How do you review a book that has left you completely shattered? Broken into little pieces, mind blown into tiny little bits…? Well, you start by saying - this second book in the Secrets and Lies series is fucking out of this world fantastic. And that’s not something that I say lightly, but the continuation of Mia and Ethan’s story has surpassed all my expectations, hell its so far past them that I don’t even remember what they were. The plotline was gripping, emotional and infuriating. Just when I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen...bam, M.M. Koenig hit me with a one/two punch that left my mouth hanging open in shock. A book like this one, it definitely needs to go to the top of your must read list.
Mia Ryan hasn’t had an easy few months. Going undercover as a mole at a large company has taken its toll on her, the lies and deceit eating away at her conscience day after day. When Ethan leaves her after learning the truth of her betrayal, she truly doesn’t know if they will have a future beyond all the lies. The closer Mia gets to the truth about who she really is, why Micah betrayed her and what Ethan’s true intentions are, the more complicated things become. In a world full of blackmail and dishonest intentions - who can she really trust? Is her love for Ethan enough to see her through the black cloud that has settled over her life? Or will trusting the wrong person be the end for them all? What I love about Mia is her strength. M.M. Koenig has brought her back stronger, feistier and braver than ever, I love a kickass female and Mia definitely does not disappoint in that department. The tougher the situation, the more determined she was to uncover the truth and right the injustices.
Ethan’s character is still one that I am just in love with. His fierce need to love and protect Mia are traits that I admire in a male and he certainly stepped up not only his protectiveness but the romance in this book. While Mia’s deceit hit him hard, he refused to give up on what they had and fought hard to keep her by his side. Their connection is intense, passionate and real. I loved how even when surrounded by treachery at every turn - they were still able to find time for themselves and to reaffirm that their feelings for each other were real.
I started and finished this book in one sitting, it literally took my breath away and had me biting my nails on the edge of my seat all throughout. One minute I was laughing, one minute panting from the steamy scenes, the next crying from heartbreak. The shocks kept coming and as I said, each one blew me away. M.M. Koenig, you truly are genius and I for one, and anxiously awaiting the conclusion to this series.

Complicated by M.M. Koenig is book two in the Secrets and Lies Series. The reader once again becomes entangled in a story of intrigue and mystery and who can forget a bit of a love story mixed in. I couldn't wait to read this next book after finishing Conflicted and I was far from disappointed. I was anticipating what would happen as I turned each page and everything that I predicted was far from what happened, leaving me gasping in shock until I turned the very last page. I am waiting on pins and needles for the continuation of Mia and Ethan's story in book three of this amazing series because after the big reveal in the final pages of this four star read, I am desperate for Mia's reaction! Everyone needs to grab the Secrets and Lies Series by M.M. Koenig because you will not be disappointed.
Discovering the truth about Micah, the first love of her life when he returns after almost a year away, Mia is thrown into a whirlwind of activity, wondering what is really driving Harrison's obssession with Ethan's business and at what lengths he will actually go to obtain the information that he desperately wants Mia to uncover while working there. Not ready to hear what Micah has to say about his departure from her life, a departure that crushed her and ruined her academic career she sends him away when he desperately wants to talk to her about his reasons and what is really going on. When she finally decides that it is perhaps time to hear Micah out, it may be too late as he is missing causing his mother, Trey and Mia to worry about his whereabouts and how involved he is in this crazy mess that has now become her life.
"You promised you'd stop withholding stuff from me, but you're still doing it. When are you going to believe in me? When are you finally going to let that wall fall so we can get past this point? You say you believe I'd never do anything to hurt you, but your actions say otherwise."
Mia and Ethan become closer in this book and she falls for him even more if that is even possible. He takes her friends on a getaway with him and his friends, a time that was filled with sun, drinks, fun and laughter; something that she desperately needs to get out of her head and stop worrying about the chaos that she has become entangled in when accepting Harrison's offer of going undercover. Always trying to think of a way to get out from under Harrison's thumb, she worries for Ethan's safety with the truths that are beginning to be uncovered in his company. He assures her that he knows what he is doing and that everyone involved will get what they deserve, but Mia has a hard time believing that there is a silver lining in all of this.
In the closing chapters of book two, the reader is thrown into an action packed sequence of events that rivals a blockbuster action movie, and keeps your eyes on the page turning each one with an incessant need to know what happens next. With a plan that seems unreal when first discussed, Mia and her boys and Ethan and his family of close friends work to nail everyone to the wall. Everything does not going according to plan and lives are lost in the process. The book ends with a revelation so profound, I never saw it coming and I gasped out loud while reading.
Not wanting to give away the best parts of this utterly amazing story, I will keep my review as vague as possible only saying that you MUST READ this series and I promise that you will not be disappointed. M.M. Koenig outdid herself on this one and I cannot wait to see what the next book reveals!

