I’m a twenty-year-old something born in Montreal, Canada but currently living in Virginia for school. I would tell you want my major is however after two years I still have no idea what I’m doing.

So I’m a writer (duh that’s how you found me), movie enthusiast, and self-proclaimed chef. I love music even though I can’t sing or dance to save my life. (That doesn’t necessarily stop me but you’ve been warned.)

I started Ruthless People the summer of 2013 in hopes of giving myself a new type of love and crime drama. I never knew so many people thought like me! I feel truly blessed to have fans like you all! Writing is my true love and having you all enjoy my words is a dream come true.

★★★★★! American Savages, book 3 of 4. The tumultuous & blood-filled conclusion to Liam & Mel’s quest for world supremacy!

The Ruthless People saga follows the merger, through marriage, of two mafia families, The Callahan’s (Irish) and The Giovanni’s (Italian), with the intent of maintaining wealth and world domination through mainly drug trafficking and corruption by a.n.y. m.e.a.n.s. n.e.c.e.s.s.a.r.y.!

Books in series should be read in order:
Book 0.5: Declan + Coraline
Book 1: Ruthless People
Book 2: Untouchables
Book 3: American Savages
Book 4: A Bloody Kingdom

In Ruthless People, book 1-2 prodigal son, Liam Alec Callahan, was passed the reigns to the family empire along with title of Ceann na Conairte. Through marriage to heiress Melody Nicci Giovanni, Mel he was to take over her father’s mafia empire AND gain a meek wife to represent them…

However nothing could have prepared Liam for Melody aka The Boss who had secretly been running her family empire and was not about to relent her power. Story followed Liam and Melody in the power struggle that ensued and when they faced common enemies along the way.

American Savages (book 3) is the final leg in their quest for world domination. Liam and Mel will continue to fight relentlessly as they face their biggest challenges to-date. An on “pins-and-needles” tale of suspense, intrigue, sex, murder, corruption, violence, manipulation and betrayal!

Though Liam and Mel are set on control, revenge and redemption, the Ruthless People trilogy is very much a journey of sacrifice, growth and penance. Not everyone will make it out alive…

Liam Alec Callahan aka Ceann na Conairte, is the prodigal son who in book 1 weaseled his way into my heart while managing to find the perfect balance between whopped, in charge and diplomacy.

We’ll continue to get glimpses into his childhood, adolescence and also lots of smexxxy times courtesy a very commanding Liam. But there are sacrifices to be made and lessons to be learned. Our cocky demi-god will not get everything he wants and he will have to work hard in his attempts to keep his empire.

Nine words to describe Liam: Focused, cocky, calculated, reflective, jaded, hot-headed, vulnerable, diplomatic and ruthless.

photo rp2 he BS by sb_zpsby1j6xyo.gif
 photo rp3 stat46 xBQ by sb_zpspscigdpv.gif

Melody Nicci Giovanni-Callahan, Mel aka The Boss aka Bloody Melody has been the perfect blend of strong, bad-ass heroine, vulnerable, broken girl and men-at-your-feet temptress with a temper! But she’s come a long way since book 1 and she will continue to grow and learn the balance between fierce and softness. There is no doubt that she is Liam’s other half and has his whole heart.

Nine words to describe Melody: V.o.l.a.t.i.l.e., motivated, competitive, fierce, smart, calculated, complex, hot-headed and ruthless.

American Savages, told from multiple POVs is yet another roller-coaster of drama, romance, angst and suspense with quit a few shockers, victories and setbacks… The ending is perfection! But… You. Are. Not. Going. To. Get. Everything. You. Want. Epilogue eight years into the future….

Spellbinding story-telling! Flawless and suspenseful plot! The whole spectrum of emotions! It’s a story that consumed me from the first page and will stay with me for years to come! 6-star shelf! Top-10-hero and Favorite-heroine shelves.

5+++ DYNAMITE STARS

What a Grand Finale for the Callahan empire – this was a truly brilliant series!!
 photo AS2_zps4encwzpn.jpg

Ms. McAvoy, take a bow…

This one was a real roller coaster of emotions for me much like I found the first book to be. I had tremendous highs

and devastating lows.

It begins right where the second one ended with Liam trapped and Melody in the wind...

“Let’s get this clusterfuck on the road,”

And the story that unfolds is madness, mayhem, murder and martial bliss. Melody and Liam at their finest.

 photo AS1_zpsh9ctmifb.jpg

I LOVED this ruthless couple before but in this one, having them grow as individuals and as a couple was just...

MELODY NICCI GIOVANNI CALLAHAN is all woman...

and also a lethal weapon...

“You kill for family. You die for family because you can’t trust anyone else.”

LIAM ALEC CALLAHAN is all man...

and your worst nightmare...

“We are Callahans, if anyone ever disrespects us, don’t just end them, end everything they have ever cared about both past and present. Make them the example as to what happens when you fuck with the wrong family.”

And together, they are as HOT as ever...

