Virginia Tech's Presidential Scholarship Initiative is helping 97 students achieve their dreams of getting a college education. In 2009, we profiled the first group of students to receive full scholarships to Virginia Tech under this program. In 2010, we welcome a new group of students who have proven themselves in the classroom and as leaders, and who also showed great financial need. Learn more about them and the Presidential Scholarship Initiative. You can also watch last year's Presidential Scholarship video here: vimeo.com/6855508.
Virginia Tech plans to offer up to 50 scholarships to incoming undergraduates each year through the Presidential Scholarship Initiative. Private donations are expected to fund much of the program, which already is helping 98 students, including Chantal Ghoussoub (pictured). Significant support for the initiative already has come from Paula Robichaud ’77, of Palo Alto, Calif., who made one of the five largest scholarship-fund gifts to the university in fiscal 2010. Additional fundraising is ongoing.
