BAYSIDE SERIES

Creating value in our shade products is at the heart of our commitment to building a great customer experience. Our Polyester fabrics are a great example of this core principle. Using proprietary and special blends of Polyester, we create canopies that hold their color longer than our competitors, and are easy to maintain.

Polyester Fabric

Polyester materials are strong, so they resist shrinking and wrinkles. They are tough enough to withstand abrasion so the cover will hold up even after long periods of outdoor exposure. They are hydrophobic in nature, drying quickly so the fabric won’t get ugly mildew build up. Finally, because we retain our own specifications, you get the benefit of our cost savings. All of this makes for an umbrella that has the best possible benefit for your outdoor use, and with a great value to you.

It can be good umbrella if few things fixed...
I bought this umbrella despite bad reviews. Umbrella is made in China so you can't expect anything good.Lots of reviews stating that crank or cable brakes after few uses... I think I found solution to that.Plastic pulleys used in this umbrella are just worth of crap. Upper pulley hub is too narrow which allow too much sliding inside poleand and gets damage very quickly because of rivets. Pulley in contact with rivets create sharp edges and bites rope which create harder pull on crank. Since I have access to machine shop I've decide to replaced all pulleys in this umbrella. I made pulley hub wider and from better material. Now everything works smooth. Next issue for lot of people was how unstable base is... It all depends how much weigh you are going to use.I'm not big fan of this design either! I new from very beginning that this umbrella have a bolt pattern which is used to bolt into cross bracket or it could be used for bolting directly into deck or concrete pier. Once again I went to machine shop to make my self a mounting bracket in ground.I dug about 30" hole x 15" diameter inserted my newly made stainless steel bracket, poured 3 bags (80 lb) of mortar mix and waited 24 hr. Bolted my umbrella over weekend and this thing it's not going to fall ever! :) It was more challenge/project for me and might not be for others. I paid $145 for umbrella which comes with cheap poly fabric. Costco had on sale ($95) 9' 8 pole umbrella with "Sunbrella" fabric. Since offset umbrella was disassembled I've switched canvases. I did put cheaper canvas on Costco's pole and sold it on Craigslist for $65. So for $200 I've now perfectly working umbrella with Sunbrella Fabric with stable base. I hope this could be helpful for some to take a challenge but for most I wouldn't recommend this product because requires some fixing work.

Great for the price. Reasonable quality for the price. Didn't want to spend 300 at this time for a little shade at our winter home. If it lasts a few seasons I will be happy.

The umbrella broke after about 3 uses - I traced the problem to a defect in the way the handle mechanism was assembled. I Contacted the manufacturer asking for a contact so I could get a replacement part. Their reply - "You will need to contact Amazon for any warranty issues". I emailed them again, and they didn't even respond. My experience in the past with other manufacturers was that they were usually very helpful, so with an item this large, it was an even larger dissappointment.

So I sent the entire umbrella back (Amazon is great) and ordered an Ace Evert Banana Offset Umbrella (8511). Slightly more expensive, but much better quality.

I would have given the California umbrella 2 -3 stars if it wasn't for the lack of customer support. Not very heavy duty, and the spring/latch mechanism that holds the umbrella in open position looks like it wouldn't last more than one season.

My advice - stay away from California Umbrella.

We love this umbrella! Completely changes our deck. Quality construction with stainless steel cable rather than
synthetic material that tends to break in cheaper umbrellas. I bolted it to the deck which it is set up for. This
is a much better mount than the water or sand filled bases. Gives us the shade we needed for our spa. Good product.

I bought the brick red umbrella and after 6 weeks noticed that it was already fading! Also, there is already a tear in the canvas. The company is no help at all. I have contacted 2 people and they just keep citing their 30 day return policy. They do not seem concerned that the quality of what they sell is crap! I had my previous umbrella for 5 years and this one may not last until October and THEY DON'T CARE that I spent 200 bucks on an inferior product!

I agree with the rest of the 1 star reviews here....bad quality, hard to open, problems with the cranking system it was skipping when opening and closing so I new it will brake any day. I returned mine 3 days later, had to pay shipping sending back!!!!
Also antique beige looked a lot darker when I got it. Almost brown color...very disappointed and upset about the shipping charger I had to pay $32.00 but I just couldn't wait to get it out of my house fast enough.
Read the other reviews before purchasing this item!!!
