Fancy food, wine and movies under the stars? This year the Mudgee region kicks off its 11th annual Mudfest – International short film festival with its biggest screen yet.
Mudgee Region is prepared to welcome thousands to its 11th annual MudFest, an outdoor short film festival held on the sweeping grounds of Bunnamagoo Estate on 21 March 2015.
This year is set to be the biggest yet and features the largest screen MudFest has ever used. As dusk falls guests will be treated to 15 short films that have been selected from more than one thousands entries.
In the past 11 years, MudFest has become an international occasion. This year’s event has attracted attention from all over the world and has received thousands of film entries from more than 36 countries, including Spain, France, the UK, Australia and the United States.
MudFest tickets cost $30 per person, and gates will open at 5 pm
MudFest began as the first international short film festival outside of Sydney in New South Wales, with 50 guests crammed into the Butcher Shop Café. Since then, it has screened BAFTA Award winning films and was featured at the Australia Day G’Day Week celebrations in Los Angeles.
“Mudgee Region has always been an avid supporter of the arts, and creating our very own film festival is a strong example of this. We’ve featured some amazing films in the past but this year has one of the strongest line-ups we’ve ever presented” said Mike O’Malley, MudFest Co-Founder.

MudFest grants a “Best Local Film” and “Best Australian Film” title to honour some of the featured Aussies. MudFest has also partnered with Bunnamagoo Estate Wines and the Mudgee Brewery so guests can bring a picnic or buy food onsite and enjoy a glass of Mudgee wine or beer.
“Set under a sky filled with stars, Bunnamagoo is the ideal setting for a unique film festival experience and is the perfect example of an event that oozes the ‘country charm’ that our region is known for. This year, Mudgee Tourism has partnered with accommodation providers to offer a range of ‘Mudfest Weekend Packages’ to suit a variety of budgets. Visiting guests can also take advantage of the many attractions of the Mudgee Region, including more than 40 local wineries and vineyards.”

MudFest tickets cost $30 per person, and gates will open at 5 pm. The evening will begin with live music, followed by a screening that is set to run for approximately two hours. Guests may purchase food or bring a picnic*.
Festival Directors suggest bringing a rug or seat as well as clothing that is appropriate for the cooler evening weather.
