Being kidnapped by an agent accused of some very bad things is probably not the best start to a relationship but for Karen and Tucker the danger they are involved in seems to work in strengthening them as individuals and as a couple. I really enjoy Katie's writing. The action scenes are great and the characters are distinct and unique. I am looking forward to the next crisis!

Book 4 of the Deadly Ops series had the best character development in the series. This series has really impressed me with the high level storytelling, likeable characters, hot sex scenes and a suspenseful mystery.

Tucker Pankov and his team are being framed but they have no idea who is after them and why. So they decide they need the help of Wesley Burkhart, the director of the NSA, but he won’t give them the time of the day. In order to get his attention, Tucker and his team kidnap Karen Stafford, Burkhart’s right hand employee. Thus now, they have two separate Governmental agencies hunting them.

Tucker Pankov and Karen Stafford’s story was a fast paced story and it was just as enjoyable as the last book. This was an on-the-run romance that surprisingly didn’t feel like Stockholm syndrome. Instead the reader can’t help but really pull for Tucker to find out who is being the cover-up, get Karen to completely trust and still get Burkhart’s cooperation. The main characters are both strong and resilient in their own right. Even though their pull was almost immediate, the attraction to each other was believable.

Again, Sophie Eastlake kept me entertained with her narration. She is a great fit for this series because each story has felt unique as I listened to them. I am really surprised at how much I am liking this series.

This is my favorite book in the Deadly Ops series. Edge of Danger is tightly written, a little gritty and oh, so sexually explosive.

Tucker is an undercover agent for the DEA. We first meet him in Shattered Duty. He is the agent who lends aid to Selena and Levi while working deep undercover. Unwittingly bound in a deadly conspiracy, Tucker and his teammates have to prove their innocence when they are accused of being terrorists.

In order to get the kind of help he needs, Tucker must make contact with one man who can assist him, Wesley Burkhart, the Deputy Director of the NSA. However, it is impossible to reach him by regular channels, so the team decides to get his attention via unconventional means – kidnap one of Burkhart’s favored agents, Karen Stafford.

This story is satisfyingly complicated, involving a lot of characters including players from other books to evil and dastardly conspirators out to start a war with the Middle East for profit. With twist and turns, the suspense is elevated to a can’t-stop-reading-now frenzy.

For me, the relationship between the two main characters makes this book a standout. Having worked undercover for many years, Tucker is used to holding back and denying his emotions. It’s what makes him a great undercover operative, but a stoic human being. Additionally, both Karen and Tucker face the challenge of having to keep their “real” job from newly forming relationship partners. You can almost hear an audible sigh when they both realize that for the first time, they have the freedom to truly be themselves. Liberation fuels the frenzy and potency of their attraction. As Tucker describes it:

“Stamina had never been an issue for him, at least not since he was sixteen, but the raw intensity of this situation was making everything in his brain short-circuit.”

In the past, I’ve been critical of some of the endings of Katie Reus’ stories. They feel rushed. This story’s conclusion is done so well with plenty of suspense and peril. Yes!

IN A NUTSHELL:
This book has all the right ingredients for a great romantic suspense read. It is book hangover worthy.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This series has been exciting from the get-go, and this book is no exception.

Tucker Pankov is taking a well-deserved break after being undercover as a bad guy for a while, when someone tries to kill him. He calls one of his other men, and surprise surprise, he'd been attacked as well. Their boss has been killed, and some of their men have been too.

So Tucker and the surviving guys meet somewhere safe and try to figure out what in the world is going on. Their plan? To temporarily kidnap a DEA agent who they think can help them. Yeah, not their best plan, but it's the only one they've got.

Karen is jogging when a team of big dudes grab her. She fights, but she isn't able to escape. She thinks she recognizes one of them...as the horrible henchman from the last book's bad guy. Well, she isn't wrong.

