that whole "crazy ho-bag" trope (Becca) and even the way they talk about Ember's roommate. Like, why is this such a thing.

Welcome to the next segment of The Social Experiment, or TSE. The focus this time is bitter exes and that's exactly what Violet and Lane are at the beginning.

Violet Hathaway and Lane Cooper have been broken up for a year. When the new segment of TSE throws them back together, the old feelings come back. Maybe they never went away. As they are forced to relive some of the worst times of their lives, Vi realizes how big a part she actually played in the demise of their relationship. Can they overcome everything and finally have their happily ever after?

I loved this book!! Violet and Lane are amazing characters and there is so much depth to them. I didn't want the book to end. Their story is so emotional and you can feel their love for each other.

It was nice seeing glimpses of Sophie and Rowan from the first book and their other friend, Ember. I can't wait to see if Ember finds her true love in the next segment of The Social Experiment.

Absolutely incredible!! I loved Vi and Lane! The Social Experiment series is such a new and exciting experience! Bitter Exes is exactly what Vi and Lane were until this experiment throws them together and neither can back down. I admire a couple that will hash it out and talk rather than push it aside and live with hate. No matter who tries to get in their way Vi and Lane are determined to see this experiment through! Addison Moore is a mastermind for coming up with this idea for a series! I love the characters ,test, and the questions and answers they reveal! I'm so hoping that Ember will be next! That little firecracker is hilarious!

1.5 stars.

This one was *somehow* better than the first one. I don't know how. I don't know, I suppose that I liked the main characters, Violet and Lane, and tad bit better than Sophie and Rowen.

To be honest, I just read this because I had nothing else to read at the time.

But honestly, the continuous slut-shaming, and this weird thing the author seems to have overly protective older brother (I checked the third and last book of the series- the female protagonist also has a weird, over-protective older brother who liked to act like a weird dad and get involve in their 'baby' sister's love life, even though he's only a couple of years older than her and sleeps around with girls/dates 'hoes'), and also this REALLY WEIRD AND CREEPY thing about wanting to portray the female characters' fathers as these REALLY attractive old men, basically a DILF. So yea- not a fan.
Other than that, there is that repetitive theme of forced or stupid 'hate' that the FP has for the MP just to create that 'love-hate' relationship. Also, I noticed that, even in this book, the author added the 'accidentally hitting the MP in the balls during first time sex', I guess she thought it was funny. But that's just... weird (again).

I really don't recommend this book. It's bad and toxic and disgusting and is an all-white-attractive cast, where-the-girls-don't-realise-how-stunning-they-are-and-the-guys-are-the-IT-BOY-of-some-sport-or-program.

3.48 ★★★☆☆

《 Plot 》
The Social Experiment (TSE) makes a come back in this book once again but with different concept from the previous group, Group A. The second book shines the light on Group B with Bitter Exes as the concept. TSE is a love experiment created by Dexter Houston that has turned into a TV reality show. Their motto is ‘Two people, six weeks. The odds are in their favor!’.

Violet has been doing her very best to avoid her ex, Lane since their break up. Lately, it seems like luck is not on her side as she keeps seeing Lane everywhere on the campus. Violet felt extremely unlucky when she finds out her partner for TSE is Lane because both of them are in Group B. Violet decides to take the challenge when she hears Lane agrees to take part.

It’s being told from both Violet’s and Lane’s point of view alternatively.

《 Characters 》
Violet Hathaway, the female lead
Violet’s character is somehow a bit complicated for me to talk without giving away spoiler. She can be seen as someone who wants to protect her own dignity from her action in the previous book. In this book, I feel like there are some secrets hidden between Violet and Lane regarding their relationship.

Lane Cooper, the male lead
In the first book, Lane is painted as an extremely bad guy by Violet. However, in this book Lane is able to tell his side of story. Lane probably has some of his fault but he is not as bad as how Violet paints him as.

《 Pros & Cons 》
Not much dirty talk
↳ This book is definitely better for me as it is more focus on the story of Lane and Violet, what happened between them. Rather than some nonsense, insignificant dirty thoughts or talks thrown all over the pages. There are still some of them but at a bearable amount.

Reality of students’ life
↳ I doubt it does justice to how actually campus life work. One second they were like “I can't skip class to repeat another year” and the next they were already “We skipped classes because we want to be together”. My, what an easy university life you're living there. Can we switch place?

《 Extras 》
I'm glad my decision to continue reading this series paid off. It's a standalone series. Although there are characters from the previous book appearing in this book, it is not heavily connected with this one. You can understand just fine but if you want full exposure on their life, feel free to read from the start. I can see the story improving by focusing on the important things which is about their issue in the relationship.

Here are some quotes I loved.

“Sometimes a couple of seemingly wrong moves can lead to the right one.”

