Barclay College auction ends two days of activities

On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Barclay College Ladies Auxiliary will hold its 84th annual sale and auction at Hockett Auditorium on the Barclay College campus in Haviland. The sale begins at 9 a.m. This annual event draws hundreds from around the country vying to make the winning bid on quilts, antiques, handmade crafts and much more.

This year a 1961 Chevrolet Apache Pickup will be sold at 1 p.m. Following the sale of the pickup, the quilt auction will begin. There will be various sizes and designs and both machine and hand quilting featured on the quilts.

The sale caps off a full two days of activities at Barclay College. Beginning Friday there is an Alumni Volleyball game at 4 p.m. at the Haviland High School gym.

From 5:30-7 p.m. a barbecue dinner at the soccer field will be served. Meal is by donation and benefits the Barclay College Alumni Association. At 7:30 p.m. the alumni soccer game will be played at Barclay Field.

Larry Lewis,vice president for institutional advancement at Barclay College said, “People mark this date on the calendars every year in anticipation of fun and fellowship. We are so thankful for the many people who contribute and volunteer to make it a wonderful event.”

All proceeds from the sale and auction benefit the Barclay College Full Tuition Scholarship program.
