Hadi to Meet with Houthis in Geneva

The fugitive President of Yemen Abd Rabuh Mansour Hadi is prepared to travel to Geneva for peace talks with Houthis.

Yemen: Fugitive President Abdrabbu Mansour HadiThe fugitive President of Yemen Abd Rabuh Mansour Hadi is prepared to travel to Geneva for peace talks with Houthis, Hadi's aide said Wednesday.

The talks in Switzerland had been previously postponed and no new date for the UN-led talks has been officially announced.

A UN official said it is hoped the talks would begin by June 10, Al Jazeera website reported.

US State department officials confirmed high-level officials met with Houthi representatives in the Sultanate of Oman in an attempt to reach a political solution to resolve the conflict in the country.

US State Department spokesman Marie Harf said that "the goal of the Geneva meeting is to emphasize our view that only a political solution, is a guarantor in resolving the crisis-ridden Yemen."

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-US coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
