Accuracy Raiting post 3.0

Of course, the 110% cap is "suggested" by players....not BW. So it may be intended that players can't hit the same rates in other areas and also maintain 110% accuracy. They did say that they were trying to reduce DPS output across the board.

Of course, that's correct. However, I doubt that they would make such a drastic change without informing us. The last thing I heard from the dev stream was that, given the removal of the 3% bonus from the skill tree, each point in Accuracy would give slightly more Accuracy Rating than before. Even if they put up the required amount of accuracy points to reach 110% by a bit, nearly doubling the amount would be...frightening.

Hey everyone,

I heard back from the Combat team, and Accuracy is right where it should be. The Accuracy change (more Accuracy Rating granting more Accuracy per point) that was mentioned on the Global Combat livestream and in the Patch Notes never ended up going out. Following internal testing, the team decided to not implement the change as they were happy with where it was when using high end level 60 gear.

With that being said, we are happy with DPS numbers as they are right now and therefore have no plans currently to adjust Accuracy. As always we will continue to monitor DPS and will make changes as needed.

Yes with highend gear... it doesnt make any sense still... first of all none of you guys post any actual stat change graphs or the likes... sure you can be decked all out with Ops 198 gear... set bonus and whatsoever... but for the previous steps to climb up there.. would be such a massive jump... which exact numbers do we need to get at for all this?

Thanks Tait! It's great to finally have this question answered so we get around to proper gearing.

It is good to have an answer to this question. However, with respect to your comment "we are happy with DPS numbers as they are right now" could you have the Combat team look at Balance/Madness? It seems to be significantly below Lightning/Telekinetics (arguably to the point where there is no reason to play Balance/Madness) which I believe is the opposite of what was mentioned in the Livestream.

You need 7 enhancement equivalents and one augment to hit 9% accuracy. Which is exactly where it stood at 2.0 release minus the augment. As your gear increases you can get more stats. It is working perfectly fine, people just can't handle change. It's also is in line with their desire to lower dps numbers as others are stats that increase your damage.

Well if you haven't already done so I suggest you fix the patch notes. It is extremely misleading to be talking about each point of accuracy being worth "more". That is what caused the issue in the first place.

While I appreciate the response, have to say I'm left shaking my head. Having to put roughly 760 points into acc to get to cap doesn't leave us a lot of room to play around with surge and alacrity (which you guys talked up so much before this expansion) to find out what works best.

More concerning though is the comment that "we are happy with DPS numbers". When watching the developer streams they talked about what the targets for the various dps in full 198 gear was. Currently there are numbers being posted by some players not even close to being fully min maxed in 198's that are blowing those "targets" away. , Then you have a burst spec like lightning outperforming madness in both burst and sustained dps by a substantial margin. I find it hard to believe that you can be "happy" with the DPS numbers.

Please tell me that statement is in regards to accuracy only and not class balance in general. If the team can't see the two specs currently dominating DPS and burst across the board then sweet Jesus we have a problem with your metrics.

You're assuming that they want people to be able to cap out all stats to the point of diminishing returns. Clearly, based on what they've said, they don't. Frankly, we shouldn't be able to cap out everything either....people should have to make tough choices about where they want to put their stats....not just blindly cap out everything.

Alright. That's good to know. That means, for 192 gear progression, I will propably settle for 108% accuracy and achieve the two percent difference at a later state. However, there is one thing I am concerned with:

...we are happy with DPS numbers as they are right now...

As mentioned previously, I think this change is really a one-way road in terms of early progression raiding. As I mentioned above, I will propably settle for the 107,5% accuracy I have at the moment and raise some other augments. This might not be a good thing to do in the early stage, but propably with later enhancements having a higher Accuracy Rating.

To put almost eight-hundred points into accuracy seems a bit excessive to me. 600 points would've been far enough, 650 maximum. It still leaves us with a considerable amount of points to aquire, but it makes some tinkering with stats quite possible. Right now, I'd need nearly 6 more augments to complete that gap (while already having two installed AND having more than four pieces with accuracy equipped), which leaves me less room for specializing my gear.

^^ Agree.

Most MMO players detest having to make hard choices...or any choices at all. :)

They want it ALL... and they want it NAO. :p

Thats fair. And i didn't mean to imply we should be capping out our stats at the beginning of the new tier. I just find accuracy to be a very boring stat. Was hoping when they talked about giving more accuracy per point with the loss of the talent in our trees that there wouldn't be such a big jump in rating needed. Was hoping for more of a budget to experiment with surge and alacrity (considering the way they talked it up) . But whatever, we adjust and move on. Still not sure how they can say they are "happy" with the dps numbers considering what we are seeing with some specs.

It's not entitlement if you are paying for it though, its a transaction. Customers have a right to ask for as much as they desire when they pay for a product, they may not get it, but they can ask for it and they should be able to do that without ridicule from the peanut gallery.

Yes, but the Accuracy situation is an illusion of choice.

As DPS if you wish to be taken seriously for OPs you NEED 100/110% Accuracy, because that's what the expectations are, because it has always been so. But to get to 100% Accuracy you have to spend such a huge budget of stat points that there is nothing left for other options. So there is no choice.

With my dps Commando fully equipped in the new 186 gear I'm at around 97.5/107.5% Accuracy. Once augmented I can probably push towards 100/110% but this will mean my Alacrity is a big fat zero. Yet I'm told "hey we've made Alacrity more relevant for dps". Well isn't that great, because I have zero budget for Alacrity because I am forced to try and cap my Accuracy.

And yes I know that if I upgrade from 186 to higher gear I might get enough Accuracy to eventually be able to re-augment into something else, perhaps even Alacrity. But it is never going to the case that I can stack enough Alacrity to make any kind of meaningful difference. So I might as well stack Power instead. Which is exactly where we were pre 3.0. Alacrity is once again a dead stat for dps.

Choice? What choice.

Nicely put.

They planned and worked for Alacrity to be awesome and stuff for dps, so it was going to be a stat be mixed with the others. But they did this while they were planning for a Accuracy "buff" due to the removal of the 3% from skills.

Howerver, at the last moment, they killed the buff killing the room needed for Alacrity. Brilliant.