“Yes, we were close to the abyss, but we hadn’t set our feet over the edge yet. There was still hope for us. We might have been fragile, but we didn’t know it. There was still so much beauty around us.”

⚝ Who should read? ⚝
❥ Okay with predictable plot
❥ Want to read new adult
❥ Need a light and fast read

After reading all about Sophie’s story and being introduced to her friends I was wondering if we would get a follow-on book about Sophie’s friends because I thought they were all interesting characters. I was pleased when I picked up this Bitter Exes as I was sure that Violet’s story would be pretty kick-ass and at first, I thought that it was pretty awesome, but then as I went along I couldn’t help but take Lane’s side as honestly, he was pretty innocent in all of this. In the beginning, I was completely on Violet’s side and could understand why she had such a broken heart a year on from the break up, yet as I got further into the book and got the picture of both sides I found myself thinking that she needed to grow up a lot. If she really didn’t give a damn about him then she would have just put her feelings to the side and just got on with the experiment instead of wearing her heart on her sleeve. I thought the who idea of this story had such great potential and I did enjoy it but I just couldn’t get into this one as much as I thought I would. It doesn’t mean to say that this was badly written because trust me it wasn’t. Addison’s writing is incredible, I just don’t think that this book lived up to the expectations that I had in mind. But seriously though, you should give it a try and see what you think.

When you get affected with someone else's breakup that you think your relationship cannot survive whatsoever, you do crazy things just to prove a point.

Lane and Vi were close to perfect, until Vi's live went into a tailspin. Now they're both single and end up paired to be on a campus reality show because of her love for scarves. Ha!

Six weeks. They have to work out what happened to them within that time. Do they have to end up together? Not necessarily, but let's cross our fingers! Being bitter does have it's consequences – you're bitter because you are still harboring feelings for each other.

Destiny always has a way of working itself out.

Enjoyed every single minute of this one! Both MCs have a depth to them that you just want their story to continue a bit more! You'd be flipping the pages until you realize that, boom, you're done with the book! Then you get bummed. Haha!

This might be the second book to the series but can be read as a stand alone.

Addison Moore is a new author for me for reading and with just this one book I am hooked. I was hooked within the first page. Who knew that the Social Experiment would turn out the way it did. There are a lot of crazy and wild things going on in this book and they all serve to lead you to the ending that we get with this book.

I must say I loved the boot scene is the best one in the book. Be on the lookout for it. I won't say anymore as I don't want to give away any part of the book. I would rather you read and enjoy the book as much as I did. Just know that you should get this book as soon as you can and read it. I was up most of the night reading. I could not put it down. I will be getting the first book, and can not wait for the next book to come out in this series because this Social Experiment is just exciting all around.

Hurry and get your copy now, you will not be disappointed.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ***

Of course by now, all of you know how much of a huge Addison Moore fan I am! Her 3:AM Kisses series got me hooked and then she went to the Low, Down, and Dirty Series, and now The Social Experiment Series!

Violet ....She has some hugs issues that involve her parents getting a divorce and trusting Lane. She pretty much told him to go sleep with another girl and then paid that same girl to sleep with him. OMG so much confusion, but soooo good!

Lane... So swoon-worthy! He obviously likes to mess with Violet to get he all hyped up and I totally love it. You can see how easy the two get a long and how much Violet fights Lane's charms. He cheated and she doesn't want to get over it. However, Violet was upset about her parents divorce and took it out on Lane.

This is another one of Addison Moore's must read books! Go grab your copy, some coffee, and a snuggly blanket!

Lane and Violet had a very bitter break up with lots of tension between them. They avoid each other on their small campus as much as they can. When they both agree to The Social Experiment (TSE) neither knew what to expect. During TSE they both learn about each other’s happy times and some of the not so happy times and it begins to reignite some of the feelings from the past. Will they be able to work through all of the problems that caused them to break things off? Or will the past be to much for them to overcome and most past?
Bitter Exes The Social Experiment is the second book in the Social Experiment series, and it can be read as a stand alone with out feeling lost. This is the first book of this series I have read and I am looking forward to what is to come and finding the first book and reading that to learn more about TSE.

I have been so excited to read Violet and Lane’s story. Even in the excitement it was even better than what I hyped it up to be in my head. This second chance romance leaves you with a bunch of emotions through the whole book. We find out if ex’s can really let go of the past and move on to a future or if it is impossible to let some things go. Especially when there is a complete curve ball that I didn’t see coming at all. Violet with her parents failed marriage believes nothing can work out, and Lane and his love that’s never ended keep us turning pages. Love the character dynamics between spunky friends, tough brothers, or pesky sorority girls they seem to all fit together.

Book 2 in The Social Experiment series is here and you are going to love it!

If you haven’t read book 1, it is not necessary, but Vi and Lane were both introduced and we got a tiny bit of their backstory.

