Report: Evidence Suggests Eagles Prepared To Make A “Strong Play” For Marcus Mariota

According to Jimmy  Kempski of PhillyVoice.com, “evidence continues to build that the Eagles are going to make a strong play for Marcus Mariota.”

Kempski admits that he previously saw this as an “unrealistic” for the Eagles. However, Kempski writes that the Eagles appear to be “determined to get their guy.”

While the Eagles may in fact be interested in moving up the board to get Mariota, Kempski adds that these situations are extremely hard to predict months in advance based on the fact that there are a number of factors that would go into this even being a possibility.

Kempski sums up the situation by mentioning: “In other words, while the Eagles want Mariota and seem determined to make it happen, this is not a slam dunk.”

Previous reports have said that the Eagles would try to trade up for Mariota, and there is a chance that teams like the Titans, Raiders, or Redskins would be willing to trade back and pick up some additional drafts in the process.

However, there are other teams rumored to be interested in Mariota as well such as the Browns and possibly the Rams, so even if the Eagles are serious about getting Mariota, other teams could trump them based on what they can offer in terms of draft compensation.

Mariota finished his final year at Oregon by leading them to an appearance in the National Title game and managed to win a Heisman Trophy in the process.

Mariota threw for 10,796 yards while completing 66.8 percent of his passes to go along with 105 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions over the course of three years at Oregon.

We’ll have more regarding the Eagles possibly trading up for Mariota as the news is available.

  1. Titans should draft Mariota and force Philly to deal with them aand not hope he falls so they dont give up as much. Worst case scenerio is they later deal him to Cleveland or St Louis for less or just keep him and have him compete for the starting spot and have two tradable qbs in Mariota or Mett.

  2. I don’t think the Skins would want to trade with the Eagles. The comments so far fall short
when you look at what the Skins gave up for RGIII. A much more interesting approach would be the Browns. The Skins would get both #1s + in the deal and could trade either or both
if Scot can arrange it in a selective manner to get what he wants in both OL and DL requirements.
