Emily (Book 1)

I thought I was in love, I thought I was happy, I thought everything was perfect.

But then I found out my husband of six years was having an affair. I knew it had to be a dream, but it wasn’t. So now I’m left at square one, only now I’m a single mom also.

Dating isn’t easy but it’s especially not easy for a single mom of twin boys, with a soon to be ex-husband who’s still around. I mean what else could happen?

Throw in a hot prison guard and my ex-husband the mechanic and you have a whole mess of problems, and its only Monday!

What am I supposed to do?

Unexpected (Book 2)

In Emily you got part of my story. But now in Unexpected you get the rest of it.

True, it doesn't go the way I planned and I don't end up with the man I had planned on. But then again, that's why they say to 'expect the unexpected.'

I have a choice to make...

Do I choose my past? Or do I choose a path that is uncertain?

Only time can tell in the end. I have to choose before feelings are hurt and it's too late, causing me to loose everything I hold dear.

Sincerely,
Emily

Oh boy, I most definitely have a love/hate relationship with this two book series. On the one hand, I am completely impressed with Jasmine Lee’s ability to create drama, angst and raw emotions in her characters that feel like a tidal wave of immaturity, instant gratification and total confusion of the heart. Yes, she had me in awe and I DID need to read every word.

That said, SKIPPING STONES SERIES was a total gut-clenching, cramp-inducing read for me, because, the MOST IMPORTANT characters, THE CHILDREN, were tossed in as background noise. All of the drama going on, the revolving door of men, the fact that someone always seemed to have the children, be it family or not, just does not sit well, or at all with me. I couldn’t buy that these kids heard nothing, saw nothing, etc. Pretty sure I feel like neither Emily nor Conner had ANY business doing the deed as they were too self-absorbed to care for their children as adults, together or apart.

So, how do I rate this? Jasmine Lee took me to the mats, I was invested, perhaps not in the way she intended, but she had me from start to a finish that had me shaking my head. THAT is great writing, so my rating is based on the story, not the author, and yes, I know, the author wrote the story. See what I mean? Total confusion…lack of respect for the characters, their bed-hopping, their inability to be adults, making me crazy...

This is not a well written book. The storyline keeps changing mid conversation. The drama feels forced. The characters are dislikable. It's very immature.

I do not recommend this book at all.

I've never experienced anything quite like this ludicrous, head spinning parody representative of a SNL inspired skit of the genre.Comical contradictions abound , an insane confluence of events occurring at supersonic speed with near constant flip flopping of sexual interludes and psuedo relationships with friends morphing to villains and everyone changing roles, attitudes or exchanging hats! Speaking of hats, rather eagerly hung up mine upon completion of first book.....

Review:

This is a two book set of the Skipping Stones Series. Both books are well written, with an interesting story of a woman who has the knack of attracting men from the same family. Some of them having problems of keeping their equipment where it belongs. I enjoyed this series, but I must be honest I did not know that I was reading a two book set. I thought that it was one long book that repeated some parts. It wasn’t until I started typing this review that I realized I read two different books.
The first book is where we learn about Emily. She married Conner at a young age and they had twin boys together. After six years of marriage, things seemed strained. The only conversations seem to revolve around the kids. It isn’t until she finds her husband with another woman that Emily realizes why Conner has been so distant. After her discovery, Emily tosses Conner out and goes on her own downward spiral of bad choices. Mostly evolving her ex Conner and his cousin Travis.

Book two has us picking up where book one left off, but now toss another cousin into the mix. We have the makings of a disaster of epic proportions, or happy ever after that could only happen in the pages of fiction.

The plots of these stories are interesting and well thought out. I enjoyed these books that had everything I look for in a story. Drama, romance, sex, hot guys, and some humor.
There is so much chemistry in this story, that I am surprised the my kindle fire didn’t ignite. The pacing was good. Since I didn’t realize that I was reading two separate books, I will not let the repetition of events influence me. If I had read the second book weeks after the first, I would have welcomed the reminders of what happened in book one.
Loved the ending. Although I did want to shake Emily a time or two.
Wow talk about character development. All of the characters in these books were developed to the point that you feel that you have known them for ages.

