Honey isn't my real name, but as each day goes by, I feel less and less like Honor Moretti.

This is Honor Moretti's story. She's the daughter of a Mafia don and she's on the run. On the run from her father, from her ruthless fiancée, from the Mob. Her one and only goal is to keep her 16-year old sister Clare, safe. If she has to strip to do it, she will. Sometimes you're best hidden when you're in plain view...

Honor (stage name Honey) senses him in the crowd the minute she steps on stage.. Her hackles are up. She knows someone is watching her... a man in the shadows looking her in the eye, confident, masculine, his gaze almost feral...

Kip eyes Honey in The Grand. He's been looking for her...his bounty finally found! He will wear her down, fuck her senseless, and walk away with the prize. He's not a good man but he's trained to get the job done. But there's something about this dancing brunette that throws him off. He wants more than just the bounty...he wants her.

Love the Way You Lie- I can't even think the title in my head without hearing Rhianna singing it- but I digress. The book is a slow burn, a plot trickle fed to the reader one chapter at a time. We clearly see that Kip is not a good man- he says as much- but who is he? Who does he work for? Her father? Her sadistic fiancée Byron? All the while, we see his tough exterior crack one encounter at a time. He's truly hunting her down yet finds himself protective of Honor. He wants her trust. She's clearly on the run and scared. Choosing to work in a seedy strip club under the management of more mafia filth. But she's got a warmth within her that draws the ugly away. He wants to help her but at what cost?

When I saw the opportunity to read and review Skye Warren's newest dark suspense book, I couldn't wait to dive in. She had me hooked with Wanderlust and again with Prisoner. She is a go-to author for me when I'm looking for a nice balance of dark, suspense, and steam. There's always a love story within her plots even if it's a bit convoluted. That being said, this book is very gray versus dark. It's typical mafia plot so we experience the seedy side of human nature. I try to stay away from comparing books from other authors but I think it's fair to say this book reminds me a lot of the Blood & Roses series by Callie Hart- in plot, in darkness and in steam. So fans of that series will likely really enjoy this. If that series was too dark, the same is likely with this book. And you're a fan of a dirty talker, Kip will rock your world. Dirty dirty mouth boy! Loved it. Example? Sure!

“I wanted to touch you since I first saw you walk onto the stage. Whether I have to pay or not, whether you return the favor or not, I don’t give a fuck. I’m going to finger this pretty cunt until you gush all over my hand. I’m going to keep going until you’re slick with it, until my jeans are damp with you, until the scent of your sex is in the air.”

Not enough for ya? Ooookay, one more...

“That’s what I want around my dick. Not your hands or your mouth. I want the juice from your pussy. When you’re wet and coming, I’m going to dip my fingers inside your pretty pussy. I’ll cover my dick with your juices, just like it would be if I fucked you bareback.”

Cough.... I found myself racking my brain trying to figure out who the mysterious Kip would be. Had I met his character before in the prequel novella? I did read Tough Love that is essentially the prequel to this book (and it's currently free on Smashwords). I'd recommend readers pick that up. It's definitely not required but you get the background before Clare and Honor escaped. We learn of how ruthless her fiancée is and why she needs to get Clare out of the mansion they've been imprisoned within for years. This was an all-around enjoyable read and I look forward to more within the Stripped Series

Addendum- 3/11/15 The prequel is also free on AMZ- http://amzn.to/1EzFdcH

description

Honor Moretti is on the run. She run away from her father, a Mafia Don and her asshole fiancée to protect herself and her sister. To do that she works a as stripper in a shitty bar, offering up extras for more cash. One night she meets Kip, a mysterious stranger who’s interested in her more than her usual clients. She doesn’t like the way he watches her and she feels there’s something more about him than his dangerous looks.

”I felt his interest, more than sexual. I felt his suspicion. I felt every instinct telling me he is there for more than a dance. I can’t afford not to listen.”

Honor is drawn from the beginning to Kip. She’s telling herself the only reason she wants to talk to him is because he’s a client, but the true is she wants to. She feels a strong attraction and connection towards him.

