PROVO, Utah (Apr. 25) – In preparation for the Big Sky Conference Championships on Apr. 27, the SUU men's golf team participated in BYU's Ping Cougar Classic over the weekend. The Thunderbirds left with a fifth place finish and two individual top-5 finishers.
Nic Booth and Tim Leonard led the charge for SUU after both tied for third place. Booth shot a 4-under-par 212 (69, 69, 74) for the tournament with Leonard matching that total of 212 (69, 73, 70).
Fidel Concepcion opened the first two rounds shooting a 75 per round and then improved to 73 in the third round for a total of 7-over-par 223. Sammy Cole rounded out the scoring for SUU with an 8-over par 224, leaving him tied for 46th.
The Thunderbirds had a practice round on Sunday at the Big Sky Conference Championship and will play the first round on Monday, Apr. 27 starting at 8:00 a.m. The tournament will be played at the Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort in Angels Camp, Calif.
