After more than a year in the making, Carmine’s opened its doors in the Forum Shops at Caesars on Tuesday.

Touted as the largest non-nightclub restaurant in Las Vegas, the 27,000-square-foot Italian eatery now employs more than 200 people and offers more than 700 seats.

The two-level Carmine’s takes the place of the former Planet Hollywood Restaurant. The restaurant has private areas for special events and a terrace facing the forthcoming Linq promenade.

Carmine’s first opened in Upper Manhattan two decades ago and later expanded to Times Square. The restaurant now has locations in Washington, D.C., Atlantic City and the Bahamas.

The Italian menu is anchored by traditional family-style dishes, including a 9-inch-tall plate of eggplant parmigiana.