Tucker now has to prove he isn't the violent thug who works for bad guys, that he is in fact working for the US Government. But he also has to get Karen to trust him enough to try to find out who's after his team, and why. Not to mention he's incredibly attracted to her. Sure. No problem. Piece of cake.

Call her crazy, but Karen begins to trust Tucker and the guys. She also can't resist a good mystery, so she puts her skills to the test. And just as that trust is budding, there's a stolen drone used to attack a civilian area. And Tucker and his team are blamed for it.

Karen doesn't know what to believe anymore, and her attraction to Tucker isn't helping the situation. Wanting to help clear their names, Karen finds herself pulled deeper into government corruption than she'd thought possible. How can she help them when she's being blocked at every turn, and it's a bit closer to home than she'd expected.

Edge of Danger is full of edge-of-your-seat action, seductive romance, and non-stop excitement. You can't go wrong picking up a Katie Reus book, and you definitely can't go wrong picking up this book.

DEA Agent Tucker Pankov knows all about deceit, but when an assassin tries to kill him and his unit. Drastic times make for drastic measures, including kidnapping NSA analyst Karen Stafford. They mean Karen no harm but they need her help in figuring who has hijacked a a drone owned by the US. The one hiccup they didn't plan on was Tucker and Karen, both are attracted to one another but can they build something while their enemy is looking to wipe them out?

Action packed from the very first page. Roller coaster ride with so many twists and turns it never lets up. This was a fantastic read, I was riveted with every turn of the page. Was fascinated by Tucker, he is what heroes are made of.

Suspenseful undercover and delicious under cover….

If this is what goes on in the DEA, I need to go apply! You can save the world, the day, yourself and the girl. Of course, you have to kidnap her first…

Tucker Pankov is an undercover DEA agent but his tight-knit group is under attack. Their boss is killed and they are next if they can’t keep one step ahead of the people who believe they are traitors. With few options, they kidnap Karen Stafford, an NSA analyst, who is their link to escaping the mess they are dropped in.

The men and women here are top of their game and it’s beyond fun to watch them at work. I’d like to believe that people like this are keeping the world safe. Especially Tucker—he can safeguard me anytime. And I’ve staked my claim (no, no point in arguing). Strong, smart and with a take-charge, “get things done now” attitude, he is tantalizingly sexy. Well, that and the way he works with, and treats, the new woman in his life. He finds sexiness in the way Karen rocks her sweats, so auto-keeper right there. On top of that, though, he admires how she displays her courage, intelligence and loyalty. Their attraction is quick, yes, but it really has to be as the story plays out over a fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping couple of days.

Definitely leaning more on romantic suspense, Tucker and Karen still find time to not keep their hands off each other. Talk about good work under pressure!

Not only did I find a book I really enjoyed, I learned a lot too. I’m keeping this one in my pocket to use later!

Seriously, I think with the next new release from this series, I'm just going to pick it up. The Deadly Ops series is officially in the auto-buy category. Tucker made my knees weak with his heroism and Karen is the gal I want to be when I grow up. And the story? Grabbed me from the beginning and I didn't put the book down unless five alarm life needs were going on.

The book is the fourth book in the Deadly Ops series. It could be read as a standalone. The surrounding characters are recurring, but the plot, developments and romance are specific to this book.

Everything starts when Tucker Pankof, DEA undercover agent, returns from his last op only to be targeted in his own home, learn that his boss and mentor has been murdered, his clearance within the DEA is revoked, and he is now considered a fugitive. He and the other members of his team are being set up to take the fall for a series of other astounding events like the bombings by a stolen drone and connections to a terrorist organization. Their only chance is to get his boss' best friend who is the deputy of NSA to believe them and help them. Tucker has a daring plan to accomplish this.