“That really is the secret to making it; having someone at your side willing to fight for you, die for you, kill for you…”

I really enjoyed the whole cast of characters, even the ones I loved to hate. But I will say that Declan and Coraline snuck up on me in this one and I just adore them. JJ obviously knew what she was doing because I am over the moon that there's a novella about these two:Declan + Coraline

If you want something truly original, fantastically memorable MCs and you don't shy away from the reality of greed, malice and tyranny, YOU. MUST. READ. THIS. SERIES!

5 I don't want to let go STARS

Rule #06: Sometimes in order to win you have to lose.”

Once more with feeling. Suspend your disbelieve, buy those interfering morals a one way ticked to Aruba and get the booze ready. Mel and Liam are back, and they are here to wrack havoc, seek revenge and basically take over the world.
All the marks for a wonderfully wrong read.

I have to confess, I'm completely biased when it comes to this series. I'm fully committed to their questionable acts and every time they get away with another murder I just cheer them on a little more. Yes, I am aware that this is crazy on my part...sue me. Honest to god, the Callahans can do no wrong in my opinion. I'm here for the boundary pushing ride. If I wanted a look at human decency and reasonable behaviour I would read another book.

For me the Ruthless People series is like the love child of Scandal, The Sopranos and House of Cards. Scandal for the soap-opera like entanglements. Sopranos for obvious Mafia related reasons and House of Cards for the single minded, cold-blooded and merciless characters. Good times all around!

“You know why they invented superheroes? Why billions cling to fictional characters in movies and books?”
He shook his head.
“Because they know that here in real life, the villains run the world. Why else do the good die young?”

If you haven't read The Untouchables it is probably best not to read on...

So, where are we at?

Liam is in prison for allegedly 'killing' his wife and Melody is....well, let's call it 'somewhere else'. Because for a good portion of the first half we have literally no clue where she is or what she is doing and it's really hard to stomach for Liam.

In comparison to The Untouchables, American Savages starts out a lot more focused and easier to follow. For starters, we are not assaulted with a truck load of people we don't really remember, primarily thanks to a shorter time period between books. And the second part that worked really well for me is the main focus on Liam in prison and later on far less POV changes.

“All I needed was three days in any jail. The first two days I burned it down, and the third, I built it how I saw fit.”

Speaking about Liam, I always loved this character but in this last book I became obsessed. He is a lot stronger, if that's even possible and more determined. He is a man with a plan and nothing will bring him down. Also, a prison experience with a Callahan is something else entirely, let me tell you.

Melody, once she steps into the picture is the epitome of working mother. She actually does really well with little Ethan, and manages to kick some major ass in the Mafia world at the same time. As far as female characters go, this lady is on top of the list. No, scratch that...she is in a league all on her own. No competition. You hear that Olivia?

“Never have I seen a pair so matched, so loved, and so insane.”

Both Liam and Mel have lost some of their more erratic traits and as a result appear to make more mature decision. As far as that is possible given their nature and business. Their relationship is elevated to whole different level; they struggle, they fight, they love and they are essentially very real.

Rule #50: We are Callahans, if anyone ever disrespects us, don’t just end them, end everything they have ever cared about both past and present. Make them the example as to what happens when you fuck with the wrong family.”

Now, I really like to be surprised sometimes and being in the characters heads, but still not knowing what they're up to is really f*ckng awesome from time to time.

I can tell you one thing: REVENGE is on the menu! Yes, that is revenge in capital letters. People who think they can mess with a Callahan are sorely mistaken and should bugle up for a bumpy ride. One enemy is already known, but could there be someone hiding in plain sight?

“I always win gentlemen. Even if it looks like I'm losing, I'm winning.”

American Savages was a powerful and emotional read for me. First and foremost I didn't want it to end, because saying goodbye to your favourite characters is always a hard thing. But that's only a small part, this books was also a roller-coaster ride of emotions for the Callahan family. Everyone had to check their priorities, allegiance and face some harsh realities. I was so enthralled by all the things going on that I had a hard time putting my kindle down.

I really liked how every member of the family got their time to shine and step up. Especially Declan and Coraline are up for the MVP-side-character award this time around.

Rule #14: Be ruthless people to outsiders who know who we truly are. Be generous to those who don't. And be the hart, soul and mind to the family.”

For me, Ms. McAvoy managed the right balance between ruthless shenanigans, absolute mayhem and utter heartbreak. There was this one moment where a big 'road with no return' sign was blinking up above my head....I swear it took my breath away. Make sure you are prepared and willing to go along with everything that happens. I promise when you come out on the other side it will be immensely rewarding and a whole lot of bitter-sweet.

Enjoy! I know I did. ;D

Oh, and before I forget it...there is more to enjoy. If you haven't heard about it by now...I don't know what you're doing, living under a rock or something. But there is a novella out as well Declan + Caroline. Next up for me. Once I can find some time.

Thank you Ms. McAvoy!

