Wanted Men #3

An Obsession with Vengeance

Rate this book

I'm lazy and don't feel like doing a proper review today...

description

I liked this a lot...

...But there were some things that bothered me.

1) I just don't see how Sydney could have kept Andrew a secret.

They are supposed Russian Mob badasses. And Maks a hacker to boot.

description

It just seemed unbelievable to me that he wouldn't have known or discovered she had a kid.

2) Another thing - which has bothered me since book one, actually - is some of the language used.

I just don't see macho mafioso peeps who speak fluent Russian using words like "sitch" "addy" and "deets" in actual sentences instead of "situation" "address" and "details."

description

Frat boys? Sure.

Russian mobsters? Not so much.

***5 Russia-Australia stars from me***

What can i say about "Made men"???

I just love those guys, even though the second characters...
Even though i have a small preference to Vincente, the "Reaper", i love them all...

And i really loved that i found out more about Maksim...

I liked this guy, he was full of life. He was enjoying every single moment of his life, even though he was the one of all the "gang" with the rougher past...

Everyone was forced to carry their own burden from their pasts, but his cross was the heavier to carry in my opinion. But he never aloud to anything bad to waved him down and that was one of the things that i appreciate too much in him...

But that wasn't the only one i liked about him...
This big guy was also loyal and stubborn and insisted... I really loved him...

The only two things that i missed in this book was that in the previous books Maks was more funny and i enjoyed very much this part of his charming attitude, but i'm not complaining, i liked and this dominating side of him and the second thing was that in the previous stories we were having more action from all the others guys, and here i missed them...

DONE already!!! Hahahaha
But enough with that...

Well, Maksim had seen Sydney for the first time in the previous book when Vincente was trying to found something important for Nika that took place in Sydney's club. But from the very first moment, this woman made a big impression to him and he decided that he wanted have fun with her (i mean sex!!!)... but Sydney keep him in a distance and he wasn't aloud him to come further... and that action made Maksim more determined to wreck her walls and get in... her(everywhere!!!)

Sydney was charmed by the big Russian guy, but she couldn't aloud to herself to get involved with him as much as she liked him. And why??? First of all, he was a member of Russian mafia. Secondly, he was a man whore, and she couldn't aloud to herself to become one of his whores and third, she had a son, so that fact forced her to be more responsible of her actions and the after consequences of them...
But as much as she was trying to stay away from him, he doesn't give up on her.

He was determined to make her his at least for one night...
But Maksim is not Sydney's only problem...

After an incident a year before, she involved herself in a shitty situation with some drug dealers and now she want to clean up from them, but they don't aloud it to her. So, her only choice is to turned for help to Maksim.

Maksim accept to help her even though he takes a vow to his leader that he will stay away from her until they get clear all this messed-up situation... But as a part of this job is Sydney and Maksim to persuade the bad guys that they are involved together...

Will they manage to archieve that goal???
Will they suppress their rising feelings toward each other???
Will they found the solution in Sydney's problem or they will make the things worse???
Will they put their fears aside and overwelcome the sweet ache of those feelings that for first time are feeling???

Well, i already told ya some things about Maksim...

He was beautiful, as all those guys, tall, well-dressed, full with tattoos and very clever.
He was stubborn and determined and he never gave up on nobody.
He was loyal and he honored his "family"...
The rest of the guys, Vasily and Micha was the only significant persons in his life and he will do anything for their safety and well-being. And of course, he was lethal. Extremely lethal...

His past was very shitty and i have to reffer in his asshole father.
Thank God that Vasily save him for this hell that his own father put him through.
No kid have to leave those ugly situations...

As for Sydney???

I liked her very much. She was steady and determined also.
She left her house when she was seventeen for a certain cause and she fought very hard about that choice.
Her kid is the most important person in her life and she can do anything for his safety.

I liked her spirit and i liked the way that she was handling Maksim, especially in the beginning...

Together they were a very odd but beautiful pair....
None of them wanted to give the control of themselves to the other and that effort was very interesting to watch...

I really love "Made men" series and it's killing me that i'll have to wait who knows how many time for the next story... It will be Alek's turn, right???

And is it possible to have a story about Tegan and Lorenzo??? It will be so fuckin' interesting!!!