Karen Stafford is a brilliant analyst for the NSA and up for a promotion that will put her in charge of a department. Out of the blue, she is kidnapped by a group of dangerous men. They give her their story and as scared as she is, the story rings true especially in light of another event going down. Her analytical mind sifts through the facts and her instinct is that they are being set up. Just as her instinct senses the attraction between her and Tucker. She cautiously agrees to contact her boss and Tucker agrees to come in. Before they can make it happen, their enemy discovers that Tucker and the others are alive and now are dangerous loose ends that have to be cut off. Karen is caught in the enemy's crosshairs, too.

Things happen fast and Tucker has to keep them both alive long enough to talk with Buckley and help figure out who is behind the bombings and set ups. Betrayal will run deep. Karen's strength and resilience cause softer emotions to surface and he now is determined to protect her with his life if necessary.

Alright, this one was off to the races without much set up and I was all onboard with that. The story divides not just between Tucker and Karen's POVs, but also the bad guys and other agents. Normally, I'm not keen on the villain's perspective particularly in a romantic suspense because it can give stuff away, but in this case, it heightened the tension. I loved the rock/hard place situation that Tucker was in and how he handled it. He was one guy with some serious skills and mojo. His team of guys weren't bad, either. Karen was a gal to ride the river with. She was scared, but always used her smarts. I enjoyed that the author didn't turn her into more than she was. She was an analyst with some field training, but she was comfortable in her role. I loved these two together. Boy howdy were they a quite the pair for some fast, hot, and dirty or some passionate loving when they had the time.

"Karen, I..." His fingers skated over her spine. "You've been through a lot in the last twenty-four hours. I don't want you to do anything you'll regret later. I...can't take advantage of you," he muttered. His voice was tight and raspy. He let out a low curse before she felt the bed dip as he got up.
Surprised, she turned over to find him striding out of the room in quick, hurried movements...
When she heard the shower in the guest bathroom start, she cringed again- until his words registered.
Words that had been in direct contrast to the signals she read in his face and body. He didn't want to take advantage of her? Fine, she'd take advantage of him.

p.154-155 Karen and Tucker from Edge of Danger

All in all, this was thrilling, intense, and another powerful installment in the series. Romantic suspense lovers who like the covert types and lots of passion with their suspense should pick this one up.

I think Edge of Danger has been the most suspenseful book in the series. The danger and sex wrestled for the starring plot line. I like it when they have equal page time in a romantic suspense story.

Another enjoyable book in the Deadly Ops series.

When Tucker Pankov and his team are targeted by assassins and stripped of their top-secret security clearance, Tucker decides their best option is to kidnap the only woman he thinks can save them in high energy romantic suspense.

Karen Stafford doesn’t life being forced into anything, especially by someone she doesn’t trust but with government installations being attacked she’ll have to join forces with Tucker and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the all the adrenaline pumping excitement as Tucker and Karen grow intimate and they uncover a conspiracy that runs deeper than they assumed. The attraction between Tucker and Karen take them both by surprise building lots of sizzling heat throughout their ordeal but of course the trust issue puts a bit of a damper on things and these strong, spirited characters claim reader’s attention from the get-go while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, action and romance.

The story starts off with intrigue that gets excitement and tension building and continues to keep readers on the edge as the bad guys stay on Tucker and Karen’s tail no matter which way they turn with the suspense growing as Tucker, Karen and their teams uncover a conspiracy that has their enemies closer than they realized. The vivid details and well-orchestrated events draw the reader into the story and refuse to let go with the adrenaline pumping and energetic action scenes being believable and making it easy for the reader to picture each and every one as it happens.

Once again, Katie Reus took command of the written word and brought fourth an exhilarating romantic suspense that gets the blood pumping and the imagination going and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Tucker Pankov's elite DEA team just lost their leader and became targets themselves. Someone is trying to eliminate them and if not, at least ruin their credibility and make them wanted men.

In a desperate attempt to talk to Wesley Burkhart, The Director of the NSA, who was their boss's trusted friend, they kidnap NSA computer analyst Karen Stafford.

Tucker is charismatic, intense, protective, and intuitive. Karen is smart, sweet, resourceful, sassy, and a whiz on analyzing data and understanding people. Although the situation is scary for Karen, she is brave and soon comes to realize that all is not as it seems.