I am not normally a cliffhanger / serial type of reader. I want the story to have a beginning, middle and end in one book. But the Secrets and Lies series has delivered a story that is fast paced, full of more lies and secrets than any one person should have to deal with – and it’s told in a fashion that you cannot help but love the characters, even when you have no clue if they are telling the truth or simply adding one more lie to the pile.
In the second installment, Mia and Ethan’s love gets even deeper – and the lies and secrets more complicated. Mia can’t seem to go that last step to absolute trust in Ethan. And Ethan knows more than he’s telling, so why should she trust him totally. His silence may be to protect and help her, but it’s just one more brick on that pile of secrets that is building around them.
I’ve enjoyed spending time in Mia and Ethan’s world. This story is fast, action filled along with the romance that is sweeping over the main characters. Expect the unexpected and be prepared for even more secrets and lies. This one leaves us with a whopper of a cliffhanger, but fortunately the final story is out so we can dive right into the ending.
If you love suspense, mystery, danger and unraveling lots of secrets and not a few lies, then Complicated is right for you. (and no, I didn’t give much away at all because this is a suspenseful story that you need to read for yourself)

I am going to be completely honest. I didn’t know if I wanted to go with 2 stars or 3. Don’t get me wrong the story line was awesome. It was jammed packed with lies, betrayal, secrets, friendship, sex, and love. I wanted to know what was going to happen next with Ethan and Mia, but at the same time Mia and Bri (Mia’s best friend) rubbed me the wrong way in the worst way.
If she hadn’t been so stubborn and selfish she would have learned a lot of important things that would have helped her, hell back in the first book.
All that aside, I kept reading because I seriously wanted to know what would happen next. Because this story didn’t follow the normal pattern, it took you on so many twist and turns, you will be sitting there like damn did that just really happen and what the heck is going to happen next.
I seriously have a love/hate thing going with this series, but I really want to know what happens next. Now I have to wait for the next book. Got dangit!

OMG! LOVED IT!! This picked up right where Conflicted left off. This story is so full of twists and turns that I couldn't put it down because I was afraid I would miss something. I love that all the characters returned and that I got a deeper look at their relationships. I also loved the addition of all of Ethan's friends into the mix. It gave a deeper insight into his character, seeing him as a completely different person around them. Ethan and Mia also get to have a deeper connection because of the new interactions. The new friends brought some comic relief with them. This story is getting so emotional with the way the story line is going. I have to admit that I cried during a few parts of this book. It is rare that I get so attached to the characters that I read about. I am anxiously waiting for the next book. I am also hoping that with so many characters that there will be more books to come for them.

Mia Ryan's life has become a dangerous maze and she doesn't know where to turn. She's in love with Ethan, but can't even be sure he can be trusted. The wrong step could endanger her or her loved ones, which is especially terrifying since she doesn't know what the right step is. The mysteries surrounding Mia are interesting and frustrating, it's a tangled web that keeps you glued to the page. This is the second book of three in the Secrets and Lies Series. The story continues through all three books, so you definitely want to read them in order.