The truth is that i could read for every one of them a story every single day.
I would never get bored...
And now, i feel lonely and i have to say that i want some more....

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....

38% and I give up! I cannot do it anymore. This book pretty much sucks and has so many unbelievable situations I cannot take it! Plus - thanks to one honest reviewer - I have an OW scene coming at 70%!!! (all but sex) NFW! I have much better things to read. The phone book, blacks law dictionary, the IRS code...anything but OW at 70%!

4 'Maksim-loving' stars

I wish this 369 pages book is LONGER! I need more Maksim and Sydney. I'm a little miff with other supporting characters stealing their page time. Staring at Lore.

Before I start, let me just confess that I actually read 25% of A Love of Vengeance before I put it on hold and never went back to it. So I'm now reading An Obsession with Vengeance purely as a standalone. The previous characters are featured prominently especially Vasily, their head honcho. Although I'm a little confused with their connection with each other, it didn't bother me much and slowly I get the gist of everything that happened previously.

Sydney is a single mum and the new club owner, originated from Australia. I bet she named herself after her hometown. When Sydney had angered a Mexican mobster and had no freaking clue how to get herself out from the mess, she decided to call upon the sexy and dangerous Russian that had been 'befriending' her currently. For all she knew, Maksim just wanted to sleep with her and be done with it.

Maksim Kirov is part of the Tarasov crime family, I don't think he had a specific position, but definitely in the higher up and has pseudo father-and-son relationship with the big boss. He was painted as someone ruthless and total manwhore. But honestly, I felt like in this entire book he was living like a monk until Sydney finally gave in to him. A little applause there for his good behavior, although there is a little moment of stupidity when he was getting confused with his feelings for her.

I love Maksim, especially after learning about his childhood. Poof! Goner. He might had a history of being a manwhore, but once he starts targeting Sydney, she is all he wants. The way he forced himself into her life is kinda cute too. A big bad Russian trying so hard to win his woman. Although there are many times he keep telling himself, 'don't feel more for her', 'don't care too much for her'. But no matter how much he tried to psycho himself, he is a goner when it comes to that woman. After finding out that she is in danger from the Mexican, we see Maksim in all his alpha-protective-glory.

Sydney was a pretty kickass heroine as well. She is a mother and a provider for her son and she is doing her best to keep him safe, including trying not to get involve with Maksim. She is attracted to him, but she is making the right choice by not jumping head over heel over it. I find that she is a pretty sensible woman even with her fiasco with the Mexican.

Overall, An Obsession with Vengeance is a kickass mafia story. We have a protective anti-hero with a tortured past, a likable heroine, just the right amount of sex scenes, great cast of supporting characters and thrown in some action and suspense, it was one hell of a ride.

On a side note, I wish Papa Vasily is going to get his own HEA. This guy desperately needs one.

Nancy Haviland is fast becoming an auto-read author. This series is captivating. Heroes from all races and nationalities. The ultimate badasses...bad boys with good hearts who are brutal when they need to be and tender when they want to be.

Maksim is a definite playboy...more cocky than I usually like in a hero, but he's so playful about it that it's endearing. He's set his sights on Sydney from the get-go, even if he won't admit it to himself. And the sexy, aloof Sydney inadvertently makes him want her more by giving him the cold shoulder.

Sydney is a mother, and her character is made so much stronger for it. Her every move is made in deference to her status. She may not always make 100% right choices, but she's the epitome of mama bear. Her loneliness broke my heart, her love for her son won me over.

I wish there had been some sort of resolution when it came to Sydney's past, but I guess it's not meant to be. I got enough resolution from the romance anyways. Maksim and Sydney have undeniably combustive chemistry, and I loved how Haviland lets that play out for such a long time. It's the ideal set up for this reader. I loved this book. I'm dying for more. So many guys to choose from. I really can't decide who I want next, so it doesn't really matter. I'm obsessed with Quan, and apparently he's getting a novella so there's that. Bring it, Nancy Haviland. Gimme, gimme, gimme!!!

5 Tortured Hero Stars!

I am completely hooked on this series and these characters!! I've been anxiously awaiting Maks' story, and I totally loved it!!