Soon everything escalates from bad to worse with set ups, cover ups, political terrorism, and attacks. Tucker and Karen develop a rapport, find themselves thrust into situations that they have to work together and become protective of each other. Karen finds herself wanting to help Tucker and his friends clear their names. And they find themselves growing closer, developing an attraction, and sexual tension that just adds to their complicated situation. They will have to learn to trust and handle the strong feelings they are feeling in the midst of intense circumstances.

It will take all of their expertise, resources, and friends to figure out who the threat is and dismantle it. It is hard to know who to trust and what the agenda really is. But the threats keep getting bigger and the repercussions more dangerous not only for themselves but the public as well.

Can these ousted DEA agents and the NSA work together to bring down the perpetrators and in turn save lives? And what will happen to them when the adrenaline rush is over?

Some of the characters from previous books are featured including Wesley, Selena, Elliot, and Nathan Ortiz (he will be the hero in the next bookA Covert Affair). We also spend time with Tucker's team Cole, Brooks, and Kane. I enjoyed the team work and interactions. I liked getting both Tucker and Karen's points of view. The characters were really likable and relatable. Tucker was alpha and protective, but also charming and caring. And Karen was courageous, tough, and supportive. The story line had many layers, but the author was clear in explaining all of the political, financial, and power ramifications and motivations. I really enjoy this fast paced series with just the right amount of drama, suspense, mystery, steam, humor, and romance.

As an undercover agent, Tucker Pankof knows a thing or two about being ‘hunted’. Tucker’s boss has been murdered, his clearance with the DEA has been revoked, and he finds himself a target. Various members of his team are finding themselves accused of terrorist acts. Nothing could be further from the truth. Tucker now finds himself a fugitive. The only answer for himself and the team is to pull off a dangerous plight just to have their story ’heard’.

With a promotion on the horizon, Karen Stafford’s life couldn’t be better. What she didn’t expect was to be kidnapped. Soon Karen discovers the men who kidnapped her have a ‘tale’ that needs to be heard. In fact, Karen believes they are being set up. Plans are made for Karen to contact her boss, resulting in Tucker agreeing to come in. Now the group finds themselves fighting for their lives.

In the midst of the turmoil, Karen and Tucker fight their attraction. Time is running out and betrayals are running deep. Will they find overcome the odds and make it out the other side?

Edge of Danger is the latest book in the Deadly Ops series. It is full of action, suspense, and a red hot romance. As always, Reus finds a way to pack tons of energy and excitement between the pages of her books. Fans of the series will love seeing old favorites and will delight at the prospect of things to come. Overall - this is a quick read that I would easily recommend.

I loved this sexy and suspenseful installment in the Deadly Ops series. And I mean a capital S on the suspense. I normally like a little more oomph in the sex part but this story flowed so perfectly that their few chances were believable. I’m glad she didn’t throw in a few trysts just to have them in there. I had to read this book in one sitting as it had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning and never let up. I loved how Karen was strong yet not a hard operative. She was the perfect feminine counterpart to Tucker. I connected with both of them immediately and his team pulled me in also. I hope Ms. Reus has plans for them because their personalities scream for some page time. I loved it!

