Women Fall at League-Leading Green Bay

Box Score

A Courtney Boyd three tied the game three minutes into the second half, only to see Green Bay follow with an 18-6 run as the Phoenix defeated the Wright State women's basketball team 61-45 Thursday night at the Kress Events Center.

Green Bay scored the first five points of the contest and had the lead until the Raiders tied the game on back-to-back threes by Breanna Stucke, the second coming with 9:08 remaining in the first half.  The Phoenix, however, went back in front with five straight points and maintained the advantage the rest of the period, going into the break up 28-24.

WSU had a slight higher shooting percentage in the opening 20 minutes, shooting 35 percent compared to 33 percent for Green Bay, but the Phoenix had seven more attempts thanks in part to a 5-1 edge in offensive rebounds.

Wright State again tied the game at 32 on a Boyd three at the 17-minute mark of the second half, but could not take the lead as Green Bay went in front for good with five straight points to start the decisive 18-6 run.  The Raiders would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.

The Phoenix shot 44 percent in the second half to finish at 39 percent overall while WSU shot 28 percent the final 20 minutes to end up at 31 percent.

Boyd led the Raiders with 16 points while Tay'ler Mingo had 10 points along with six assists.

Tesha Buck paced Green Bay (19-4, 9-1 Horizon) with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds while Mehryn Kraker had 14 points and Sam Terry 11 off the bench.

Wright State (18-6, 7-3 Horizon) travels to UIC Saturday for a 4:00 Eastern contest.