Maks is a highly respected leader in the Tarasove Crime Syndicate. He's also brooding, sensual, and beautiful. I completely loved Maks and his back story, all that he endured as a boy at the hands of his abusive father broke my heart and it hurt for him. Where women, those he considers family, and children are concerned, he is truly a gentleman. But, he's also brutal, as in BRUTAL when he needs to be. The poor guy still feels guilty for his part in a women he's grown to care a great deal about getting hurt due to his actions in The Salvation of Vengeance. I loved that he felt deeply about what happened, it showed he has a conscience, real emotions and feelings.

Maks and Sydney met in The Salvation of Vengeance and he was instantly drawn to the beautiful, classy, yet aloof club owner. He has been ruthlessly pursuing her every chance he gets, even as she seems to have zero interest. Nevertheless, Maks takes every opportunity to engage in verbal sparring matches. Sydney IS attracted to Maks, but she has other priorities, mainly her twelve year old son Andrew that Maks doesn't know about....not to mention she's weary of his well deserved “manwhore” reputation.

 photo PicsArt_1435384381253_zpsphqnmewj.jpg

When a secret Sydney has been keeping blows up in her face and brings danger to her and her beloved son Andrew, she has no choice but to seek protection from Maks. With the backing of his organization and his mentor Russian Crime Boss, Vasily, Maks and Sydney create charade to keep her safe. While the charade brings Sydney and Maks closer, and seems to be working as it should, another enemy, a much deadlier unknown enemy, is stalking Sydney. Lots of action!

Maks and Sydney were great together, and she and Andrew were just what he needed, but never realized he did. Maks is just so sexy, the perfect tortured hero, and Sydney is a woman strong enough to stand beside him. I absolutely loved this story, and can't wait for more Wanted Men!!!!

This one definitely surprised me because I didn't expect to like it so much but it is now my favourite in the series so far. From what we saw of Maks in the previous books I was so/so about him. He seemed pretty funny, but he was just such a man whore that I wasn't sure if I'd be able to actually like him. But there was pretty much none of that in this book, unless you count all the dirty dirty things he says and does to Sydney ;)
It was interesting getting to know him, he feels much deeper then you would ever expect and is a true survivor. Brave and loyal to the core. I really loved him. I liked Sydney a lot too, she was funny and quick. She never let Maks get the best of her. We also get lots of scenes with the previous couples and characters and we get to see how they are doing. I have to say the end though! Way to leave me hanging there, now I can't wait for Aleks book. I highly recommend this series for anyone looking for a good Mafia/Russian read.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I ended up enjoying this one. I don't like pushing away and I don't like commitment phobe heroes. Maxim was both but there was just something about him that I really liked. The heroine didn't fall all over herself with Maxim and that was another thing I liked about these two. For mafia books, these heroes treat their women very well, but the enemies not so much. Because of the villains in the story, there is violence and sexual assault.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Sydney has gotten herself into a dangerous situation and it is starting to look like she is in way over her head. When the cartel leader she is doing business with realizes she may not be adhering fully to their agreement, he pays her a little visit. Fearing for her and her son's safety, Sydney makes a call to the one man who can save her. Every time Maksim is in a room with Sydney he can't wait to get his hands on her but so far, she has kept her walls firmly up. When he receives a call asking for his help, he doesn't hesitate but he does prepare himself to keep business strictly separated from pleasure. The possibility of the Russian mafia and Mexican cartel going to war is almost as dangerous as Sydney and Maksim's feelings for one another.

You know how people say they "Dropped the mic"? That sentiment and action is how I visualize the author dropping off this manuscript on her editor's desk; this book is on point. From the characters, to their relationships, and to the world building (oh my readers, the world building!), I was engrossed into this story. This is the way books in a series should be interconnected, shaping and adding to the overall world but still focused on the couple that is supposed to be the star of the particular book. No info dumping but rather branches flowing out of the trunk that take the reader here and there, sometimes wrapping up a thread and sometimes leaving you lingering on where the story or characters are going to go. The Wanted Men universe felt real to me, this is no quick story but an experience.

This is the third in the series and if you want the full overall story arc and not feel left out at times, you'll want to read the previous two books (A Love of Vengeance & The Salvation of Vengeance) but if you just want to read Maksim and Sydney's story, you could comfortably start here. I was a fan of her first book and thought she tapered off in the second but am now recommending reading this whole series if only for the emotions that will hit you when you read how Vincente has to leave the room when Sydney's son hugs his "sister".

