A 16-year-old boy shot in the head earlier this week died from his injuries on Tuesday, according to the Orange-Osceola Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police found Carldarious Patrick on the ground at the Ivey on the Lake apartment complex with a gunshot wound to the head about 6:30 p.m., according to an Orlando Police Department report.

An officer tried to put pressure on the wound, police said.

Patrick was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

The shooting happened exactly one week before his 17th birthday next Monday.

Two nearby cars had bullet holes, police said.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting; no one has been arrested.

The suspect may have been in a gray or taupe Pontiac Grand Prix, according to the police report.

Orlando Police spokeswoman Sgt. Wanda Ford said she had no updates in the investigation to release on Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