I continue to fall more in love with Ethan with each passing page and romantic display. His love is so beautiful and what moa continues to do and did does and will shatter him. Ethan is kind and sweet. Each action he took was with mia’s safety in mind. Anything he held back was to keep her safe. At the end we see that he was correct to do that. In this book in the series we learn who Ethan is, what shaped him and see him interact with his friends. We see how far he will go to protect loved ones.we see the truth behind Micah. What gets me is her friends forgive Micah and have attitude towards Ethan for keeping something that could potentially destroy her from her. She goes behind his back more times than we can count in book one and this one and he forgives. He apologises when he doesn’t feel ready to talk and when he does he is forthcoming. Even tells her he will not tell her something that could hurt her. Yet she distrusted him so much that her and her friends went and destroyed the thin veil that kept her safe. Than they act like everyone wronged them. so n e of their family members knew this secret and they didn’t act that way towards them hello why do that to ethan who truly loves her. This book is aptly named because each life, each action and each reveal is complicated and has complications to them. There are consequences to everything mia does. Years mia for she is the one who does the most to create complicated and potentially harmful consequences. Throughout this book mia does things that complicated her and ethan’s life, endanger her friends, complicates the situation and some are just poor choices. Her flying off the handle when things weren’t going her way didn’t help her. Her feeling two.he’d when people made some decisions for her sometimes justified the anger wasn’t. Her friends are always fun to read about but I didn’t like the way they treated Ethan. See his side as well.sometimes the bigger picture is needed and narrowing the path complicates things more and destroys. With each page you see love and devotion from Ethan, a lot of confusion and guilt from mia, supportive friends, and danger. You see consequences that destroy and cause more harm than good. Each page will have you smile at the romance and romantic gestures, growl at some of the decisions, shocked at some of the revelations and keeps you at the edge of your seat wondering what’s next. The ending wow. I feel for Ethan because he finally found peace over his mom and as his fun loving and adorable friends said he was becoming himself again only to have it jeopardized. He will be shattered like Olivia said. Mia is being selfish and not thinking. It seems that is a theme in the book. Even though it doesn't seem like she is and that she’s being protective she really isn’t. Each action is to further what she wants. Not thinking of the consequences or who it will hurt and affect. Each character evokes some myriad of emotions. Each one is in danger and has you intrigued with the more that is revealed. A fast action, at times incredibly romantic book about the complications of our lives and secrets and the consequences our choices can have. About shattering people and hurting others with your actions. About love and devotion,secrets , and lies. About trust and faith in love. One that will have you hanging on for more and wondering what’s next. . A wonderfully written keep you on your toes book with you feeling so much for ethan and hoping things work out with a wow ending.

I was given this book for my honest review
As we take our first breath of life we never know what the future lies for us. Our parents teach us values that we take with us on our paths but the path that we take on our own is what defines us as humans. We don’t come with a handbook when we are born though at times one would think we should. Our parents try as they might to shield us towards the greater path but in the end it is our own individuality that we present to the world. The world in front of us does not define us we define the world as individuals.
This is the 2nd book in this series the first is Conflicted and need to be read first
Mia-brave, pretty and shy at times
Ethan-hunky and driven
As Mia and Ethan’s journey continues as life throws them a bunch of conflicts that they must deal with together. Mia has fallen for Ethan in the most head over heels kind of way but what about how Ethan feels does he feel the same way about Mia or will he walk away once her feelings are let out? The path that these two take is scary but an invigorating one at the same time. Mia’s past memories of childhood continues to invade her dreams but are these actually dreams or actual memories that happened from long ago? The path that she has walked for so long is that the reality of it all or is there more to her that she even knows? Can Mia find her true happiness?
Ethan is on a quest to find his true heart but will Mia end up being his true heart? Can he find the happiness and safety among her arms? Will he be able to be completed with her or will he fall short of that? He is so in awe of her from the earliest memory of her not knowing who she was but seeing that life isn’t all roses but at the same time he feels this connection of true heart.
This is their journey of finding love, happiness and fulfillment. The path that this couple walks down together is not easy by far but the ending is sure to be one that will amaze us all in this most awesome heart wrenching, screamable and tearful journey. Can the love be found and kept or will earth shattering events tear this couple down and will they be able to find the key ingredient to find their way home to each others arms?
To the author: You have left me speechless in this amazing read. You have given me laughter, tears and screamable moments in this read that had me wanting more and more. This is part two in this series and follows on from where we were left teetering on a cliff edge of suspense and drama in last book. Can Mia and Ethan overcome the lies and the treachery that were revealed...can they forgive the circumstances that brought them together?!?
We are caught up on a whirlwind of love, sex and romantic gestures as Ethan blankets Mia in a fantasy fit for any fairy tale Princess...

I swooned, literally at that moment fell in love with a fictional character, my heart filled with a sense of well being and I had hope things would somehow become perfect. All I can say safely is M.M Koenig you are a devious, slightly twisted author! Blown away by the plot twists and shocked at the depth of the conspiracy.
With more twists than a rollercoaster and hiddens secrets than a Bourne Identity movie I was in awe as the revelations kept
on coming, explaining the extreme mood swings of Ethan and the reasons why Mia is suddenly a very in demand woman. Ethan has some serious double standards...typical alpha male taking control and not allowing Mia to make informed decisions.
The backdrop of characters such as Ethans Grandma and friends enrich their story and show another dimension to their natures. They also add much needed support and relief to a very suspenseful and high tension plot line. Mia's friend/family are very involved in this story as the are intrinsically linked to her story and journey of discovery.
Be warned this is no fairytale. Things are not what they appear and blood is shed, people are caught in the cross fire...millions of dollars are at risk and vengeance is required! Intrigued...believe me you will be blown away.