“I want to fuck you with my fingers. I want to play with your clit until you come. Or maybe I’ll slide my tongue over your pussy until you’re crying loud enough for the whole club to hear, hmm? Your choice, Honey.”

What will happen when the men who ‘hired’ Kip wants to hurt Honor?

This was just an ok read for me. After reading the first book in the series I’ve had high expectations for this one. I expected the story to progress in a different way. My main problem was the plot. It wasn’t as solid as I expected to be. Actually, for a mafia book it was pretty lame. I liked the premise, but sadly I can’t say I connected with the story. Maybe because it was too short for my liking. Needless to say the story felt very rushed to me.

Overall, both Honor and Kip were great enough characters. Honor was great wanting to protect her sister and sacrifices herself in the process. She accepts her faith and she doesn’t regret for one moment her decision to become a stripper. She will do anything to protect the one she loves the most. I really admired her strength and determination. Kip is dangerous and mysterious, a demanding and possessive man, but he also is caring and protective. Some of their interactions were great, but some of them felt flat to me.

While overall I liked them both, I would have liked to see more character development. Also I would have liked the mafia aspect of the story to be more developed. I know the story is labeled as a dark book because of this aspect, but for me it wasn’t, because like I mentioned the plot felt a little lame.

Overall, just an ok read for me.

TITLE: Love the Way You Lie
AUTHOR: Skye Warren
GENRE: Erotica | Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: March 12th 2015
MY RATING:★★★★

I did find myself humming "Love The Way You Lie" by EMINEM (feat. Rihanna) due to the bloody title of this book, now I am stuck with this song in my head lol

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

I found this a wee bit confusing to begin with I found it hard trying to piece the story line together, with bits the author was giving me..Once I caught up for the life of me I couldn't put this down..

SURVIVAL IS A LONG SHOT WHEN YOU HAVE DANGEROUS MEN HUNTING YOU

So here's the thing, the synopsis doesn't really give many clues as to what's install for you the reader, I jumped on this solely for the fact that it stated it was a dark read, for me it wasn't at all, not even grey or gritty, a few times it was just on the verge but it stopped there, if there was more details divulged it could've been a dark read, all in all though a really enjoyable read..

A DARK ROMANCE ABOUT LIES THAT LEAD US DOWN

I'd do anything to get safe
I'd do anything to stay hidden
I'd do anything to be free

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I used to think there were things I'd never do, Never take my clothes off for money, Never sell my body, Never f*ck a stranger just to survive

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'LL NEVER BE SAFE

Honey isn't my real name, but as each day goes by, I feel less and less like Honor Moretti.

Kip is a customer, the roughest kind, he's not my white knight, it's men like him I need saving from

BOUNTY HUNTERS

I'm definitely going to be reading the rest of the books in this series!!

Ugh! I do so hate it when this happens. After the awesome Prequel to this series, I was positively salivating for Love The Way You Lie, counting down the days to its release and then it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Skye Warren is an author I've enjoyed many times before in the past and I'm really sad this one didn't quite hit the mark for me.

After the prequel, I think I was probably expecting Clara's story but the story we get is of her elder sister, Honor, who had escaped with her from the clutches of her Mafioso family. Now they're hiding in seedy backstreet America and Honor is working as a stripper in a low class venue and offering up extras to the clientèle for cash. She's not much short of a hooker really. This all takes place about six months after the prequel and we flash back to that time and, sadly, I found those were the scenes I found the most interesting.

Kip comes into the club to watch her strip and pay for 'extras'and Honor is very drawn to him. The same thing happens over and over well beyond half of the novel and I was really struggling to get into it. I just couldn't seem to buy into the vibe and atmosphere the author was attempting to create. It should have worked for me - desperate heroine on the run very much in danger, really down on her luck and a dark and mysterious stranger is trying to keep her safe but for some reason it just missed the mark for me, sadly.