After getting a glimpse of Sydney in the previous book, I wasn't sure I was going to like her but she quickly developed into a woman I found myself cheering for. She first met Maksim when the club she owns had video footage his organization needed in book two of the series. They had an instant attraction but because she had been on her own so much, due to getting pregnant at age 17 and being abandoned by her parents and the baby's father, she has major trust and control issues. I would have liked a little more expansion on her struggle and past, especially on who her parents were since it was alluded to that they were very rich and powerful but this is a small complaint. Maksim was a character that made a big impact on me from the previous two books; the author delivered and gave me everything I wanted and more for his character. He had the darkness that comes with growing up in an extremely harsh environment but also the vulnerability of trust issues. Along with the trust issues, he also matched Sydney with the need for control. These matching issues provided some fantastic push, pull, and eventual giving in moments. Maksim and Sydney's playfulness had a great sexual vibe that managed to be both light and dark at turns and also sexy.

It isn't until later in the story we get a bedroom payoff but that felt right for this couple. Their situation is dangerous and while they are both sexually attracted to one another, they are emotionally leery. As they spend more time together and get to know one another, their attraction expands beyond the physical. We then see Maksim slowly overcome his trust issues while Sydney loosens the grip on her need for control; this couple really does come together beautifully. I was chomping at the bit for them to get their bedroom scene and wished it had happened a little earlier as I thought the middle slowed slightly with a few sexually charged starts and stops and I definitely thought it took way too long for Sydney to tell Maksim about her child. Maksim is in Sydney's life because he is pretending she is his girlfriend/lover in order to give her the protection of his name/brotherhood so the cartel can't touch her, it was a little maddening how she kept quiet about her son, essentially not providing him with that same protection.

Even with those small complaints, I greatly enjoyed this book. The beginning with the build up and establishment of the story created a solid foundation for a truly absorbing story. I loved the deeper look into Vasily, the Pakhan or leader of Maksim's Russian mafia group, and all the other side characters. Past couples and future heroes are not merely trotted out for future book bait but are truly part of the story and world the author has created. The epilogue has me really looking forward to Alek's book and I'm really dying to read Micha's..no wait…Dmitri's…umm, wait…Lorenzo/Tegan's…yeah, let's just say I want to read about them all. This author has really hit her stride with An Obsession With Vengeance and with the world and characters she has created, I'm excited to see what she comes up with next.

I loved the other books. This one, seriously, it's like it wasn't even written by the same author. I can usually find SOMETHING about a book I like. This one didn't have one thing.
There were tons of inner dialogue. Not very much action. Just the H and h standing around talking about how much they wanted each other, but shouldn't.
The h is in trouble with a drug dealer. Her reasoning for getting involved with him was so ridiculous. Not why, but how did she think that was a good thing. She has a child but willingly did illegal things, with bad people. By choice!!! Not because she had to. STUPID!!!
Her not telling the good guys she had a child was even more stupid. The bad guys knew. Why would you not tell the good guys? She acted like she was ashamed of him. She even says, will he think I was a slutty teenage. Plus the boy is 12 years old and the author gave him a potty mouth!!! Smh--
Speaking of slutty, that's what our hero was. He screwed just about anything that was breathing. He owns a night club and of course all the women wanted to sleep with him. He even has almost sex (everything but penetration) in the club in front of everyone (the heroine has witnessed it too). Before the book starts, but still it's talked about. He thinks about his sexual encounters a lot. We even get some details about it, who, where, & how it was. The way he talks about screwing them is no different then the way he wants to screw the heroine. So yea, their "intimacy" is nothing special. They don't have sex until about 73% in. The heroine goes to the night club to see the hero and sees the hero walk up to one of his dancers. He's rubbing his hands all over her butt, then pulls her in the office to screw her, heroine gets upset, goes home, hero doesn't see her, he goes home. The H comes in, heroine comes running out, H says you're screwing up my mind so you just need to screw me because it's your fault. She tells him I know you just screwed another women and he basically says no, I tried to. I kissed her, she played with "it" but I couldn't get hard. It's your fault so now you have to screw me. So the heroine, who knows he still has another women's finger prints on his "man part" asked him a couple of questions then accept it as oh he must really want me. Really?!?! This book does not have any of the romance, sweetness, action, or mystery of the other books. Not one time did I think this guy is a great hero.
At one time he tells her about his past. Afterward he says, "If you tell anyone I will make you sorry. He constantly says mean and hateful things to her. Even when they are not fussing. Which is 90% of the book. Again, really?!?!
So basically, to me this was a very boring book. Too much inner dialogue. No action. With a immature hero who seemed like a immature man whore. He was not sexy. He was not manly. He was not mysterious. The heroine came off as stupid and boring. I can not remember the last time I've been this disgusted over a book.