An assassin tries to kill undercover DEA agent Tucker Pankov the same week his boss is killed. And his DEA clearance is revoked. Tucker doesn’t know who to trust or where to go at this point, especially since there is a hit put out for all of the covert team of DEA agents. Now that his boss is dead, Tucker doesn’t know where to go for help but he remembered there is only one man that they know their boss trusted, Wesley Burkhart, Director of the NSA, but in order to get to him, they would go thru his assistant, Karen Stafford. Well when Tucker meets Karen it’s like instant chemistry between them. Tucker is one hot man-full of charisma and so protective while Karen is very smart and sweet-she is has a brain for a computer and can analyze data super-fast. When Tucker gets to Karen he ends up kidnapping her. Karen doesn’t understand why she has been taken and is very scared but makes the best of a situation for the time being.
Tucker is trying to get to the bottom of the conspiracy happening and to get his name cleared which is why he has kidnapped Karen. He needs her to help prove his and his crew’s innocence. There is a lot of suspense, mystery built into this story and we see Wesley Burkhart make another appearance in this book like he did in previous books. Tucker and Karen were dancing around the attraction they felt as they raced against time trying to get him and his team cleared and find out who was setting them up but as they did so, the chemistry was white hot and electric. Karen was a very smart woman who wasn’t about to sit back and let them boys’ solve everything while she sat back and played damsel in distress. She helped openly and freely –the suspense and mystery is great as the villain(s) are trying to be discovered. I loved the ending and I cannot wait to see more of Tucker and Karen in the next book. I cannot wait to see who the next couple is for the next Deadly Ops book. My only small concern is that I felt the ending was a bit rushed but other than that, I loved this book and really enjoyed everything there was to offer.

My rating: 4.4 stars ****

Best one..

So, I finished this book at 3:00 this morning and I have to tell you it’s my favorite of the Deadly Ops series. There seemed to be excitement on every page. I said the last book was the best but I take that back. THIS is the best of all of them.

There was a lot of sexual tension without being overdone. The first book, Targeted, there was something sexual on every page, just about. But this one had the right amount of everything.

And even though Karen had a TSTL moment it didn’t last long and she did help herself out of it.

And the characters were simply awesome. The good: Tucker, Karen, Cole, Burkhart, Kane, Brooks, Padilla, and I was sorry about Max Southers. The Bad: Hillenbrand, Rayford, and the awful DEA agent that I’m not naming.

I have to admit that Tucker was a killing machine, never letting the bad guys get the drop on him and killing without regret. He was one terrific hero. And Karen was a wonderful heroine. She never said stupid things like, “did you have to kill him?” She was an analyst for the NSA but she was never a damsel in distress.

I loved this book.

The F-BOMB was used 76 times and I think every one of them was necessary. But I know how some of you are. So, if you don’t like swearing don’t buy this book.

As to the narrator: Sophie Eastlake is one of my favorites! The men sound like men and that's the most important to me, and she reads with emotions, which some narrators do not. I'm always happy when I see she's reading the audible I'm buying.

I seem to be a sucker for these type of stories, the ones where the agent has been framed, then has to commit some crime to prove his innocence. This one fit that plot device perfectly. Tucker's crime is kidnapping Karen, who initially thinks he's a bad guy, but soon realizes he's not and helps him and his friends. Things from there go about how you expect they will, including how leery Karen's boss was about what had happened.

Tucker Pankov isn't having the best of times. First, his boss is killed, then he and his three teammates are targeted and their top-secret security clearances revoked. And when they try to contact their boss's friend, NSA deputy director, the man doesn't pick up. But Tucker has a Plan B that will get Burkhart's attention—kidnap the man's right hand, NSA analyst Karen Stafford.

Karen has all reason's to doubt her kidnappers' story...But they haven't hurt her and the files seem legit. And when they're labeled traitors by the stories in the media, accused of planting bombs...It all smells of setup and no one likes that.

Two gems in a row. What did I do to deserve this?

It might've started good, then lost its way a little, but now this series keeps getting better and better.

Another nail-biter, kick-ass-actiony story, but this time, instead of revenge, involving a man determined to clear his and his friends' names, find out who killed his boss and wanted to kill him, and stop traitors from getting into a higher position of power and start yet another war to profit from.

Tucker, the hero, was just the right mix of dangerous and protective, but the real (and pleasant) surprise was Karen, the heroine. For being just an analyst, she was surprisingly resilient and spunky without a damsel-in-distress bone in her body. Which was much appreciated. The romance was rushed (it all happened in a span of a couple of days), but with all that story crammed into such a tight space, with dangerous assassins lurking at every corner and the shadowy big-bad's constant presence, the time-span seemed longer and with so much time Tucker and Karen spent alone, literally dodging bullets, things naturally progressed as they tend to do in dangerous situations.