I'm not going to write a lengthy review, clearly this works for many other readers and the story is good and ultimately very dramatic but sadly, it just fell flat for me. I just failed to make that connection which is necessary for me to truly enjoy a book. Definitely not anywhere near as dark as I've read from Skye Warren in the past.

I honestly don't even know what to say about this book. I can't pinpoint what exactly it was about it that I didn't like, but I just felt so disconnected from the story and the characters that I couldn't enjoy it. So many things were happening and for me they just didn't work together. I ended up skimming some of the end because my interest was totally lost.

I can say that I found the heroine interesting for the majority of the beginning and wanting to know more about her kept me interested until around the 70% mark. I'm not giving up on this author and I'll gladly read her other books, but I think I'm done with this series. A few of the upcoming characters from the series were mentioned in this book and I didn't like them so I don't think I'll read their stories.

Another read with my beautiful PIC Cecelia 💕.
Really enjoyed it babes! 🥰

I also really enjoyed this book!
For a dark romance, it’s not the darkest. (there are a few messed up bits tho)

However it does have a few things I absolutely love in my dark romances such as:
⁂ A broody sexy MC.
⁂ A likable and strong FMC
⁂ Mafia families
⁂ Stripper/client romance
⁂ Passionate smut-scenes
⁂ Touch her & 💀 - vibes
⁂ Unexpected twists and turns

Short Synopsis :
When Honor needs to run from her troubled past, she end up becoming a stripper to provide for her and her little sister, as they live their undercover life.
One night while working, a stranger comes in and wants a ‘private dance’. Even though she is suspicious of this handsome stranger, she also somehow feels a connection.
Kip can’t take his eyes off Honor from the moment they meet. He’s trying his best to get to know Honor and make her trust him.
Can he be trusted though? Or does he have secret of his own?

☙ ⏤⏤⏤⏤ ❧

This being my first Skye Warren book, I’m definitely interested in reading more of her work.
She knows how to build the chemistry and desire! I also felt connected with the characters.
The book itself is only 250 pages long, which I also appreciate!
I’ve seen quite a few (dark and contemporary) romances recently with over 600 pages, and usually there’s really not that much to the story.

Definitely excited to continue this series! 🤍

Quotes :

“We’ll do anything for the people we love, even rely on the ones we hate”

“I'm afraid of the wind, afraid of its force, but what I didn't realize is that the greater danger lay ahead of me. Kip is my cliff. Every gust of wind pushes me closer. It's only a matter of time before I fall.”

“This isn’t a place for miracles. But I’m wishing for one anyway”

“He's wrong for me. Dangerous. Desire doesn't ask questions. Neither does love.”

“He's like a lion hiding in the tall grass. Only in this case they're tall buildings of steel and concrete. By the time the gazelle sees him, it's too late.”

“I’m here because of simple, stupid hope”

“I think of Peter Pan flying off into Neverland, taking Wendy with him. I think of sword fights and fairies. That's how it feels in the clearing—like magic.”

2,5 'boring' stars

My disappointment might have something to do with who the main characters are. After reading the prequel I was so ready for Gio and Clara (btw their book is the fourth. Why hyped me up with their story and then let me wait so long for them??)

Anyway, Honor and Kip were not that interesting. Honor is such a bland character. She suffered so much throughout her whole life but I just couldn't bring myself to care about her. And Kip is a typical bad boy with a knight-in-a-shining-armor kind of heart but without a bit of personality. Unless, if leather jacket counts as personality, then I guess, he had it a little.

I almost DNFed it a couple of times but then I decided to skip-read it to the end. The story picks up slightly around 75% which is the only reason why I rounded up the rating. But honestly, if it takes 3/4 of the book to finally get my attention, I say it's not worth much.

I'll probably continue with the series. I want to get to Clara and Gio at least. However, the following two books are about Blue, Lola, Ivan, and Candy and I can't say I liked any of these characters. I hope they will prove me wrong but I'm not holding my breath.

Sex, Lies And Betrayals

On the run from her abusive fiancé and her Mafia father, Honor has turned to selling the only asset she has...herself. Stripping under the name of Honey, at a rundown club on the rough side of town, she's willing to do anything to avoid discovery. All that matters is that she and Clara are safe, away from Byron and his friends.

