A FAKE accident was staged during the Collie PCYC school holiday program, with one of the "victims" sprawled out in front of a car as St John Ambulance volunteers attended to her.
To make the accident appear more realistic Dianne Ugle and Jack King were splattered with fake blood.
St John Ambulance regional manager Ian Mumford attended the "accident" and hoped such activities might increase the number of people who volunteer.
The activity also "dismissed some myths about ambulances".Often children only saw ambulances take away loved ones, Mr Mumford said.
"I think it's a good opportunity to show how an ambulance works."
PCYC centre manager Sue Graham said the children had been involved with various emergency services groups in Collie during the holidays.
"The children have been really interested to learn what emergency services do and how they can get involved when they're a bit older," Ms Graham said.
The children's enthusiasm for emergency services has inspired PCYC organisers to create a theme every school holiday.
"It makes it a bit easier with the planning," Ms Graham said.