on coming, explaining the extreme mood swings of Ethan and the reasons why Mia is suddenly a very in demand woman. Ethan has some serious double standards...typical alpha male taking control and not allowing Mia to make informed decisions.
The backdrop of characters such as Ethans Grandma and friends enrich their story and show another dimension to their natures. They also add much needed support and relief to a very suspenseful and high tension plot line. Mia's friend/family are very involved in this story as the are intrinsically linked to her story and journey of discovery.
Be warned this is no fairytale. Things are not what they appear and blood is shed, people are caught in the cross fire...millions of dollars are at risk and vengeance is required! Intrigued...believe me you will be blown away.

Complicated • M.M. Koenig
This is book 2 in the series and it leaves off where the 1st one left off. I was sucked into the book that I didn't even take notes like I usually do; I just kept swiping my finger across my screen to find out what happens next.
During Complicated Mia and Ethan find out more of what is going on with Ethan's father's business and Mia's background that she doesn't remember. They find out they both have lied to each other and kept secrets from each other that could leave them not being together but I have hope that love will save them. By the end you are on the edge of your seat wanting to know what is going to happen but at the same time you don't want to finish since you know the author is going to do something to make you upset.
I did get my courage up and finished it and I'm so glad I did. This was a well written book that will have you falling in love with all the characters in the story. I'll be starting Concealed (book 3) immediately!

Wow!! This story is full of all kinds of twist and turns! I can totally see why it's called... Complicated. This story starts off right where Conflicted ended with Ethan and Mia still learning how to knock each others walls down. However, little by little they both start to open up to each other more and more. Ethan introduces Mia to important people from his past, which helps Mia understand Ethan's personality more. Mia also introduces Ethan to someone close and little by little Mia is able to actually think about her future.
In Complicated, Ethan and Mia's relationship was just starting and it was more of a push and pull relationship. I felt that this time around, we were able to see more of the loving relationship between them. I like how in love Ethan is with Mia and how he is always doing the sweetest things for her. I loved that he's finally opening up to her and letting her in. Don't get me wrong, they still had the bickering back and forth that I like to read about. They can be hot and heavy one minute and the next ice cold!! It's too funny. But when Ethan finally opened up, and let his true feelings out, it was so heartwarming as he wrote it out for her.....

M. M. Koenig managed to sustain my interest in the first book and I just have to say that this second book just floored me. I was breathless with the turn of events, and constantly flipping pages to keep up with the suspense. The revelations in this book were totally unexpected yet utterly interesting. There were more characters and a whole lot of action but Miss Koenig still managed to ground the suspense with the right amount of steamy love and romance.
“I needed something to quiet the voices in my head that continued to dwell on where things stood with Ethan.”
Mia unveiled a lot of mysteries in this book. I love the spunk of this woman. She was intelligent but she was affectionate and selfless as well. Miss Koenig definitely blew me away with this character. In this book, Mia struggles with trusting Ethan as he left her hours after she told him she loved him. This shook her world, reminded by how painful it was to be loved and be left. Nevertheless, Mia half-heartedly fulfilled Ethan’s plead to trust him that he will come back and that he needed space. She expanded her understanding with a love for him that delved into a deeper part of her that no one has ever touched. Mia unleashed an inner strength and determination in this book that drove her into trouble. Faced with the most important mysteries in her life, Mia started having flashbacks of her past that forced her to resolve them, diving into trouble without knowing what she’s going to find.
“I won’t give up on us. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure from this day forward that you know how much I need you in my life.”
A softer side of Ethan was shown in this book and I totally loved it. I loved journeying into his life as he painfully yet wholeheartedly exposed his past to Mia. I felt a surge of tenderness when he took her into parts of his life with the intention of keeping her there. But Ethan was still struggling with his own secrets, keeping them from Mia in sheer belief that it will keep her safe. And the more he tried to keep her safe, the more she put herself in danger.
“All I’ve wanted to do since I discovered the truth is protect you. I can’t lose you.”
The plot of this book thickens with the jampacked revelations of the characters’ pasts. I loved the thrill of not knowing what will happen next and what fact I will find out after being blown away by a previous one. M. M. Koenig still maintained the steam with the complicated romance between Ethan and Mia. Trust was rebuilt, passion was rekindled, and their love for each other went into greater extents. In this book, most of the lies were settled. And this leaves me clamouring and aching for the third book! I can’t wait to see how this story will end!