When a mysterious stranger begins showing interest in Honey at the club, things aren't adding up. Despite the warnings and her suspicions, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to the handsome stranger, Kip. Little by little, she grows closer to Kip and begins to let down her walls.

Just when Honor begins to place her trust in Kip, truths come to light that change everything. The betrayal runs deep. With her world crashing down around her and her life in jeopardy, Honor finds herself back in the hands of the man she's been hiding from.

From beginning to end, this book had me captivated. After reading the prequel, I was disappointed that this book didn't pick up with Clara's story, but I'm sure it will come later on. This book was suspenseful and entertaining. While not as dark as I had anticipated, it was still a great read. I'm sure I'll be continuing this series.

I’ve been wondering if this series is related to the last 3 series I’ve read before. And I was so glad to see that there were some connections.
But somehow... this book had less spark than the other 7 books written by Skye that I’ve read these days.
Honor and Kip were a strange couple. Not that I mind, but I just felt like something was missing. I got used to Gabriel and Damon who were rough and knew what they wanted, but Kip gave me the impression that he was confused.
I loved the fact that the story had action and I had no time to get bored. And I loved the ending. The jewels! Oh my God... lucky girl.
Can’t wait to read Blue’s story next.

Fav quotes:

Type: Standalone book 1 of Stripped series
POV: First Person - Female
Rating:

ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

“I’m afraid of dying, but I’m more afraid of never living.”

Honor Moretti was the daughter of a Mob boss who has been caged by her father’s will her whole life. When she finally had enough, she took her sister and ran away from the toxic environment. To make ends meet, she worked as a stripper and caught the eye of a customer.

Kip was not just any customer looking for a cheap thrill. He sat his eyes on Honor and determined to set things straight. But with the lies that surrounded them, it was bound to be a battle.

I am a sucker for dark romance so I was thrilled to start this one. Even though it was more on the lighter side, I was not disappointed. Love The Way You Lie was heartwarming, exhilarating and tantalizing with just the right tinge of darkness.

I love stories of downfall and this is what this book was about to a certain degree. Honor and her sister Clara grew up in dirty wealth of their Mafioso father. Even though she could technically have anything she wanted, she was deprived of one thing she crave the most – her freedom. And freedom didn’t come cheap.

I let them do this to me. I don’t fight. I can’t fight. It’s not only me who’ll get hurt if I do.

I love Honor because of what and why she did certain things. Her being a stripper was only a front for something else more important to her and her younger sister. As young as Honor was, I love how she took responsibility and how fiercely protective she was of her sibling.

Kip… well, well… What can I say? Men who are darkly mysterious and dangerously sexy are some of my favorite panty-dropping quality and Kip was all that.

He’s like a cat bringing me a dead mouse as a gift. Disturbing. And sweet.

However, behind the alluring dark persona, Kip was also sweet in his own way and I really love that quality in him. As great as Kip was, I did have a problem with his character towards the end. I got confused with who he really was in the past. Was he someone significant from their past? I don’t know if I missed something or if it wasn’t elaborated properly.

I love that beside the restrained aspect of their relationship there were also moments of actions toward the end of the story. Though I have to say it won’t hurt to have a little bit more considering whom she was running from.

One of my favorite scene was actually the quite disturbing one – it was the “father’s office” scene. It was good… I mean bad, but really good. Oh well, you just have to find out yourself!

This series is actually my first foray into the author’s work and from what I can see, I’m really looking forward to the next book.

I tried so hard to like Love the Way YoubLoe more than 2 stars. Sadly at the end, I just give up. Miss Warren fills this book with a lot of sex. Again, sadly the sex scenes are not hot. In my opinion the supposed to be hot sizzling sex is just choppy, cold and uninteresting.

I am not continuing the rest of this series anymore.

Almost-DNFed @ 34% then skimmed until 80% when it suddenly got better.

