CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - May 2, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's track and field team competed at the New England Championship hosted by MIT.
RESULTSThe Chargers finished tied for 26th out of 31.
Rachel Quaye came away with one of two school records that were set this weekend. She scored 4039 points in the heptathlon to beat the previous total of 3851 set in 2001 by Addy Danaher. Highlighting the seven events for Quaye, was a first place in the shot put with a distance of 11.82 meters. She also placed second in the javelin with a distance of 35.21 meters. Quaye also competed in the javelin event not associated with the heptathlon and finished 11th with a distance of 34.30 meters.
The other school record set on Saturday was from the 4x400 relay team. The squad of
Emily Lopez,
Heather Faasse,
Paige O'Malley and
Courtney Figucia beat the previous record by nearly six seconds with a time of 4:08.71 to place 12th.
Emily Lopez also took part in an individual event. She finished tied for 14th in the high jump with a height of 1.49 meters.
Becca Hashem competed in a pair of events over the weekend. She finished 10th in the discus (35.82m) and 24th in the hammer (38.55m).
Freshman
Emmani Robinson had a distance of 10.84 meters to place 18th in the shot put.
Members of the team will compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on May 15-16 at Springfield College.