Complicated is the second book in the Secrets And Lies Series. This was definitely my most sought out release of this year. This story will keep you so enthralled that you will be flipping pages quickly it will make your head spin. I would give this book a 5 star! I never and mean never give a cliffhanger book a 5 star but HOLY mother this book blew me away. It has so many things happening and watching this story unfold was seriously amazing. Yes I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting ever so patiently for the next installment of this series to come out! It has action, passion, angst, disaster, devastation...gosh I could keep going, but in all it was amazingly written and I would not only recommend this series to my friends but I would plead with them to read it. You will fall in love with every character this book has in it... and there are so many more that get brought into this story that you will be hoping and praying that some get there own story in the end. I don't say this much about books but this series I could imagine being a movie and it wouldn't just be woman that would watch it, men would flock to it because this book has a lot of action and adventure too. Thanks M.M. Koenig I am truly blessed to have taken a chance on reading your books and most definitely will be following as long as your journey last in this crazy fabulous book world! IF you haven't read Conflicted the first book read no further as there will be spoilers about it..but hopefully y'all have read if not get to clicking!

You do not want to miss this series believe me! The last pages of this book had me having major WTF moments and OMG are you kidding me moments. God almighty M.M. Koenig you blew my socks off with this book... now hurry up and get me the next installment! I have so many questions and my heart hurts for the tragedy that this book entails, but in all I love when an author can bring those emotions out! What happens when you finally have the guts to tell somebody about what your real intentions are? For Mia, her gorgeous boyfriend up and leaves her to the other side of the United States. Sure, she finally tells him exactly why she was working under him. She knows that what she has done is wrong, and had decided to tell him in hopes of him understanding her more. She was sadly mistaken. With her life in shambles, Mia feels as if nothing can go right. With Ethan leaving her, the constant feeling of being stalked, and watched, and just an overall uneasiness with her future, she cannot seem to catch a break.
Ethan doesn't seem to be helping much on his end though. Ethan really develops throughout this book, and it is a nice time to really see into his past. He does not have the best past, and swears that he will protect Mia - but should he continue to protect her even after she tells him about what she is really doing at his company? He's torn, and leaves her at the end of Conflicted to tend to his own problems, and to clear his head. What they don't know is that with Ethan leaving Mia behind there are a lot more issues to arise then they had planned.
Not only does Mia tell Ethan her big secret, he comes clean with his own secrets that not even the readers had an idea about. The real question Mia has to ask herself now is if it's worth it to stay with Ethan. Does their relationship even have a chance to stand on its own even after the lies they have told to one another? Mia's world is shattered with all this, and she begins to turn to drinking to ease her worries, fears, and pain.
I enjoyed that M.M. Koenig continues to leave her readers guessing. There are a lot of things that are brought up in Complicated that wasn't answered in Conflicted. M.M. Koenig brings Mia's past back to life towards the end of the book, and the reader is finally able to see who Mia really is, and why she is the way she is. All of this is brought up by Ethan who returns to Mia to protect her from her past, and her present mess that she got herself into.
I feel that Complicated really picked up where Conflicted left off. There was no guessing work, and a lot of the questions I had at the end of Conflicted were answered. The cliff hanger at the end made me want to throw a tantrum - not lying! M.M. Koenig has done it again! Complicated is just such an emotional roller coaster that it is an absolutely, unbelievable thriller. The fact that she brings both romance, and mystery to her readers really adds great grounds for this series. I am in love with this series, and completely look forward to the rest of the books in the Secrets and Lies Series.