MEH or the BAD: ***SPOILERS***
@34% was going to DNF after reading a detailed sex-scene flashback of 20yo mafia-daughter h getting roughly analed by her sleazy cop/next-mafia-boss fiance OM (who's actually also H's bro) while her dad was watching & patting her head and h just passively let it all happen & she didn't even fight OM or her dad verbally or physically. h was too passive overall. She let OM slap her around, smex her roughly & leave her bruises when she displeased him. She also didn't even try to find another job or hiding options, once she ran with her sister. She took the first job she could find & became a stripper. She quickly added prostitution to her job description with whoever was willing to pay her for whatever sex act. And it sounded like she whored herself to many men in the private room. That was all within 6 months from running away from home. So, not surprising that new client 30s H used her sexually right away although the payment was strange “gifts” he'd offer her (i.e., taser, gun).

Sex-based for first 80% and lacked romance/emotions. Lacked sexual tension since h was too easy & gave in to H's sexual demands. Sex scenes were plenty & detailed but lust-centered on H's needs/kinks. H only started oraling h @ 80% & before that was about his power-domination of h sexually (i.e., telling her to self-pleasure on his boot, her BJ-ing him, H demanding bareback sex & getting it).

The GOOD:
By 80%, sudden romance development made clear after h was hospitalized from being shot by OM and H finally told her his secrets (i.e., he was her ex-fiance's bro, her younger sister is also his & OM's half-sister from his dad's affair with her mom, he'd seen h since they were both kids @ her mafia-dad's estate & professed to being in love with her since). By 84%, finally some emotional involvement! I got teary-eyed from some angst due to h thinking that she really had no worth & that H only cared about her sister & told now-gentle & -anguished H to leave & he did. Then, he came back & told her how he'd loved her since he first saw her when they were kids and apologized for using her & keeping his true ID a secret from her for so long. Wished the romance & especially H's secret love for h was shown much earlier.

Sexual History:
Sheltered h de-virginized @ 14yo by her secret affair by her much-older bodyguard after her mom's death. Don't know if she had other lovers before her arranged-fiance OM. She let OM roughly sex her & anal her without her protesting since she was scared of physical abuse if she did so since he beat her & handled her roughly to bruise for other non-sexual things. Twice her ailing mafia-boss father witnessed OM roughly smexxing her & didn't say or do anything to stop him. When she ran away to become a stripper just 6 months before, she had sex with many paying clients. When she started doing sexual things with H (oral, mutual masturbation, H fingering her), she still did sexual things with her private-room clients. No info on H's sexual & dating history.

Ok so here's the thing. It's not that I didn't like Skyes book. Great writing, amazing story. My problem is about Clara and Giovanni.

Yup, folks. And quite frankly I'm kinda pissed. Where the heck did Gio go!? I was really excited to continue on in there story. I'm kinda upset. Great story tho. Definitely worth the money.

Few things tiny things were left unfinished... mainly Gio :(
I wanted to believe something better happened.. but we weren't told.

The end was TOOOOO rushed up maybe, I felt...

But none the less, I liked the story! Dark, Gritty, Forbidden.
Loved the whole plot, really enjoyed the authors writing.

I'll surely be reading more of her books.

It wasn't as good as the prequel, maybe a .25 star lesser than the prequel. I LOVED Honor's characters. And Kip... *sigh* loved him too.

The story, about the tigers stripes, love how it connected with him[Kip]. Loved the darkness to that. First time I've ever heard it.. guess I'll gained some knowledge about it... will surely be keeping that 'tale' forever. :P

Nice story, I loved the way it started and the writing was beautiful, but something was missing for me. To me it lacked a hero, until I realized the herione Honor was the hero and the herione. The story is mostly about Honor and how she's trying to survive after running from her mafia family. The relationship between Kip and Honor kindled so fast that I just didn't connect to them and I found their chemistry lacking. I think I was expecting to see more of Kip in this story. Overall, a bit more character development would've made this a knockout read.

I just discovered Skye Warren and I really liked Prisoner, and even though this didn't wow me, I'll definitely read more of her books in the future.

