Five ways you can have fun this weekend:

1. The big movies opening in theaters this week are “Taken 3” (they made another one?), a PG-13 flick again starring Liam Neeson; and “Inherent Vice,” an R comedy crime movie based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Pynchon and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Owen Wilson.

2. The NFL playoffs continue this weekend. Two games take place Saturday and two on Sunday. Check the TV listings or NFL.com for more information.

3. If you want more sports action, the NHL and NBA also are in action all weekend long. Check the paper or your favorite sports site for more information.

4. If you’re fortunate enough to live in a snowy area, this weekend should be a good time to go sledding or build a snowman. That horrible cold snap is over, so stave off cabin fever and go have some fun in the snow!

5. Once you’re done playing outside, why not make yourself a cup of hot tea or have a steaming-hot bowl of soup? January is National Hot Tea Month and National Soup Month, so take part in the fun while warming up.