Re-Read (12/2018): I love that in this book Mel and Liam go savage, like really savage. It does not matter who stands in their way, innocent or not people are dying left and right. Which is the part that I like about this book... I'm weird, I know.

The thing I do not like is the epilogue, especially since the epilogue is actually the fourth book in the series.

However, the Italian is still sort of messed up. I'm not claiming that I'm an expert in Italian, still a beginner. However, I can pick up some things that are simply wrong, and certain sentences even make no sense.

Plus, the book has its usual share of typos. It's begging for a better editor.

But despite this all, I still like this book. But, I think there will be no other re-read in a long time.

ORIGINAL:
They are back and more ruthless than ever. There is nothing they won't do to avenge themselves, and no one who stands in their way is safe. I really liked it. Thought the beginning was a bit painful to watch.

- Just wish it wasn't that easy for her.

I don't get the point of the epilogue since there is the fourth book.

Don't cross the mob and you get to live. How many more mafia movies does Robert De Niro have to be in before people get that?

WARNING: Unpopular opinion alert

Let me preface my review by saying that clearly I'm in the VAST minority with my opinion. Most of my friends absolutely loved this book. So please take what I say with a grain of salt and keep in mind that it's just my opinion. While it may not have worked for me, it may just work for you.

I realize that I'm reading fiction and I'm reading for enjoyment. However, I'm also an extremely analytical reader that finds it next near to impossible to shut my brain off and I tend to be picky. If you can take this book for what it is, you'll most likely enjoy it. As for me? I felt that it took me completely out of the realm of reality. It was way too OTT for my tastes. Additionally there were quite a few plot issues that clearly had not been properly researched. Having knowledge of these particular things, made them stand out to me like a freaking neon sign. I'm of a mind that if you're going to be writing about a particular culture, government agency, etc, you need to know what you're writing. Getting even the most minute detail wrong can take something great and shoot it into something not so great in the span of a second.

Now here's the thing, I loved the first book. Like five starred loved it. While book 2 wasn't quite as good for me, I was really anticipating this conclusion to this epic story. I couldn't wait to dive back into the ruthless world of Mel and Liam, especially after that cliff hanger in The Untouchables.

I'm a romance reader at heart, and there's nothing better for me than a dark and gritty one. BUT and this is a big but, the romance has to be the predominant part of the story. I have to be able to like the characters I'm reading about and sadly I fell completely out of love with Mel and Liam in this book. Clearly these characters are not heroes, or even anti-heroes. They're the villains, and they're cutthroat. But just because I know that they're not the good guys and obviously are not going to do good things, doesn't mean that I want front row seat to the show. I don't want to read (in detail) about the torture and death of innocent victims at their hands That was the beginning of the end for me. As soon as that happened, I was so bothered that I began to nitpick practically every other thing that I didn't like.
What can I say?

I should have just DNF'd, but I wanted to see how it ended...so I pushed myself through.

Unfortunately the further I read, the further we began to get from the scope of reality. Some of the things that take place were so completely over the top they were just plain unbelievable. Let's allow that a mafia family is so powerful that can afford to buy their own "puppet" into presidency. But let's not forget certain things like political protocol and how things work either...
"The FBI are the police of the United States! I am the head of the United States...

Fine. I won't touch on the errors of ^^^ that. However, when said mafia comes to said president asking for EXTREMELY confidential list of undercover FBI agents, the president, no matter being the head of the United States does NOT have the power to get that information overnight. It doesn't matter if he's going to be going to the head of the FBI...

Then you have a 'terrorist threat' making a demand that the head of FBI and the president both stand down or else they're going to and the president says this?
I have congressmen, governors, the FBI, CIA, and Interpol turning to me for a plan!

Really? Where's the NSA during this kerfuffle? How about Homeland Security? Or the fact that the president is not going to be the sole decision maker here.

Then there was the epilogue where we leave the realm of possibility so far, I felt I was in a different universe. I mean FFS. Really? Le sigh.

Maybe if the over abundance of gratuitous violence didn't initially turn me off I could have looked past the rest of the issues I had, but it did and I couldn't. I wouldn't really categorize this as a romance, or at least it wasn't for me. This was more suspense and thriller with a erotic sex scenes. But when it started getting so OTT, I quickly lost touch with the romantic aspect of this book (as in I couldn't even remember it)

I told you all I'm a picky bitch.

Sadly, as much as I was looking forward to this book, it really didn't work for me. While I enjoyed the first 30%, I had to push myself through to the end. It just wasn't my cuppa. So many people loved it though, so please take my review for what it is: just one opinion. Read it yourself and form your own.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book, I'm sorry it didn't work out for me.

This is my life. Our life. And I wouldn’t have traded it for the goddamn world.

Damn! What a RUSH, it didn't just end with a bang, the whole damn thing was a bang, like the ultimate fireworks display! Captivating, Addicting, Dangerous, Sexy and so completely over the top....I loved every second of it! I can't say too much, so I'll try and give you what I can, because this is one of those you just have to live through yourself!