Though the romance was good, it was the suspense part that really shone. The action was good, the dangerous bits nail-biting, but it was the guessing game as to who was behind all of it and what might or might not happen next that truly drove the story forward.
I was most afraid of the endgame to the suspense. The motive and reasoning for treason had to be believable, not just an afterthought, otherwise it would've ruined the whole story. If you look at the rating, you know my fears didn't come true.

An action-packed page turner with a good balance between suspense and romance and a great cast of characters.

Review:

Undercover DEA agent, Tucker Pankov, is not having a good week. First his boss is killed and Tucker does not know who is responsible for the death. Then an assassin shows up at his house and tries to kill him. When he finds out that other members of his team were also targeted for death, Tucker knows there is a big problem and he is being targeted by someone very powerful. But he has no idea why. Things continue to go downhill when he and the members of his team find out that they have lost their top-secret security clearance. And then they find themselves on television, appearing to be placing bombs and blowing up very public places. Not knowing who is behind these actions and not knowing who they can trust, they have to proceed with caution working outside the box to find a solution. When they kidnap Karen Stafford, an NSA analyst, they feel that she is their only hope of solving this mystery and discovering who is behind the attacks. This is one of the times they had to work outside normal operating procedures.

The characters are well rounded, well developed and three dimensional. You cannot help but like Tucker and root for him. Although he is a highly trained undercover agent and more than capable of disarming someone in a blink of an eye, he also has a tender side. He lives by his own code of ethics and there are some lines he will not cross. Kidnapping Karen almost crosses that line and he is not happy that he had to resort to that action. He does everything in his power to make her feel safe and let her know they mean her no harm. And after he gets to know her better, he knows he will do everything in his power to keep her alive. Karen is one tough woman and she is not easily intimidated. But when she is kidnapped and meets Tucker, she is scared to death but refuses to let Tucker and the others know. As she gets to know him better, she sees that the only thing she has to fear from him is losing her heart to him.

This is an action packed adventure thriller that pulls the reader along at breakneck speed and never lets the reader catch their breath. Every page is full of action, tension and suspense. Starting from the first page, there is enough going on to keep the reader wanting to turn the pages to see what will happen next. I enjoyed the fact that the reader knew who the bad guys are, even though Tucker and his team had no idea. To me this added more suspense and tension and I really like that.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and I felt like I was right there watching all the action (bullets flying, explosions) happening around me. The romance between Tucker and Elizabeth was also explosive and the action and suspense were woven together perfectly.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romantic suspense with lots of action. This book can be read as a stand alone but why would you not want to read all of the books in the series?

REVIEW: 4.5 stars---EDGE OF DANGER is the fourth installment in Katie Reus’s contemporary, adult DEADLY OPS romantic suspense series. This is DEA agent Tucker Pankov, and NSA analyst Karen Stafford’s storyline. EDGE OF DANGER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from several third person perspectives EDGE OF DANGER focuses on the hunt for a home-grown terrorist cell conspiring to take down the US administration. Tucker Pankov and his team of DEA agents-Cole Erickson , Forest Kane, and Paxton Brooks had just lost their mentor and head of the DEA Max Southers to a suspected terrorist attack but the men soon found themselves the number one suspects in the murder and a series of attacks against the American people. When each member of Tucker’s team (including our hero) is targeted for death, Tucker knows that someone inside could be calling the shots. With all of their resources cut off, Tucker and his men ‘kidnap’ NSA analyst Karen Stafford in the hopes of contacting the only man Tucker and his men can trust-head of the NSA Wes Burkhart. What ensues is the search for the people responsible, and a building relationship between Karen and Tucker.

