Tracking Auburn's commits: RB Kerryon Johnson to play for another state title

While many high school football teams saw their seasons end last night, a few Auburn commits have advanced to the next round of the playoffs.

As for in-state commitments, Kerryon Johnson and Madison Academy advanced to to their fourth consecutive Class 3A state championship game with a 31-28 win over Glencoe. Johnson carried 19 times for 173 yards and a touchdown.

The Mustangs face Dale County next Thursday at 11 a.m. in Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium for a shot at another title. Fellow Auburn commit Darrell Williams will play in the Class 7A state title game Wednesday night at 7 p.m., as Hoover takes on Prattville.

Stephen Davis Jr. of Dutch Fork (S.C.) will also play for a state championship in out-of-state competition. The 2016 safety commit rushed five times for 95 yards in two scores, as his team dominated Byrnes 41-6.

Pledges Chandler Cox and Landon Rice of Apopka, Fla., and Calhoun, Ga., have advanced to their respective state semifinal games. Cox rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns with a third through the air in a win over Jacksonville First Coast. Rice helped his team earn a safety in a 19-17 win over Elbert County, according to 247Sports.