American Savages is a family affair, sure it revolves around Mel and Liam, but everyone has a part with the same goal. Protect the Family and the Legacy.
When you stand against us, you will be removed. When you betray us and endanger our lives, you die.

Liam and Mel continue on their dysfunctional marriage, with the same issues as before; Mel not knowing how to let anyone in or how to ask for help.
I needed her to need me as much as I needed her.

This is what she was born to do, what she has prepared her whole life for. She is a fighter, a lioness who protects and does anything for her family; and to stand strong next to Liam.

It's the fight of their life, while rebuilding the downfall of Mel's disappearance and Liam's incarceration, they have to deal with threats from all sides. Revenge, Vengeance and reeking havoc across the land. Payback is a bitch and the man responsible will get everything he deserves and more...
“Clothes covered in red,

Eyelids sore and blue,

Never forget the ruthless

Because they won’t ever forget you.”

— J.J. McAvoy

What an EPIC ending to an EPIC series! It was non-stop action from the very first page. There was playful banter, feisty comebacks, angst, drama, suspense, chills and lots and lots of thrills; angry sex and graphic torture. This isn't a series for everyone, these people are ruthless, they are savages, wolves in sheep's clothing, so be warned.

I lived each moment with them, this multiple POV game me all I needed from all angles, but never once making it confusing. It helps because they have so many balls up in the air, they all have to make sure that nothing drops. I learned to expect the unexpected and I have to say with everything that has happened, I still managed to be surprised. Bow down to Ms. McAvoy because she has managed to produce such a tale that will forever stay with me. This is definitely a series worth recommending and sharing with like minded friends.

After the ending in Untouchables I was dying for this one. I wasn’t sure how things would pick up and what direction JJ would take us on for this epic conclusion.

We can’t all be the phoenix, some of us have to be the ashes.

The story begins with Liam. As you know he is in prison awaiting trail on charges of killing Melody. This was such a difficult thing to read, my heart was breaking for Liam. My frustration with Melody was growing with every page and that really bothered me. The biggest thing about this series has been how much I have loved these characters. They are insane and obviously ruthless, but I love their craziness and I have always loved Melody’s strength.

I hate to say it but I was losing faith and that just shows my weakness, because I should never doubt JJ. Things came together perfectly and we started in on this final journey. There are so many things that need to be resolved.

Liam and Melody learned they had a mole in their midst in Untouchables. While they may have cleaned house, there is still too much at risk and they need to secure things. There is also a lot of catching up and forgiving that needs to be done where they were both away for 5 months.

My favorite thing about JJ’s writing is she takes you on this journey and it’s insane and unpredictable. I love how she can keep me on the edge of my seat dying for more and despite how closely I am paying attention she still surprises me. I love how these characters have become family to me. Being able to see their POV’s allows you to get to know them.

'There are no pants in Mel’s and my relationship, we both prefer to be naked.'

Melody and Liam stole my heart back in Ruthless People the are unique. They are ruthless and don’t apologize for their actions, they don’t even see the error in their ways. Then to have these two crazy strong characters become completely weak when it comes to each other. Their connection is real, hot and unbelievable. They are a perfect match!

I loved this story and then to get this awesome epilogue, it was just the cherry on top. Honestly, it just made me want more! I highly recommend this series! It is unpredictable, crazy, and leave you wanting more.

"Never forget the ruthless

Because they won't ever forget you."

Melody and Liam Callahan are a couple that I LOVE. This series will be in my All Time Favorites. The author managed to write a story that gripped me completely. Twists and turns, smiles and tears, love and hate, life and death, it had it all and then, it had an epilogue that was brilliant!!

This book is the ending to a trilogy. I can tell you about the story but if you haven't read the first two books then I feel telling you things will spoil your ride.

But what I want to tell you is to READ THIS SERIES. It's about the Mafia, it's about killing, it's about revenge BUT it's also about family, it's about love and it's also very sexy.

 photo 9042a23f03a8f5d87d960969ee04d616_zpsomk6k12r.jpg

JJ didn't hold back in this book. We see all the repercussions of Mel being away for months and Liam being in jail. Revenge is the motive in this book and it’s a wild ride. Did I mind what happened to Olivia- absolutely not!!!

The banter between Mel and Liam is one of the best ever. I can feel their connection and it's really magical. Both being Bosses is quite extraordinary; their personalities are both dominant yet tender to one another. Mel's sass and Liam's forcefulness is truly amazing. I actually loved the dynamics of the entire family. Sedric and Evelyn, Declan and Cora, and Neal and Olivia are all instrumental within the family. Their roles enhance the story, give it depth and give it intrigue. It's quite special because no matter what, family is first........you live and breathe for your family and the Callahan Family does it spectacularly.

I do love Liam and Mel but I may favor Liam just a smidge more!!