My Review - BOOK 1 - EMILY

I really loved this book... although it had cheating in it... which I normally HATE in book's I read... I still found I really enjoyed it

Emily finds out that her husband is cheating on her (PRICK)...

she knew he marriage was in a bit of a rut.. but she never thought he would actually cheat on her...

Now she is left hurt and betrayed ... she feels alone and also has twin boys to think of ...

Then she meets Travis... her husbands cousin...

Emily goes through so much in this book I really felt for her .. even though at times I wanted give her a shake and ask her WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING GIRL !!

This book has a lot of twist n turns that keep you guessing , which keeps you wanting to turn the page to se where the story will lead....

The story really grips you and its even a little emotional...

I cant wait to start book 2 (Unexpected) to see how this huge mess all ends ... and if Emily gets her Happy Ever After and also who she will get it with.....

Overall a really enjoyable book

My Review - BOOK 2

This is book two in the Stepping Stones series by the amazing Jasmine Lee

The books must be read in order and can not be read as standalone ...

Unexpected is a great second / Ending book to its prequel Emily...

Emily is still as always .. a HUGE emotional mess of mixed feelings

You just want to give her a shake and tell her to either choose one man or the other .. or just move on from both and focus on yourself and your boys..... GRRRR

She makes me so mad at times ... but I did still love her as a person, despite her inability to make a solid decision about her love life...

I mean come on I think most girls have been confused about a boy at one point in their lives.... it makes her feel more human and real...

Unexpected has more bumps in the road for Emily and it shows that not everything goes as planned or to your liking .... but Emily must overcome all the crap if she wants her chance at finding her Happy Ever After...

We are taken on one hell of a journey in Unexpected ... its Emily's journey to finding forever...

I am so happy with the way the book ended (NO SPOLIER) you will have to read to see ...

and that Emily got her PERFECT ending ..... but gosh what a ride it was to get there

But it was soooo worth it in the end.....

5* READ

Congrats Jasmine on this AMAZING series .... I cant recommend it enough

its a MUST READ .

I loved both these books. The first one is crazy and chaotic. Emily is all over the place after learning that her husband has been cheating on her. She decides the takes their twin sons and leave. She tries a one night stand and to fling with her boss but neither turn out well. Then there is her ex Connor. He wants her and to be with this other woman at the same time which isn’t going to happen. Emily then starts something with Connor’s cousin Travis, which leads to a whole other dilemma. Emily just can’t seem to catch a break. No matter what she does she feels torn in so many different directions. Connor doesn’t exactly leave her alone so she can grieve their relationship and move on either. Then in the second book Emily is faced with more of Connor trying win her back. Every time Emily tries bringing up anything about their relationship being over Connor changes the subject or tries to have sex with her. At times I felt that Emily needed to be stronger with Connor. In the second book we read more about James Travis’s brother. James has always wanted to be with Emily however when he first saw her before she meet Connor he learned she was only 17 and with him being 21 he left her alone and didn’t ask her out. Now he sees an opportunity with Emily. He was her friend when she needed it now he is going to show her they could be so much more. They have their own set of obstacles of course. These books were great reads. There are very emotional and chaotic. Emily is put through the proverbial ringer through these books. She manages to find herself and find a happily ever as well. The male characters are kind of all over the place. She falls in love with each of them at one point during the books. Each one brings something different and one of them isn’t truly in love with her. He is just with her because he can be. Emily is kind of a mess herself and not only because of what is going on around her. She must find her back bone and a way to clearly express what she wants. She has to stop letting the wants of others influence how she acts and what she does. Overall these books are great and I highly recommend them. These are the first book I have read by Jasmine Lee. I look forward to reading more books by her in the future.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Holy Intense Emotional Journey Batman! Emily has been married to what she thought was the perfect man, when she found out he was cheating. She leaves, and starts again at square one as a single mom. The problem is that nothing is really going right. Her new interests all seem to be on the same douche train as her ex husband, and things just keep getting worse. With all the betrayal surrounding her, will she ever have a happily ever after? Unexpected starts up where Emily leaves off, with her trying to work things out with her ex-husband, only she really doesn't trust him. His cousin James is her best friend, but he seems to have hidden feelings for her. But Emily decides to concentrate on herself for once to become whole. Will she finally trust enough to choose a path that is uncertain, and yet the best thing to happen to her?