EDGE OF DANGER is an action packed, fast paced, lust to love storyline that focuses on power, greed, money and betrayal. While Tucker and his men remain hidden, Karen must play go-between in order to help ferret out the person(s) responsible for the attacks and the death of Max Southers. While in seclusion Tucker and Karen’s relationship will become personal, and in the end, could very well be used against Tucker if something were to happen to their ‘kidnapped victim.’ The $ex scenes are romantic, erotic and intense. Tucker is a man who knows how to please the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Tucker and Karen is a quick enemies to friends to lovers storyline-a storyline that takes our couple from strangers to lovers in a matter of hours to days. There is no denying their immediate attraction, chemistry and lust for one another; a profession of love comes very quickly under extreme circumstances and threats against their lives.

The secondary and supporting characters include all of Tucker’s team mates, as well as Selene Wolfe (Shattered Duty #3), Wesley Burkhart –head of the NSA; NSA agent Nathan Ortiz (whose storyline is next in A COVERT AFFAIR), and several other agents from the NSA, DEA, CIA and the local PD. The requisite evil has many faces, and a number of connections within the various agencies and the political elite.

EDGE OF DANGER is a story with suspense, mystery, action and romance. The premise is intriguing, gripping and impassioned; the characters are intense and fascinating; the romance is sensual and provocative. Katie Reus has a talent for capturing your imagination.

Katie Reus is an author I turn to when I'm not sure what to read. I usually enjoy her books, and I find then engrossing, but not really emotionally stressful. I was in the mood for a unstressful read at the end of December and so I jumped into a Katie Reus's Deadly Ops series. Edge of Danger was exactly what I was expecting: fast paced, relatively stress-less, with great characters.

Edge of Danger is the 4th book of Katie Reus's Deadly Ops series. This novel focuses on Karen Stafford, who is a brilliant NSA Analyst, and DEA Agent Tucker Pankov. When Tucker's boss at the DEA is killed, and an attempt to kill Tucker and other DEA agents occurs, Tucker and the other agents go into hiding while they try to figure out what is going. They realize they need the help of Karen, and so they kidnap her, although they do feel bad about scaring her. After they convince her to help them, they work together to figure out what's happening. And of course Tucker and Karen fall for each other, because this is a romance novel (seriously, I wouldn't have it any other way).

I loved Karen. I met her in the previous Deadly Ops books, and I liked her right away. She's very intelligent, thinks fast, and has great instincts. But Karen can also be vulnerable and frightened, and I thought that Reus showed that well in Edge of Danger.

Tucker was a great, typical Reus hero. He's strong, and super awesome at his job as an undercover DEA agent. He feels really guilty about kidnapping Karen, but he also feels like he doesn't have any choice. And of course, he isn't going to actually hurt it. Not that it's okay to kidnap someone, but I was willing to go with it.

Look, I realize that starting a romantic relationship under these circumstances is not at all realistic, but I was soo here for it. Tucker and Karen just meshed well together. I loved them together, and really just want them together forever.

As with the other Deadly Ops books I've read, there is definitely too much time spent with the bad guys, though. I don't need to see their motivation or their planning. I also didn't love the vocab lesson at the beginning of every chapter. Especially because I recently read some others from this series that had the same vocabulary.

If you like romatnic suspense, you should definitely look into Katie Reus's novels. They are fast-paced and fun, and the romances are ususally great. That said, I like her Red Stone Security series more than this series. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook

A fast-paced, high stakes, sexy thriller that will keep its readers on the edge of their seats through-out.

“Everything is falling into place perfectly. We have four dirty DEA agents working with a terrorist group and killing Americans on American soil. The headlines are going to write themselves and we're going to get our candidate into the White House. When that happens, we'll get the war we want. The war we can win.”

EDGE OF DANGER by Katie Reus is a fantastic, action-packed, high stakes romantic thriller laden with some seriously crooked political shenanigans. Four DEA ages are wrongfully accused and their boss is murdered. They need help and their options are few. So... they kidnap someone who should be able to get them in touch with their deceased boss' good friend who happens to be in charge of a super-secret government agency. What could go wrong? This is the story of DEA agent Tucker Pankov and NSA analyst Karen Stafford.