I wish that I was somehow involved in the entertainment industry. This series would make a kickass HBO movie/series. I loved the Sopranos, I loved The Godfather trilogy, I just love all Mafia type movies ( I may be a little partial as I'm half Italian) and this series is pure entertainment at its best!!

Thank you JJ photo 2ni8cvm_zps401cda25.gif
for this incredible family, this wild ride and for all the 50 rules. I also loved how Liam added a 51st rule. I wish there were more rules to come but I can honestly say that I'm happy with the ending to this fantastic story.

WOW! I cannot express how much I absolutely loved this series! From start to finish, Liam Callahan and Melody Giovanni Callahan have been epic. They may have started out as an arrangement, but it did not take long to realize that they were PERFECT together! Smart, Sexy, Powerful, and Ruthless. They shed blood without a single thought and they thrive not on preserving the greater good...no they have one need above all else...FAMILY!

 photo PhotoGrid_1427058610167_zps0tsqkjme.jpg

American Savages opens with the perceived destruction of Liam and Melody. Liam is in jail...Melody is gone...the family on hold...betrayal abound. Just as Liam Callahan kept faith and bid his time, so did I! The return of Melody and the reunion was EPIC! Never has LOVE been so present than when a man and a woman reunite in anger, fear, and pure need. Now is the time to rule the world, right the wrongs...to AVENGE themselves!

 photo PhotoGrid_1427058708884_zpsrl8ihem2.jpg

HOLD ON TIGHT! Melody and Liam are amazing. They are a force to be reckoned with. Their thirst for revenge at the highest peak. Their love and need for one another is consuming. Their pain and loss and anger just fuel their fight to the end. No matter what, they stay true to their foundation. They both grow individually and together as a couple. For the love a child, for the chance at forever together they will fight to the very end and they will live by the rules of the FAMILY...

Yeah...WOW...this was me during the entire book. American Savages was brilliant, genius and awesome. It was the perfect and the worst book. Perfect because there could not have been a better ending and worst because it was the ending, the end of their story and I am going to miss them...the whole crazy and fucked up Callahan clan.

description

There is no point in starting this book without reading the first two novel in this series, Ruthless People and The Untouchables, because that's the only way you're going to experience the full impact of the Ruthless People series.

description

There really isn't any reason for me to get into the story because it will spoil all the fun but to put you're mind at ease, if you've read the previous novels and where left like me with you're hearts in you're throats, I can tell you that Mel comes back and Liam gets out of jail (it only takes them 5 months), but what comes after you can't even imagine...it will blow you're mind...

description

There will be revenge, blood spilled, death, bombs, torture and tears (the last one also from you readers...yeah...I'm not ashamed to say that I cried...I really did) but most of all this will be about family, love and the future.

So here's to the Callahan clan for keeping us on our toes and to J.J. McAvoy for giving us a wonderful story and (despite the fact the first book was published last year) one of the "must be read" series of this year :D

description

Later edit: I forgot to add the fact that there is also some fucking amazing spanking sex involved...men I have a dirty mouth :P

 photo American Savages - J. J. McAvoy_zpslreuf1se.png

Almost all the time when I read a trilogy/series about the same couple, I decide to read the books one after the other. As you may imagine, as many of you, I don't like to wait! LOL So, this time, I decided to read the Ruthless People series by J. J. McAvoy, and it was such a jorney.

This series consists on three books and a novella. I already reviewed the novella because it's about another couple (the lovely Declan and Coraline) because it's easier for me when reviewing these three other novels. Click HERE to check it out! ;)

Now, Ruthless People, The Untouchables and American Savages are focused on the story between our two main characters: Liam Alec Callahan (now the hot Ceann na Conairte of the Irish mafia) and Melody 'Mel' Giovanni a.k.a Bloody Melody or The Boss (the "secret" ruthless boss of the Italian mafia). And this is not your typical love story, people. This is fucked-up, mindblowing writing. This story is about love (of course!) but also betrayal, crime, violence, family, police, mafias, politics, etc. So many things, that's why it's different and amazing!

“I. Am. All. You. Have. Just as you are all I have—fuck Declan, Neal, Olivia, Coraline, even my parents. My family and loyalty start with you and you alone. The sooner you fucking realize that, the sooner we can get back to losing ourselves within each other and actually killing all those who stand against us.”

Through this reading of the whole series, I've fallen in love with McAvoy's writing. I love that she always starts the chapters with a quote (very well-chosen quotes). I love the descriptions and the dialogues. J. J. McAvoy managed to write a fantastic series full of emotions, misteries and very different and complex characters.

Yes, these books are dark. Yes, they are violent and full of suspense. But, within all these things, it all comes back to the same topic: family comes first. I love that! I love the relationship of all the characters in the Callahan family, especially the children, Declan and Coraline and Liam's parents. They go through very very difficult times (all the characters) and I found myself laughing, crying, and feeling all types of emotions with them.

