Marquis Chosen CCIW Softball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan freshman Mackenzie Marquis, who threw the first no-hitter at IWU in over two years, was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin "Pitcher of the Week" for softball on Tuesday, March 31.

Marquis (Herscher, Illinois, Herscher HS) finished with a 2-0 record in five appearances with a 0.36 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched last week.
She pitched a seven-inning no-hitter in a 3-0 shutout of UW-Stevens Point in game two of a doubleheader on March 29, the first no-hitter since Chloe Montgomery did it to Wheaton (Mass.) on March 14, 2013. Go here for a list of IWU no-hitters since 2003.
In game one against Stevens Point, Marquis pitched 3 1/3 innings and totaled eight strikeouts in a 4-3 win. Also in relief, Marquis also gave up no hits in 4 2/3 innings during a 10-5 win over UW-Whitewater on March 30. She currently has 11 2/3 consecutive no-hit innings.

A nursing major at Illinois Wesleyan, she is the daughter of John and Laura Marquis.

North Central senior infielder Kiersten Tinkoff was named the CCIW Softball "Player of the Week" Tuesday. She hit .600 (9-for-15) and totaled three runs, two doubles, seven RBI and a .733 slugging percentage for the 3-1 Cardinals last week.  She was 4-for-4 with three RBI in a 10-0 win against Thomas and 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI in a 9-0 win over Kalamazoo, both on March 24. Tinkoff then finished a combined 3-for-7 with two runs and two RBI in a split against St. Mary's (Ind.) on March 28.
