WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Nineteen Northeastern student-athletes were honored as 2014-15 Hockey East All-Academic selections, as announced by the league on Tuesday. 

From the men's hockey team, Zach Aston-Reese, Dax Lauwers, Tanner Pond and Ryan Rosenthal each achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in both semesters last season to earn All-Academic honors. 

Fifteen members of the Northeastern women's team also achieved All-Academic status: McKenna Brand, Taytum Clairmont, Kendall Coyne, Chloe Desjardins, Ann Doherty, Sarah Foss, Chelsey Goldberg, Melissa Haganey, Shelby Herrington, Jordan Krause, Heather Mottau, Colleen Murphy, Lucie Povova, Hayley Scamurra, and Halle Silva. 

Doherty earned the accolade for the fourth straight season to claim Hockey East Distinguished Scholar status. The Park Ridge, Illinois, native was one of only nine players in WHEA to be named a Distinguished Scholar in 2014-15. 

In total, 133 men's hockey student-athletes and 106 women's hockey student-athletes earned Hockey East All-Academic honors last season. Both figures represent new records for the league.

The accolades come on the heels of a highly successful academic season for Northeastern's student-athletes. For the fifteenth straight semester, NU student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA above 3.0, including a 3.19 average for the spring semester–the highest mark in more than 10 years.
