Russia, Cambodia sign anti-terror MoU

Russia and Cambodia signed an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding, where the countries agreed to jointly fight against terrorism, TASS reports.

The document was signed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng according to the report.

The memorandum is “devoted to boosting activity in the fight against terrorism, one of the key evils,” Lavrov was quoted by the news agency as saying. “We appreciate our traditionally friendly relations with Cambodia and are interested in promoting them in all the spheres and the intensification in the law enforcement sphere.”

Kheng said his visit to Russia is a great opportunity to build ties. “We need to continue our political dialogue at the level of the heads of governments, ministries and agencies,” he was quoted by TASS as saying.

Lavrov called for greater engagement between Russia and ASEAN. “We value our cooperation as part of the Asia-Pacific Region bodies, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN),” Lavrov said, according to the report.