Okay, whoever picked the title for this book hit it right on. This story took me on the rollercoaster ride of my life. It had all kinds of twist and turns! I couldn’t think of a better title if I wanted to, Complicated is perfect. This story starts off right where Conflicted ended with Ethan and Mia still learning how to live with each other. However, they both start to open up little by little. When Mia is introduced to people in Ethan’s past she starting to understand him more and more.
Complicated is where Mia and Ethan’s relationship began. They are just really starting to get to know each other in this book. We were able to see more of a loving relationship between them. I love how Ethan shows his love for Mia he is always doing the sweetest things for her. When he opened up, and finally let her in the story was turned completely around. Trust me the bickering back and forth never stopped. They can be hot and heavy one minute and the next you don’t know what will happen. Complicated is book 2 in the Secrets and Lies series. I felt like this book was a constant barrage of events, situations and discoveries. Often it came so fast that I became confused and had to go back and reread a section so I could keep it all straight. Mia and Ethan don’t start out on comfortable terms as you begin this part of the series, but soon you will understand what is going on with those two and the pieces to this puzzle begin to fall in place.
As you continue to read more secrets begin to surface, giving us a peek into Mia’s past and watching as she struggles to accept her real story and continue to move forward. Mia and Ethan are going to have to deal with her lies, she has a lot to make up, a ton of explaining to do and very limited knowledge of the truth. It was intriguing to watch her go through this and see the strong woman she is begin to crumble into the woman Ethan could fix.
The characters are very well written, their personality flows off the pages to the point you can visualize them. The build up to important scenes is intense and yes she even has a few times the twists and turns will shock you and make you have to sit back and ponder how you missed that. The writing style is smooth and can sweep the reader right into the scenes in most cases.
A few things I didn’t care for, which aren’t deal breaking problems, but I like for the intensity to be consistent. I really didn’t feel like the real story started here till half way or more through the book. The amount of sex was abundant. I begin to feel like sex was used as a filler at times instead of it advancing the plot. Another thing is for readers like myself, we read so many books between releases in a series, I would have appreciated a quick refresher on the important parts of book 1 so I could easily sit back and enjoy book 2. It could have been as simple as Mia going over in her head why she is where she is when this book began. Overall though, none of that stopped me from finishing the book and enjoying the ride.
If you love suspense, drama, relationship angst and lies being exposed and secrets uncovered, you will love this book. I look forward to seeing what happens in book 3.

Mia’s life just seems to continue to grow into being more complicated. Ethan takes off after she reveals the truth of her employment at his family’s company and now she’s being blackmailed, stalked, and watched. Mia used to have a sense of safety, but now dangers lurk all around her. She’s so unsure of herself and cannot find time to just relax. She’s always on guard when it comes to her family, friends, life, and heart.
Ethan.. Ethan.. Ethan.. I don’t know how many times after finishing the last book I just wanted to smack the ever loving shit out of him. He left Mia when she’s at her most vulernable. Granted, she did drop a major bombshell on him. He’s got a dark past and intentions of his own when it comes to his family. All he wants in this life to bring down those who hurt him deeply and protect Mia in the process. But, how can you protect someone who has lied to you from the beginning of your relationship?
Their relationship has never been settled on solid ground. As Mia’s fallen harder and harder for Ethan she knew she had to tell him the truth. But, you will find as you read this novel that Ethan’s been hiding a huge secret regarding her past from her. When she discovers the secret and his deception, Mia’s life starts to bottom out. She knows she loves Ethan, but will it be enough to make their relationship last?
This novel is just.. woah. It’s so hard to describe such an emotional rollercoaster without writing a book myself. She’s grown into this smart mouth, sexy heroine who will kick your ass and take names later. Koenig’s ability to render a reader speechless is unsurpassed. I never saw this secret past coming and damn I want more.. NOW!

As with book 1, Conflicted, the title of this book is absolutely spot on. It IS complicated, with more secrets, lies, twists and turns than you can shake a stick at. I appear to be having a love/hate relationship with these books because there are quite a few moments when I actually dislike what I'm reading but then it can all swing around at the drop of a hat. For myself, the majority of this book is a 3-star read. It's good, just not anything to shake your pom-poms about. But then, the last 10% of the book happened and wow, it was excellent! It blew me out of the water and I had tears, heart pounding and pulse racing issues whilst I read. It was definitely this portion of the book that upped it to a 4-star read for me.

A difficult book to read or review but I can still recommend it. It is certainly controversial enough to make it stand out from the crowd - you can decide if that's a good thing or not for yourself.