This was an okay read overall but I had some issues with the story.

- The hero is in the Russian mafia and supposedly great at finding information about people - yet he somehow can't find anything out about the heroine and doesn't realize she has a child. Meanwhile they are supposedly watching her and keeping her safe - yet somehow never notice a 12 year old boy coming in and out of her place. Huge plot hole.

- The story makes such a big deal about how dominant the hero is and how he is kinky and all this crap, then when we finally have a sex scene after waiting most of the book, I just thought "is that it?". Don't build up a supposedly sexy dominant hero then not give me some good payoff. The sex scenes were not great and certainly not very D/s at all beyond him telling to pose in different ways.

- It was hard to believe in the sudden "love" between these two. She pushes him away for most of the book because he is a man whore and he spends most of the book thinking how he wants to screw her so he can forget her like the rest. How romantic. He even tries to have sex with another woman at around the 70% mark and she forgives him right away (they had not had sex yet at that point because it took forever for that to finally happen).

The series is pretty good overall but this story disappointed me because I was looking forward to a sexy dominant hero and some electric chemistry and instead I got a frustrating story of why they stayed apart then I didn't find the love scenes or relationship to be satisfying when they finally occurred.

4 "Russia" stars

I effin loved Maksim Kirov/"Russia", the elusive badass giant Russian mobster who wanted, pursued and gained the woman of his interest.
FUCK YEAH he did!!!

and she was his blonde, cold sharp diamond that he shaped and molded under his large hands and body - Sidney Martin/"Australia", a woman who had the balls to fight for herself and for the life of her unborn child when she was just a teen...went into the new country to get a new life for herself and her kid...she cought the eye of the sexy mobster the man she had to fear if she was smart...BUT she needed his help so her evasivness had to be replaced by the "open arms" deal - she would eventually give in too him, physicaly, mentaly, emotionaly as he would too even if he hides behind his harden posture and dwelling with his past demons and scars...

and of course, the sex, hey I would never go further without mentioning it...so yeah, baby, I am sayin it...

the drama is vast, the stakes are high and emotions roll deep...

so why 4 stars?
because of the only part I resented in this book and that is bringing in the characters that were scrolling through out book 1 and book 2 as well as in here but I felt like they were here just to fill out the pages, I made no connection with them and otherwise I could have gone just as well without them...

oh, and fun fact, did you know that there is an actual real Maksim Kirov?! hahaha

here are the facts: "Maksim Mikhaylovich Kirov is a Russian football defender who last played for FC Vologda. He made his debut in the Russian Second Division for FC Vologda on July 23, 2012 in a game against FC Sever Murmansk."

3.75 RATING- Jumping into a series without reading the previous books isn't my style- I like to read books with shared characters in order. A couple reviews of book one put me off a bit on the story line though so I never read it. When I read the blurb for this book, I couldn't resist checking it out.

One thing I can say for sure after reading my first book by Nancy Haviland is that I really like her writing style. The back and forth between the characters was flawless and I really enjoyed their chemistry. The sexy bits were well written as well, I just wish there had been more of them, perhaps earlier in the book. This was definitely what I consider a slow burn type of romance.

Having a hero that's torn between his feelings for the heroines and anything else isn't usually my favorite kind of story. I think that's why this one rated a little lower for me than I feel like the writing deserves. Other than that, this was a great read. I'm excited to find this series and plan at some point to go back and read the first two books. I'm actually most excited about the next book which is set up nicely towards the end of this one. Sounds like we are going to have a crazy obsessed hero. My freakin favorite!

Loved it

Wow my head is still spinning from all the action emotion and complications. I am exhausted. I had to read till I was finished.

Maks what a complicated guy that went through so so much. Never to be loved always waiting for the good to end. He pissed me off a couple of times but you just had to love him.