Vi and Lane are exes, now paired up in the next round of The Social Experiment - Bitter Exes. It is everything you think it would be - exes getting a second chance at love.

Lane is pretty swoon worthy. Vi takes a little getting used to. I loved getting their story and seeing them get their HEA. Plus, Moore’s writing style is great, as usual, and filled with the snarky edge that I’ve come to love from her.

This is great read that will appeal to pretty much anyone!

Definitely a good read!! I loved Lane and Violet together!! Such a cute couple the second time around too!

I read the first Social Experiment book in the series and fell in love with Rowan and Sophie. They are in this one too. Sophie being Violet’s best friend and Rowan and Lane has met before too.

How do you get two bitter exes back together? You shove them in an experiment that’s how!!

When Vi and Lane’s relationships went south last year they couldn’t even talk to each other let alone see each other.

The experience made them talk things out in the open and iron things out see things in a different light.

Can’t wait for the next book!!

Well now, Lane is quite sure of himself, “funny you should say that.” His voice hits that lower octave. “I’ve got about eight solid inches I’m about to give you first.” Lane and Violet sure have some interesting moments, “I just exposed my boobs to some dude who happens to be having a very bad hair day.” I trot back to the spot where Lane lies lifeless, the girls zigzagging like they just don’t care." I liked this book, Violet was saucy and Lane oozed sexiness. They both were quite the snarky characters.

Bitter Exes (The Social Experiment) (Volume 2)
By Addison Moore. 5 Stars

Awesome doesnt even come close to describing how incrediblely turbulent and passionate this story is. Omg!!!

What a concept for a story though, a social experiment about bitter exes, priceless....

Lane and Violet's story will touch everyone who reads it. And how the author can describe it so beautifully

I have voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book by its author.

Addison Moore writes one of my favorite series! 3am Kisses!!! The Social Experiment series is such a fun idea...the first book was great and I couldn't wait for this one.
Bitter Exes is the experiment in this one and Violet and Lane are joined once again...
Can the two exes survive reliving past mistakes? Will all their old feeling come back to the surface?
Loved the secondary characters, new and old...
Great lead characters, chemistry, tons of feels! Loved it from beginning to end...can't wait to read more about Ember!
Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sometimes life events aren’t as they seem. Things aren’t always as they look! Years had passed since Lane and Vi had seen each other, but that didn’t stop them from finding their way back to each other in their own way. Sometimes life deserves second chances to make things right, and Addison Moore couldn’t have captured this any better had she tried. I hope everyone falls in love with Lane and Vi’s story as much as I did! A truly incredible story!

All I can say Addison Moore did it again! This book is amazing, the 2nd book in the Social Experiment series. We follow Lane and Vi as they both relive the past.

Lane is very swoon worthy and Violet takes some getting use to (doesn't really believe in HEA). You will learn as secrets make their way out through the experiment.

Will Lane and Vi get their happily ever after? In order to find out you have to get the book.

I like the story and it's probably closer to 4stars than 3. But again I have to say this writing style is so fast paced, it honestly feels like half the conversations are missing and the characters understand each others quips even when they're completely out of context and in the real world would be met with blank expressions. This author definitely believes in some sort of mind melding between best friends and lovers because I cannot think of another way to explain some of these interactions.

I've read this before, probably in a 3-book series. Vi and Lane broke up spectacularly just as their college lives were beginning and they've both joined TSE to see if they can make it out as friends, or lovers. Not a lot of meat to this one (book 1 was better), and honestly, there was a lot of college angst that was over the top for me. Probably because I'm way past my college years. HEA, Standalone.

I loved Violet and Lane! They are the second round of Dexter’s Social Experiment on campus. This one is Bitter Exes. They broke up over Lane’s cheating? Or is that just Violet’s insecurities? Be sure to pick up a copy to follow this couple’s experiment to get a HEA in love! Love anything Addison Moore writes.

I received an ARC of The Social Experiment: Bitter Exes. I love Addison Moore's writing and would have to say she did not disappoint me on this one. I absolutely love Vi and Lane's story and I now have a huge crush on Lane. I felt like he was way more romantic than any of the male characters in books I have read. *swoon worthy*

Loved it.
Addison always does a fabulous job and this one is no exception. Voilet and Lane's story is illed with secrets and a bitter past. However, when they have to participate in the social experiment everything from their past gets thrown into their face. Can they overcome everything they have been through ot will their past be too much to give them a HEA? A must quick read.

I received this book as an ARC. I have recently discovered Addison Moore as an author. I love her writing! This story is about a wonderful duo Lane and Vi. I am in love with Lane’s character. He is the kind of guy girls wish for. Book reminded me of the Bachelor TV series. So if you like that type of story...this one is still better!

Couldn’t finish

Only made it about halfway through... I wish it included flashbacks to better understand the characters. They jumped right back into their relationship too fast to be believable without even talking about what caused their break up before.
