Bulldogs Take Second at Lesseig Bulldog Classic

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Nicolle Barmettler took third place, while her sister Kim Barmettler grabbed a fifth place finish of her own, as the Truman women's golf team finished in second place at the 2015 Sam Lesseig Bulldog Classic, hosted by Truman and the Kirksville Country Club.

All teams in the field battled cold and very blustery conditions on day two, as only five players in the field were able to shoot a better day two score than in round one on Sunday. Nicolle shot the third-lowest round of the day with an 86 en route to a two-day 168, while older sister Kim's 87 moved her up two spots to finish in a tie for fifth at 173. Senior Courtney Cisler finished in seventh place with a two-day 175 with a day two 92, and junior Olumayomide Coker was one of the five to post a better score on day two, besting her day one 92 by one shot to finish in 14th with a 183. Senior Riley Keltner rounded out the Bulldogs' top team with a two-day190.

The Bulldogs' second team was led by junior Alex Reiser's 15th-place 186, while sophomore Clare Munie and freshman Courtney Schaper tied for 23rd with a 197. Freshman Amanda Ressel took 25th with a 198, and redshirt freshman Becca Bates shot a 228 for a 27th-place finish. Redshirt freshman Lily Burrow carded a two-day 246 for a 28th-place mark.

The top Truman top shot a two-day total of 695, which followed team champion William Jewell's score of 672. WJC's Alex Trask was the tournament medalist with a 164.

The Bulldogs will close the 2014-15 season this coming weekend, beginning Friday with the first round (of three) at the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships.