Sydney was incredible. So strong such a mama bear. She was much to be admired. I loved her all the way through.

Of course the supporting cast was there and the side characters were always interesting and needing their own story.

On to the next!

An Obsession with Vengeance is book 3 in the Wanted Men series, and its Maksim and Sydney's story. Sydney's stupidity in the beginning of the book was so annoying I didn't want to continue but I did like Maksim from the previous two books so I decided to try and look past it. I'm glad I did because I actually enjoyed Sydney's character after the first 30%. Maksim's past was heartbreaking and explained a lot about him and I loved his almost animalistic ways. While I did enjoy this book and the other two in this series I still cannot give it more than 3 stars because I still feel the romance in these stories really lack. The connection between the guys is awesome and my favorite, I just wish I felt the same with the romance. I loved the tease at the end and I'm really looking forward to Alex's book.

So, Maksim is one of those Wanted Men He wears good suits, has tattoos, a sexy Russian accent, he leans towards dominant tendencies in the bedroom and can hack like a geeky-boss.

Okay. Sign me up!
Thank you, baby Jesus, this book in the series was so far more superior than the last one ( I'm still bitter over Vincente not being the badass superhunk I was promised! )

Maksim and Sydney were great together, I loved their whole damsel in distress situation and the hot Russian riding to her rescue. They had some wicked funny banter between them, hot flirtations.

Overall the best book in the series so far, we see the rest of the gang and how they've progressed so far, and it sets up the next book nicely. I was ready to be done with it, now I will move on to book 4.

Maksim Kirov has never wanted a woman as much as he wants Australian Sydney Martin. Sydney is the owner of a club and completely elusive. Maksim has come to enjoy their cat and mouse game but still has not been able to get Sydney to budge let alone get in bed.

Sydney knows all about Maksim's reputation, he sleeps with every women he looks at and has no plans in committing to anyone. Sydney has a secret though which is the main reason she has turned him down every time. When a rash decision Sydney made comes back to haunt her, she enlists Maksim's help. Maksim will protect Sydney and as he does they grow close but Maksim is not sure he can give Sydney the type of life she deserves.

I'm actually a fan of the bad boys that are really bad boys so this one was a pleasant read for me. I've read one of the first two books and I was not disappointed. I am VERY interested in reading more. Mak and Sydney have awesome chemistry and the build up is really hot. Mak's confidence is sexy and he really comes alive in the pages of the story. Sydney is not left behind in the development either. The action is interesting and the plot creative. Definitely one of those you don't want to start too late into the evening because you will not be able to put it down.

Urg, this series was going so well. The first two books had zero OW drama and were fabulous. Then this book had to ruin it by having the H take an OW into his office to fuck her to get rid of his attraction to the heroine. He stopped it after kissing her but really? The author had to go there? I don't get it. I still want to read the rest of the series, I'm hoping that this type of thing won't happen again

Oh Maks, **wags finger at him** I just knew you would be a kinky, egotistical man that I would love!

The boys are back…oh,how I have missed them! An Obsession with Vengeance is the third installment into the Marked Men series and just like the other two installment’s I LOVED it! Ms. Haviland now has a stalker…I mean a fan (wink, wink) for life and I can’t wait to get more of these hot-ass, dominate men’s stories, especially Vastly’s (I’m begging here, Nancy).

Maks has his playboy sights set out on the Aussie club owner. Not used to being denied he’s determined to keep pushing her resistance but Maks’ plans get kinked when he ends up having to protect his Aussie. He makes a promise to his boss that he will not touch Sydney until the job is done but playing her boyfriend has Maks on edge trying to contain his self control.

The angst was off the hook between these two. Between the sexual chemistry, the secret that Sydney keeps hidden and Maks inner turmoil it’s one of those books you want to savior but end up plunging into. All of our favorite character’s make appearances and we get set-up for the next installment that will be Alek’s.

This can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend you start at the beginning to get the full story and to meet all these awesome characters!

Okay…the back story to this book was FAAAAAARRRRR fetched…but I will let that one go. Maksim is totally smexy, dominant and worth the walk across the street ( and then some!). This book is exactly what you expect: steamy, mafia, makes things right book…with the HEA.