She is the most important thing to me. She is everything. (Declan)

Liam, I swear to you, I will always come back to you. I love you. I need you. You are home to me. Ethan and you are my only family, the only people I would die for. You are it. You are everything. (Mel)

See what I mean? AMAZING!

So, the Ruthless People series is an emotional roller-coaster but totally worth it! I loved it, especially the last book when we finally see and have Mel and Liam's (the family's) revenge (you will see why, so sad!) and happy ending. Loved it, I love it when books really get to me and my emotions.

Therefore, my rating is the following: 5+ stars for American Savages and 5 STARS for the whole series because, again, the journey with all these characters was outstanding. This will not be my last J. J. McAvoy's read. Totally recommend if you are into dark/suspense erotica romance.

I don't know what to feel. I'm happy because the final book was FANTASTIC and sad because it's the FINAL book! Seriously no more Sexy Liam or Bloody Melody!!!!

description

Ruthless People is such a fantastic series. The plot is unpredictable from start to finish, every book left you craving for more!
I love the way she has numerous POV throughout the book. I personally enjoy reading dual POV but this book has several points of view and I just loved knowing how people really saw the situation and it wasn't one sided.

I wont get into the story because readers should experience this roller coaster ride! But I will say that Ruthless People is one of best Mafia series EVER!!!!

I don't wont to let the Callahan's go, I loved reading their story.
And that epilogue, it was so good. Honestly, it just made me want more!

LIVE!!! AMAZON LINK

American Savages is the last part of the Ruthless People trilogy.
If you haven't met this kickass couple, I have one thing to say.... What are you waiting for?

description

I had the extreme pleasure to receive an ARC for this outstanding story and I hope you will give this series a try.

American Savages is so much more than a book about a couple (Melody and Liam). It's also about an entire clan, an entire family - the Callahan.

As in the previous book, you have many points of view (maybe a little less) to fully immerse yourself in this terrific journey.
We get back in the story with Liam left alone in jail waiting for his trial. No matter how he claims his innocence about Melody's disappearance, nobody wants to believe him.

description

From the beginning my heart was hurting for him. He was really secretive but he only wanted one thing: to be with his family, especially his son Ethan.
He wanted Melody as much but he was angry toward her and he didn't know what to do about it.

description

For those who know Melody, you already know that she has some issues with her feeling and how to express them. She never knows how to deal with those feeling because she was never taught to let someone in. Liam is the first and only one to break his way into her heart.
He's so in love with her. It's beautiful to see and he wishes she would show him how much she needs him someday.

description

Once they are back together and after some adjustments, let me tell you they are more ruthless than ever! Yep, it is in fact possible.

description

Nobody will stand in they way and be assure that if you want to betray them or try to overstep them, you won't get a chance

description

During most of the book I was wondering how J.J.McAvoy will handle all the different problems the Callahan were dealing with because when you are the most powerful family, it comes with a price. And everyone thinks they can have a little of that power... But nope, not with the Callahan

description

At some point I was holding my breath. At every page, you are wondering what will happen, if you have guess right or wrong, how the family is going to react. That's what I call good anticipation!
I also loved the calm J.J.McAvoy provided in this story before the storm.

Everything falls into place for those who can wait and I can promise you won't be disappointed.
I know I don't give much details but saying much would spoil the book.
At the centre of this book, Melody and Liam keep growing and keep surprising me scenes after scenes. They are hot together. Their attraction comes in full force and be ready for some dominant Liam

description

description

You will see how strong both of them are and it was a real pleasure to see them grow as a couple but as a person as well

description

The other characters are taking a huge part here and they always intervene at the correct time.

Declan and Coraline are my second fav' couple. I'm so happy to see we have a novella with their story ( Out Now)

Evelyn and Sedric are two perfect grandparents, always wise when they talk, always there when we need them ♥

Neal an Olivia... I don't know what to say about them...

description

Now I'm a little sad because as much as I enjoyed all of them, I don't feel ready to let them go yet... J.J. McAvoy, would you write another novella maybe?

Crazy, funny and completely OTT

Wow.
Okay, I'm not sure where to start with this it was crazy and OTT, let's be honest it left OTT well behind along with logic and reason now this is not a realistic read and I struggled a little at times early on I mean yes, I know it's fiction and entertainment but I'm picky and I can't help it I had an issue with the previous book but that's nothing compared to what I had here but despite all this I was hooked, completely, I just couldn't put it down.
The first book 'Ruthless People' was fabulous, funny and crazy and brilliant. The second 'The Untouchables' started the same but became more, a more serious read. This book, well this is just out there, way out there and the key is to just go with it.
Despite the above I loved it and I'd totally recommend it and while I don't give 5* often or lightly the fact that I was up most of the night finishing this means I can't really give less.
Now I believed this was the last book in this series and therefore the end of Liam and Mel's story but it turns out there's another book 'A Bloody Kingdom' (Ruthless People #4) which is due out this year.
I will add that this book has closure, there's no cliffhanger and I was happy for the series to end this way, although I'm thrilled there's going to be another.
This series has given us some great characters, mesmerising story, laugh out loud humour and some fabulous lines a few of my favourites from this book are below.

