Publisher Description
Penniless and alone, Octavia Hadley accepted a governess position that took her to faraway Russia. Now she and her young charge are caught up in Napoleon’s invasion of Moscow.
Fleeing for their lives, the pair embark on a perilous trek northward, and to Octavia's dismay, the only way to reach the safety of St. Petersburg is to join forces with a roguish Englishman and his young nephew.
With the French army at her back and safety miles and miles ahead, the greatest danger just might be Alex Sheffield and the passion sparking between them.

Excellent
This was so much fun! I went off on a great adventure to Russia with two amazing people! They have internal hurts to overcome and external hurdles to overcome as well. I loved the two young people, I loved how they use a book to connect and survive in the things they face. Oh! It was such a wonderful adventure and I loved every moment! Please read it! I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
Heated arguments + cold shoulders = great romance
What a treat! I want to thank eBook Discovery for the ARC of The Storybook Hero, and this is my independent voluntary review. What a refreshing twist on the usual Regency romance! Forget teas and titles and waltzing at Almack's - Alex is a real storybook hero. After all the man takes on his disapproving older brothers, hired Cossack assassins, Russian ruffians, Bonaparte's army, and the Russian winter of 1812 in order to rescue a young nephew from foreign shores and family machinations. He crosses paths with Olivia, spunky, opinionated, well-educated and destitute, who is going to Russia to be a governess to an Anglo-Russian family. These two match wits and combine resources in a frenemy-to-fiancee relationship with passion, adventure, heartache and humor, and fans of this genre will delight in their story. Fabulous historic accuracy of details and tone, flawless dialogue and crisply paced narrative, engagingly three-dimensional characters - what's not to like? This is bookthreein a series, but author Andrea Pickens has made it work well as a stand-alone. It's even more of an enticement to read the first two books!