Sydney is great in my mind…with the exception of that main issue that brings her to Mak’s door. That stupid decision aside, she feels the pull Mak’s has on her and she wants it too. There is no hiding her feelings or her desires…thank you for that! These two grow closer and Mak’s, along with the Tarasov family, clean up Sydney’s mess, fix up her business and save the day…like I said, HEA is awesome.

Looking for fast, fierce and sexy…this is a great summer beach read! Enjoy.

Speaking of obsessions, I am completely and utterly obsessed with these books. Seriously, I just about can't function because I don't want to put the books down to sleep or drive or even eat. There really are no good stopping points. Every word is interesting. I have been dying to reads Maks's story, and it totally exceeded my expectations! Getting an early copy of this book from Net Galley made me so happy.

As usual, Maks is darkly broodingly beautiful. He still grieves over his part in events from book two, and his terrifyingly violent and abusive childhood is mixing into his nightmares and keeping him up nights. Maks met Sydney in book two and was instantly drawn to her. He has been pursuing her with no returned interest from her. Maks uses his irreverent sense of humor and his innate sexuality to continually engage in verbal sparring matches with her. Sydney, on the other hand, is attracted to Maks (Who wouldn't be?) but has other priorities...mainly her twelve year old son Maks doesn't know about.

When a secret Sydney has been keeping blows up in her face and brings danger to her house, she has no recourse but to turn to Maks for protection. With the backing of his organization and mentor, Maks leads Sydney into a charade meant to throw her enemy off track. While the charade brings Sydney and Maks closer and successfully repels the enemy, another darker enemy is stalking Sydney, and nothing will deter him.

Maks and Sydney were great together. She and Andrew were everything he ever needed but didn't realize. Maks was just so sexy. The way he called Sydney "lover" was too hot for words. He was the perfect tortured hero, and Sydney was the one woman strong enough to stand beside him. I absolutely loved this story. It was the best one yet.

Excellent Story-Excellent Narration! (Audible Whispersync Review)
Wow the is my favorite of the series so far! Loved this story. Awesome characters and character development.

The hero Maksim is full of sexy charisma. Loved him and his back story was disturbing but intriguing. The heroine Sydney was smart, witty, beautiful and full of spunk. Loved her too. And she didn't have any TSTL moments! It was great! Chemistry and witty banter between the two was great, and totally genuine. There are a couple of really great hot and steamy sex scenes. And the best bonus is this book is NOT full of angst at all!

The story line and plot were fantastic. So engaging, never a dull moment. The story line flowed very nicely and was believable. No filler nonsense at all is such a treat. There is a lot of great dialogue throughout the entire book.

I highly recommend this entire series! Excellent read/listen for sure!

I enjoyed it I did!
But they did the whole kidnapping plot AGAIN that I just can't seem to love it.
First book : Eva gets taken
Second book : Caleb gets taken
This book : Andrew gets taken
Next book : NO ONE BETTER GET FREAKING KIDNAPPED OR I'M SO OUT!

Okay I won't be out, but I'll be very very disappointed. There's only so many times I can forgive before I leave forever.

Maksim the playboy gets tamed by the sassy strong willed Sydney.
Another thing that got me, was how the hell was Sydney able to hide her son when she was practically watched 24/7 and she had walked her son to the bus one time and no guard saw it??? I find that extremely hard to believe.
AND I wanted answers to Maksim's past, like why his father sold him (the damn bastard) and where the woman he married and Maksim's half brother/sister are since the woman was pregnant?!! Loose ends I need tied up.

Alek next!!! Please don't disappoint!

You're Bratava, and don't know the woman you've been persuing has a kid?
You supposedly gave businesses in the neighborhood protection, yet you're allowing other people to sell in one of those businesses.
A psycho drug addict says "oh hey I'm going to Mexico so let your guards down" and listen. Right!!! Because let's all take his word for that.
You are a world class Interent hacker and missed all these connections.

Those things just didn't make sense to me. And it irritated me.
Apart from that I did like the book. But there was so much internal dialogue it got in the way.
We also got Lorenzo POV and that just seemed extra to me. Dedicate a book to your characters without throwing in secondary characters POV's.

Best one so far

I enjoyed this novel the best of the 3 published so far. I do wish Maksim had been a little more kinky, but hey it was still a very thrilling read. Was hard to put down and caused me to be late to work. Hehe.