Even though this is the fourth book in the series, it can be fully enjoyed as a standalone. In fact, all the books in Katie's Deadly Ops series can be enjoyed as stand alones, if that is your preference. There are recurring characters throughout each, so the books are linked, but not to where the storylines converge. So, feel free to read them in any order you wish.

I loved both the hero and the heroine. She's brilliant; he's strong, capable and pretty smart himself; he had to be to outsmart the villains and keep both he and Karen alive. Katie's characters are always realistic, genuine, and relatable; Tucker and Karen are not exceptions. This book features an almost instant attraction, which totally worked with this story. It brought to mind Levi's and Selene's HEA, a very similar instant attraction told in SHATTERED DUTY (Book #3).

I highly recommend both this series and Katie's Red Stone Security series to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense . EDGE OF DANGER is a fast-paced, high stakes, sexy thriller that will keep its readers on the edge of their seats through-out. Be forewarned that you will not want to put it down once you start it. There's an easy fix; Just plan to read it in one sitting.

Amazing story, amazing series, amazing characters, amazing author, amazing narrator (audible review)

WOW! This series is so so so good. I love every book so far. This is the 4th book. The characters are awesome, strong, sexy, badass covert operatives. How can you not like a story with FBI, NSA, DEA espionage, assassins and romance all rolled up into a fantastic story.

I loved Tucker he was great! Sexy, smart, kind, and just badass! Karen was great too. She was also strong and smart, being and analyst for the NSA. The chemistry between these two is great. It felt real, genuine and not forced.

There is lots of dialogue throughout the entire series. These books are not full of filler nonsense at all. Just great story lines and plots with fantastic characters.

As for the narration. Well Sophie Eastlake is amazing! She does such a fantastic job it makes an already fantastic story even better! All the men sound like men, everyone gets their own distinct voice, her reading voice is a pleasure to listen to and she reads with emotion.

If you have not read this series I highly 110% recommend it. Especially the audible version! You will love this series.

REVIEW

What can I say? Another fantastic book in the Deadly Ops Series.
In this one we have Tucker who along with members of his team are being setup. Their only hope is kidnapping a very important woman with the NSA Karen. They would never hurt her but she at first doesn't know that. Once Tucker explains it all Karen knows she will do whatever it takes to help this man and his team. Burkhart is the boss of Karen and he is worried about his employ more than anything. Can Tucker and Karen get him on their side?

We have alpha men along with very strong willed women. The females in this series are every bit as strong and powerful as the men who capture their hearts. Wonderful story.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

Initial Thoughts: Though the romance moved fast, starting with insta-lust and moving swiftly to love, I did like this installment of the Deady Ops. The political suspense drama was fascinating and I enjoyed how the story played out. It was really nail-biting between figuring out what was going on, how they were going to clear their names and the action. It was difficult to put down, but I did overall enjoy the journey that brought Tucker and Karen together. The best part, I really enjoyed the epilogue; the humor, passion and sweetness of it was a delightful end. Thoughts:  I love the Deadly Ops series by Katie Reus – and this one is done so amazingly well, that you can almost see the characters being brought to live on the movie screen as you are reading along. From the kidnapping at the very beginning, to the captive falling for the kidnapper, to the unfolding of and capture of the criminals, this one is non-stop action and a roller coaster ride of events! The characters are very well-written, and it is easy to fall into the romance angle of these two. As always, Katie Reus hits a home run with this one!

When Tucker Pankov and his team are targeted by assassins and stripped of their top-secret security clearance, Tucker decides their best option is to kidnap the only woman he thinks can save them in high energy romantic suspense. Once again, Katie Reus took command of the written word and brought fourth an exhilarating romantic suspense that gets the blood pumping and the imagination going and I can’t wait to read the next one.