Ethan - I actually liked him in the first book but I find myself not wanting them to be together more and more. Ethan spends most of this book making Mia feel guilty over lying to him when he is the one doing the same thing and more. You should not have to walk on eggshells around someone you love or be afraid to ask questions. Their relationship isn't healthy and I keep hoping that Mia will end up with Jackson, the playboy, who has an honest friendship with Mia that could turn into something else given the chance. Science had taught us that for every action, there was a reaction – for every cause, there was an effect.
2nd book of the series from M.M. Koenig and it surely lives up to its name once again.
This book continues on about Ethan and Mia as we know Ethan’s family is part of the Mafia and Mia has tangled herself in the web.
Ethan and Mia are trying to find their way as a couple and work on their relationship whilst trying to uncover the illegal dealings that are being unfolded, there relationship is put to the test many times.
But can Mia and Ethan survive the hands there being dealt?
Once you get to about 50-60% the book really kicks into high gear, we have shoot outs, break-ins, hacking, black mail, secrets, lies, a pregnancy, accidents and many many more. Once we got to this part we couldn’t put it down we got sucked right into the book and so many truths come out.
We found Complicated started off a bit slow but once we finished we realized why?
Because there are so many key characters that come into play to help the situations unfold so you do have to read it slow to understand and remember where each character fits in.
I didn’t like the ending because we have to wait for book 3 so if you hate cliff hanger ending without knowing what’s going to happen maybe read after the 3rd book is out cause there is no happy ending in book 2!!

COMPLICATED by M.M. Koenig is the second book in the series, and could not have made my head spin any faster.
The story in this book is well written and developed, the plot as I said is very fast paced and will leave you with a desire to read the third book in the series, I know that I personally cant wait to read the next book, I need to know how this all turns out. The characters in this book are very well written and the chemistry between Mia and Ethan is amazing, it has to be with the way Ethan runs hot and cold with his emotions for Mia.
This book I felt was written in two sections, the first part of the book is Ethan trying to prove to Mia and her friends how much he really cares about Mia and wanting to get to know her friends, and of course Ethan shows Mia in the bedroom how much he loves her (several and I mean several times in the first half of the book Ethan and Mia are having sex what seems like every second page in the book). About midway through the book is where the story really starts to pick up, Mia learns things about her past which are affecting her now and her future. It was really heartbreaking to see Mia fall apart during the last half of the book, everything she believed about her past and Ethan was a lie. Will Mia be able to get out from under Harrison's control (the man who hired her to be a mole at Ethan's company), will Mia and Ethan work things out, will Mia be able to get past all of Ethan's lie and secrets? So many questions left unanswered at the end of this book.
COMPLICATED by M.M. Koenig, has left me spinning, this is the second book in the series and book one is a must read before two in order to understand the story, and book three will for sure to added to my ever growing TBR list. I would give COMPLICATED 4/5 stars.

October 30, 2014This book is definitely one I was waiting on........ I wanted to know what was going to happen between Mia and Ethan. Also, what was the deal with this 'meeting' that was so important she attended.
This review will be hard to write without giving too much information away about the plot of the book. Let's just say that all things are not what they appear and some people aren't who they appear to be. There were moments of suspense, moments of true passion and it was page-turning! It keeps you on your toes with your heart pounding.
I do want to add in there how much I loved Ethan. His passion and devotion for Mia is out of this world! I loved some of the things he said to her! But, is he also keeping things from her??? When she finds out the truth will it destroy what they have between them??? He always seemed so grounded by his love for her and his want to keep her safe no matter the cost.
Overall I loved the story! There were many things I was not expecting.... especially surrounding Mia's past and all the people that are secretly involved or knew some information. The author did an amazing job keeping the reader pulled into the story wanting to know how the game will be played out. There were lots of lies and secrets that happened which had you questioning who was trying to protect who.
That ending...... the torture is going to be awful! Waiting will make hours seem like days and months like years. I hate that it ended with such a big cliffhanger but we have to keep in mind that it's To Be Continued...........

I reveived an ARC from Author Groupies in exchange for an honest review.
I must just start off by complimenting MM Koenig ....the coverart of both books is phenomenal and hits the nail on the head! Ethan is captured beautifully and I find myself having to reign in my thoughts as they wander off south to special treats his body has for me. I'm trying not to give away to much so you simply have to read the books and discover the" beauty of Ethan" ♡
Complicated flows straight from Conflicted and Mia has Ethan behind her , there are still those nagging little questions that drive me around the bend !I feel the pain and frustration on both sides though . Ethan wants Mia's whole heart and it's as if she's still holding back a bit and he's desperate to break through the walls of Alcatraz. In Mia's defense though Ethan does keep things from her and although his heart and motives are noble it doesn't bode well for the trust issues Mia has. Their chemistry and passion is still ,if not more intense ! I kept waiting for my kindle to melt LOL !! We do however see a darker side to Ethan that we didn't see in Conflicted ,it's as if his fuse is shorter and we all know how quick Mia is to take the bait !
The ending left me hanging on the edge of a cliff with a crater in my heart ! Well played MM Koenig !