WOW WOW WOW! What a journey, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED every minute of it. Did I get mad? Hell yeah I did, as I wanted to throat punch a few people in Emily's life very badly, including James. The character development is great, with a fast paced, yet emotional, and well written story line that flowed smoothly. Jasmine Lee does a fantastic job writing a character that's realistic, and I was completely in tune with all Emily's feelings and chaos like they were mine. Emily makes many mistakes, but they are mistakes that I can totally relate to after coming out of a marriage where the husband cheated. My heart ached for her, and yet I cheered her on to find her HEA. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, the author hit me with a twist from left field, and this kept my heart racing cover to cover. I'm very grateful that I had both books, as I'm pretty sure Jasmine Lee would have had a message from me calling her names if I had to wait for Book 2. In conclusion, she went outside the box with her flawed character making this series original which I really loved, and so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I want to give this the whole 4 stars but I don't think I can, So I'd say it was a 3.5. I honestly see why the author puts a disclaimer in the front of the book. You truly either love or hate Emily. I can't say what side I'm on cause I felt a little bit of both sides for her. There was times i was on her side cause let's face it, cheating hurts the entire family. You have a huge amount of emotions and feel like the you didn't do everything you could have. I feel for her, I truly do but I didn't entirely like how she kept it all in the family. I mean there wasn't any other guys she could have dated. I know she had Lance. Anyway, She honestly frustrated me at times, she just kept going back and forth. I felt so bad for her boys cause god only knows what they thought. It's always hard on the boys. These two books were frustrating at times and so were a some of the characters. Emily does redeem herself in the second book and finally figures out who she is and what she wants. I was glad to see that. There's some drama as you can imagine with dealing with families, some crazy ex girlfriends and even some pregnancies tossed in as well.

book one: I loved this book so much. It was a busy book but very well done and smooth flowing. The characters were so well done as well as the story. I have to admit this book took me on a wild roller coaster ride of emotions. I yelled, laughed, yelled some more and felt happiness and contentment.

Emily, a single mother, thought her life was perfect and then bam the truth surfaces. Her man cheated and had been for awhile now. Oh wow I so felt her pain deeply, as I just recently went through this also. But being much stronger than she thinks she is was my favorite part of this book. Plus her great friend was so fun and brought great humor with her.

book 2: Unexpected was definitely as good as the first, just a bit less chaotic. We get to see good growth in Emily. It is nice and refreshing to see her find some peace, as she more than deserves it. I absolutely love her character and the way she thinks.

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!

Wow! I totally planned to leave a review each book separately but I just couldn't stop in between. I was so caught up in the story that I didn't want to put my kindle down. Both books were amazing. The things that Emily goes through were felt and I connected so easily with her. My chest is still a bit tight with all that she goes through to end up exactly where she belongs. Nope, not gonna tell ya. Read it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
This was my first Jasmine Lee read and most definitely will not be my last. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review!

I loved this series! Jasmine Lee had me in tears with everything Emily had gone through, on some level, I have experienced some of what Emily has. Every emotion she felt is pretty much spot on. I love the fact that Jasmine gives us a book that is very realistic with everything the characters do. I can't wait to see what Jasmine Lee gives us in the future!