"I enjoy going on dates with you, Mel. They make me feel as like we met normally and I swept you off your feet."
"Swept me off my feet? Is there a reason why I can't walk?"

"I can't believe he's gay"
"Not all gay men run around with rainbows and sprinkles shooting out of their asses."

"Women underestimate how f***ing painful this is," he grumbled.
"Maybe that's because we're comparing it to the fact that once a month Mother Nature punches us in the uterus for a week."

i loved and adored the first two books!! ever since i started this series, i've always had respect in the author's decision for Melody (h) and Liam (H) to be equal, physically (aka they fr fight each other). although i have no problem whatsoever with the usual heroines i read, Melody felt refreshing for a change. i also liked how they matched each other beyond the physical aspect and it's what made them such a badass couple in my eyes. i truly did love them, but i honestly would have preferred this to be a duet rather than having a third book. this was a bit more draggy and forced, imo. :/ it was an okay read, overall. my love for Melody and Liam are still there, but i didn't have the same feeling of excitement as i did with the previous books, unfortunately.

*spoiler free*

Exceptional. Notorious. Unstoppable.

I still remember last year when I saw the old blurb, I knew I had to read this one. It was mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Smith meet Soprano. I mean how could I pass this up. Now that I finished the entire trilogy, I got to say I absolutely love this series from the start to finish, even with the tone getting darker and darker and the characters getting more OTT.

The plot is unpredictable from start to finish, every book left you craving for more, surprising revelation at every stop, the sex is hot and animalistic, and there is enough violence and blood to drown a village. There is no justice, no conscience, no redemption.

Liam Callahan, the Irish mob prince had a God complex and as cocky as they come. He had an impulsive and devil-may-care attitude that drove you nut.

Melody Giovanni, the Italian mafia princess is like a man in a female body. She is a control freak and one of the toughest heroine I had encounter and totally kick major ass, including Liam.

They are ruthless, untouchables and the savages.

Their got married due to an arrange marriage to make their family stronger, but together they found solace and strength in each other. Their relationship grew so far, from the moment Mel shot Liam during their first meeting, to having a family and enduring the ultimate fight against their enemies. I like how they were both so committed to the marriage from the get go. Even with them being married from Book 1, their relationship never lose any spark throughout the series.

"There are no pants in Mel's and my relationship, we both prefer to be naked."

They are match made in Hell. Together they wrecked havoc from the street of Chicago to Washing DC.

There is so much violence and death here that I had stop being squeamish and questioning my own morale. McAvoy really don't hold back any punches when it comes to ditching out the violence and retribution. The main character is the ultimate villain and I still rooting for them to win. I'm not going to mentioned about the plot because that's too spoilery and is gonna ruin the surprise. Let just say is one of the more convoluted, action packed mafia plot that I've ever read. Totally OTT and I couldn't care less. Imagine the Expendable kind of badassary.

The Ruthless People trilogy is recommended for those who loves mafia story and not squeamish towards violence and loving bad people. The plot is rich and unpredictable, filled with action, danger, violence and for those romance readers, you will fall in love with Liam and Mel, the most badass husband and wife duo.

Because they won't ever forget you."

I find getting my thoughts together after reading this hard. This series will leave you raw and wanting more. It will mess with your head and make you doubt that you are actually a good person. You've spent 3 books rooting for the bad guys, wanting them to win no matter what. They kill people and sell drugs and just spread terror wherever they go, and yet you want them to get a HEA. I think that really speaks to just how amazing a writer J.J. McAvoy really is. She MAKES you love these messed up people. And she does it without any bullshit redemption story line. These people are perfectly okay with who they are. And that is kind of beautiful in a messed up way.

We open with Liam in jail, waiting for his trial and for Melody to get her ass back from wherever she went. I loved their reunion and I loved baby Ethan. Every scene with the three of them was so damn cute. I enjoyed watching Liam and Melody do something completely normal as feed their child applesauce while at the same time they plan to completely take over the world and destroy their enemies. It was a great contrast.

Even though I am sad that the series is over, I'm still completely happy with how it ended. I will always want more about Liam and Melody, but that is just a sign of completely amazing and well written books.

So if you are looking for a series that will make you feel every emotion, happiness, love, anger, sadness, and rage. If you are looking for a series that is completely unpredictable, that will keep you guessing and a little scared. If you are looking for ruthless characters that will do anything to stay alive and stay on top. This series is for you. You will not regret entering into this world of Ruthless People.

“We bend, but we do not break, and when we snap back, someone always suffers. Tomorrow, we will make sure that the message is clear: we can never be broken.”

Well it was with excited anticipation mixed with a heavy heart going into American Savages. Excited to see just how this whole crazy, suspenseful, frenzied, sexy and addictive series was going to end yet sad that we had to say goodbye to a mad bunch of character’s whose every fucked up word we’ve been hanging on to since meeting them last year.