When I first saw this book for request on NetGalley, I fell in love with the synopsis and knew right away that I had to request this book. I had to read this book. At the time, I didn’t realize that this was book 2 in Mia and Ethan’s tale. It didn’t occur to me until I picked up Complicated and actually started reading it. All that being said, I actually was able to follow the story really well. I didn’t feel too lost or confused, so that is really a terrific thing.
So, what can I say about Complicated? Be prepared to be taken for a ride. It had my emotions all over the place; not knowing how to feel from one moment to the next. There are so many delicious twists and turns that will keep you on the edge and guessing what will happen next. And just when you think you’ve got a handle on things, another twist is thrown your way. Complicated has it all. From secrets to lies, To betrayal and questionable intentions, to scorching chemistry and wonderful steamy moments. It was a fantastic read from start to finish and it has an ending that will leave you begging for more.
This is my first book by this author and even though I did start it in the middle of the series, I enjoyed every moment of it and can not wait for more. I can not wait to see how everything will play out in the end.

Life is about to get more complicated for Mia and Ethan. With Mia and Ethan separated after Mia's secrets were exposed at the end of 'Conflicted', Mia is doubtful that their relationship can survive.
With lots of people keeping secrets, can they actually discover why so many people want a piece of Mia? Safety in numbers is key as Ethan and Mia's friends gather round to help them. Once the truth is revealed you can guarantee that it will be explosive and blow you mind.
Mia and Ethan's relationship is a complicated one, with both keeping things from the other. Both wanting to completely trust the other but both want desperately to keep the other safe. This is incredibly frustrating as they both go round in circles with this. One thing is absolute for these two and that is the love they have for each other. Ethan, ever the romantic, finds new and amazing ways of surprising her and showing his love for her. He has completely stolen my heart with the things that does for Mia.
The balance between the action and the romance is spot on and the romance adds to the story rather than detracts from it. I absolutely loved this instalment as it kept me hooked from start to finish and beyond. I was in awe of the 'Conflicted' but this takes it to the next level. I am slightly bereft at the thought of having to wait for more from this series. I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms already.

Complicated is truly complicated! man this book is crazy!
Mia finally spills the beans to Ethan about why she took the job and what her goal was in the end. How does Ethan take it ...not so well at first. Now she is alone, and she can still feel the eyes of someone watching her close by. Honestly, I don't feel sorry for her, Ethan loves her and has done everything he could to protect her and show her that what they have is real. I mean, sure it's great to be honest in a relationship, you cant believe that your actions would not hurt!
So now we come to Ethan and his huge secret , can I just take a breath and say WOW where did that come from?! Ethan has made a promise, keep Mia safe at all cost. And he plans to do that. The real questions for Mia is can she really stay with Ethan now? Mia can't take all the stress and she starts to drink thinking that it will take away all the pain and fear and just numb her so she does not have to think about her world coming apart.
This book was a great read, it really showed both characters growing together and it was an adventure that I would gladly recommend to all my friends. The mystery, suspense, the amazingly hot connection that Ethan and Mia have its just crazy! It definitely had me on the edge of my seat for the whole book, wondering what could possibly happen next and to my surprise it's always something new!

M.M. Koenig has done it again and I'm loving this series and these wonderful characters. I'm so glad these books have come into my life. This is why I love to read. AMAZING.
Complicated is the Second book in the Secrets and Lies Series and if you haven't read Conflicted, please do, you'll love it. These characters have an amazing story to tell, the main as well as the secondary characters.
Mia has learned the hard way that her bad choices have consequences. After taking an offer, she didn't think she could refuse, to get her life back on track, things continue to get complicated. Her goal now, is to keep those close to her safe. With Ethan by her side, she thinks she can do it but trust is still an issue for both of them.

First off, I want to say that my emotions have been on a rollercoaster through this journey of Complicated. I am giving it 5 stars because it kept me guessing at what was to come and who was really telling the truth. This is book 2 in the series. You definitely have to read Conflicted to understand what is going on. Complicated picks up exactly where Conflicted left off.
Mia Ryan is torn between telling the truth and living with deceit. Will the truth set her free or will it bring more harm than good to herself and her loved ones?
Are the details of your life molding who you are or who you become? Mia's past will come crashing down on her in a way she never expected. Can Ethan bring her the happiness she so desperately seeks to mend her scarred heart or will he be the final strand to unleash her storm of bottled up emotions. Mia is a very selfless person who only seems to care about herself. When will she start to do for herself? What decisions will she have to make to protect the ones she loves?