Ok...first and foremost, as I was reading the book, automatically the song Love the Way You Lie by Eminem and Rihanna does pop into my head. And in Skye Warren's newest release, love and lies are the main themes in this book. When I first read the prequel, I thought I was going to be reading the continuation of Gio and Clara's story but I was totally surprised that this book was about Honor, Clara's older sister. And I love that I was completely surprised to read Honor's story and what a story it is.

How far would you go to protect your loved ones? Are you willing to sell your body for sex? Bare your body to be ogled at? Strip night after night for seedy men? If so, then get ready to meet Honor who would bare it all if it means to ensure the safety of her younger sister, Clara. Honor and Clara are on the run after escaping their former lives as children of the head mob boss. Honor was arranged to marry Byron, a ruthless corrupted man but she decides to take a chance to be free when she and Clara decide to live a life on the run. And in order to put money on the table, she strips and bares her body just to get by in life. With danger lurking, Honor and Clara are constantly looking over their shoulders.

From a princess of a mafia family to now a stripper, Honor never expected to meet this dark, handsome and mysterious man who constantly challenges her. Like a moth to flame, she can't help but be drawn to his sexuality and these new feelings that he ignites within her. Sex used to be associated with pain and humiliation but with Kip, he brings out this new raw sexual desire. As much as she is attracted to Kip, she knows that both of them have secrets. Can Kip and Honor reveal their true identity and motivations? Was meeting Kip a circumstance of fate or planned? So can love overcome all the lies and secrets?

#LoveTheWayYouLie

Love the Way You Lie was one of those stories that had you on pins and needles because you are constantly wondering how does Kip fit into the picture. As a reader, I'm constantly wondering if Kip is part of the mafia or associated to Byron. And I love how Skye Warren kept the suspense and the unveiling of the truth at an ultimate high. This book was packed with so much emotion and sexiness that you are drawn to the vulnerability of Honor of her past and current life. If you are looking for a book that has depth and how far you would go for love, then go read this book.

“What’s your name?” His voice is low—and desperate? That can’t be right. He doesn’t need anything from me. He could have gone to a bar. With that hard jaw and hard body, he would have had his pick. Any girl would have hopped on the back of the motorcycle I suspect he has. And yet he’s here.

He can pay for my mouth. He can even pay for my orgasms. He doesn’t get my name.

“Honey.”

He laughs, a little coarse, a little bitter. But his eyes, they understand. They’re almost soft, tender as they look down at me kneeling. “Pretty little liar.”

Is that a pretty little liar reference?

Doesn't matter. I don't like the series and never watched it.

Is this book safe? No, there's an explicit rape scene where the heroine gets raped by her fiance, in front of her father. Do you think it's disturbing? Wait a minute,

The father is even okay that his daughter is getting raped. he just stands there and let it happen. and from the story, it seemed not the only time.

Recently I read B.B. Reid's The Prince and the Pawn and there's a scene where the hero fucks the heroine in front of her sister. And I thought that was disgusting but now I don't know what disgusting anymore. It's just way too gross.

Also, the heroine work as a stripper.

There are a few scenes between the hero and the heroine was emotional. The hero tried hard not to fall for her but he couldn't stay away. However, I didn't find the connection between the protagonists. It was more sexual than emotional to me.

Contains TOUGH LOVE and LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE - the first two books in the bestselling Stripped series! Meet two sisters and the dangerous men they fall in love with…

TOUGH LOVE
He’s the son of a mafia foot soldier. My father is the boss. I shouldn’t even know Giovanni. And I definitely shouldn’t kiss him. Our relationship is doomed to fail, but that won’t stop me from trying.

Not every girl wants to be a princess. I just want to be free.

LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE
I'll do anything to stay hidden, even if that means working at the scariest club in town. Then he shows up, mysterious and yet strangely familiar. And so damn sexy.

He's the only man who wants to help, but he has secrets of his own. He has questions I can't answer.

I’m running from my past, but his might catch me first.