“You’re going to be a mother****ing Callahan. You’re going to be ruthless. Do you understand me?”

Mel and Liam are back and once again wreaking havoc on those who stand in their way, dealing out their own brand of justice to those who seek to betray them, seeking revenge on those who have hurt the family and in the process adjusting to the changes in their family life…not to mention some very, VERY HOT and sexy times thrown in.

“When I’m done, you’ll need it every day for the rest of your life. I’m going to make sure you are only addicted to me in both pleasure and pain. Any questions?”

We have to admit this wasn’t our favourite book of the series, but that in no way means we didn’t enjoy it. In past books our adrenaline spiked to crazy levels, our hearts pounded and stomachs knotted as Mel and Liam created havoc and mayhem wherever they went. All in the name of family of course! We barely had time to come up for air in the first two books before JJ McAvoy threw something else at us, leaving us breathless.

“Don’t cross the mob and you get to live. How many more mafia movies does Robert De Niro have to be in before people get that?”

American Savages sure did have those tangled storylines we love and there were definitely some heart palpating moments and a shock or two, but there was also a lot of superfluous text and repetition that slowed the flow and dare we say…there were a couple of times through the middle of the story we found ourselves wanting to…..*gasp*…..skim read. But then she would bring us back into her world allowing us to become consumed and addicted, but when the story dragged, it dragged us down with it sadly. It was very unexpected!

Liam has grown so much throughout this series. Apart from the family business responsibilities, he’s made his marriage and family his priority, and his love for Mel was without question. We felt his love deep, deep in our hearts and we’ve experienced such a change in him. We’re in Liam love! He never failed to prove his love both verbally and through his actions.

“She drives me insane, she’s the only woman I want to scream at and make love to at the same time. She can make me smile with a single glance or glare. She sings in the shower and it’s God-awful. And when she comes out, she pretends as if it didn’t even happen. She kicks me in her sleep because she doesn’t understand where her side of the bed ends and where mine begins. She is bossy, brilliant and she’s beautiful….and I’m hopelessly in love with her.”

With Mel, we felt the shift in book two but through American Savages, we would swing between believing and feeling her love and in the next breath questioning it. She’s a hard nut to crack and she definitely kept us on our toes. We felt slightly disappointed that she never showed us a true vulnerable side with Liam.

“It was selfish of me. I know. But I wanted…I needed her to need me as much as I needed her.”

There is a lot to take in in this story and we had to have our wits about us. JJ McAvoy is a brilliant storyteller and never shies away from delivering the passion, the violence and the cruelty of Mel and Liam’s world and for that we thank her because these two felt unique and refreshing. There’s certainly only one Mel and Liam, they don’t do things by halves and we bloody LOVE them for it!

“That really is the secret to making it; having someone at your side who is willing to fight for you, die for you, kill for you………”

The epilogue was fantastic, even if there was a little eye roll on the last page….yeah, we’re not buying that one haha! To see these two arrive at the point in that epilogue was a touching, amusing and brilliant end to what is undoubtedly one of our favourite fucked up series! Oh and the rules…LOVED the rules! Hmmm did Liam really make them up as he went along? We’re still not sure.

‘Clothes covered in red, Eyelids sore and blue, Never forget the ruthless, Because they won’t ever forget you.’ J.J. McAvoy

Oh don’t you worry JJ McAvoy…we won’t ever forget Liam, Mel, the Callahans, the Giovanni’s and this whole fabulous series!

Best damn crime erotica I've ever read. Review to come. Maybe. Or not. This series is just so good I have no words to express my love for it. 4.5 stars!

It was everything I wanted it to be. Dark. It had torture, lots of blood, strong and interesting characters, and a great plot. Like an actual plot that involved terror-plots, the FBI and governments, the family "business"? revenge and betrayal. AND THE SUSPENSE! So damn good. I'd highly recommend this series!

WOW what a journey American Savages was, I felt all sorts of emotions while reading I felt anger, happiness and sadness for all the Callahan family.

I was gripped from the first page till the last and the last few chapters HOLY HELL I was on the edge. I loved the epilogue It was great catching up with everyone and it was also very sweet.

This was a fantastic conclusion for Liam and Melody and how cute was little Ethan and all the family time made me smile.

And I got my wish from my The Untouchables review how wrong was it that I was cheering while that was happening :-).

I absolutely loved this whole series. When you read the first one you surprise yourself because as ruthless as the main characters are; you can't help but like them. Both Liam and Mel are alphas and they make it work. The second glues the first book and third together and believe me when you finish the second, have the last one ready cause you want to know what happens. With this one "American Savages" all I can say is J.J. McAvoy you out did yourself. It kept you on the edge of you seat and towards the end what a twist!!! The story was OUTSTANDING, and appreciate that she did it all within three books and didn't drag their story out. So excellent read and I recommend it to all...
