Benefit to help family of fallen TPD Cpl. set for Jan. 17

'Zumbathon' set for Washburn's Lee Arena

A fundraising event to benefit the family of fallen Topeka police Cpl. Jason Harwood will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 17 at Washburn University's Lee Arena.

The event, scheduled from 2-4 p.m., will feature Zumba-style fitness workouts. A $5 minimum donation is suggested. Proceeds will help the family of Harwood, killed in the line of duty on Sept. 7, 2014, attend a Washington D.C. workshop designed to help families who have experienced similar tragedies.

The Topeka Fraternal Order of Police is one of the event's sponsors.