This was just an ok read for me. Quite honestly, it will probably be one of those books that in time I will forget what happened. I see this is part of the "Stripped" series...considering that this series is about the strippers who work in a strip joint, I can see why!!! There was a lot of suspense in this story, and for that I really enjoyed learning different information about the characters as the story progressed. By the end of the story though, when the hero and heroine revealed their feelings for one another, and the romance picked up....I felt it was almost forced. It just didn't seem to fit very well with them. This would be when my stars dropped! LOL

Will I continue on with this series? I think I will, it has the potential to be something even greater than the first. I am hopeful that the second book will be a ton better. I have always enjoyed Skye Warren's stories. They usually are on the darker side of things; and there was a dark tone to this book, but it was not gruesome or anything like that. Here's to hoping the series picks up.

Love The Way You Lie was the first book in the Stripped series by Skye Warren.

The prequel, Tough Love, ended with Honor and her sister Clara on the run in order to be safe from the violence of the mafia. She was the eldest daughter to the local mafia Don and was engaged to the new mafia Don - both evil and violent men. Love the Way You Lie began with them in hiding. Honor was working as a stripper to keep Clara safe. It was told with a single POV while Warren used a mixture of present with flashback scenes to complete the storyline. It was a suspenseful plot and it kept me turning the pages quickly wanting to know what ultimately happened.

In the end, it was a fairly quick read, well written and well developed. Although the main conflict was resolved, there were still several loose ends that I expect will be carried over through the series. I can’t wait to get Clara’s story, but until then next up is Blue and Lola in Better When it Hurts.

I loved the plot, Honor, daughter of a Mob boss, is a runaway, escaping her father and protecting her sister Clara, while dancing on a strip club to survive. She meets Kip, a customer with a dark past and secrets to hide. But he is not just a customer, he's dark, twisted, scary, but he wants to take care of her, and she wants to let him, but she can't let her guard down.
There are some many twists and secrets, I loved them! But I don't give it more stars because I didn't really like the characters or felt them truly believable or felt something towards them.
Bonus: Enjoyed the steamy scenes!

Beautifully and Exquisitely Written! Seductive and Entrancing
This is not a pretty flowers and candlelight romance. It's more a traverse though the more sinister places of reality. A place where you are afraid to hope. Where life and death walk hand and hand every single day.
That is where Honor finds herself and we get to read about her life in these pages. She's not always strong, nor is she always weak. But she will do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves.

Ok so.. a friend recommended this one. I started reading it, and realized that I’ve actually read it before. I’m not going to rate it, because I don’t actually remember if it was good or not. I think I liked it... but yeah. No rating. Only adding so I know I read it once upon a time.

"Honey" is a stripper but she's also the daughter of a mob boss. She ran away to escape the abuse of her fiance and to protect her sister. During one of her performances she sees a "dangerous guy" but before she thinks he's dangerous, she feels the pickles on the back of her neck that a cop is nearby. What? First off, unless this is a paranormal, stop with crap like that. Anyway she's not even right, but he is someone unexpected.

Anywho the story is slow for a while. She gets other dudes off while occasionally hooking up with Kip. The story went from repetitive and slow to what the crap is happening towards then end.

My biggest problem was that so many "true" explanations were given and each time he was like we'll that's not the truth, by the end I had no idea what was going on because his final explanation didn't cover everything.

Wasn't a terrible read and seems like others enjoyed it but missed the mark for me. For a dark romance I was missing any darkness from Kip. I didn't much like Honey or Honor, whatever you want to call her.

I wanted to like this more. The writing is good; solid and clean. Honor and Kip work well together and apart. The plot has some decent twists and the supporting characters keep everything interesting. Sadly, my expectations of this story ruined it for me. A part of me felt betrayed and deceived. It was supposed to be a 'dark new adult romance' and instead I got something else. Not sure what that was. There was no edge to it, not real grit, and I didn't feel it when the author tried. The only thing that happened for me towards the end (besides relief I finished it) was just regret that I didn't like the book or the characters more.
