BOX SCORE Game 2

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Centenary swept a Colonial States Athletic Conference Doubleheader over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday, winning game one, 4-3, and the second, 4-1, extending the Griffin winless streak to five games.

The Griffins (16-10, 11-7 CSAC) were nickeled and dimed in game one, as each run scored was seemingly countered by the Cyclones. Centenary went up 2-0 in the first using back-to-back RBI doubles before Gwynedd got a run home in the second. Now trailing 3-1 in the fourth, GMercyU got a run back thanks to an RBI single from Amanda Hesson (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy).

After a leadoff homer in the fifth from Carolyn Clites to make it 4-2, MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) would triple home Megan Kelly (Ivyland, Pa./Little Flower) in the sixth. But the Griffins went 1-2-3 in the seventh to end the contest.

Ballerino scored a run and stole a base while Kelly scored twice. Clites finished 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI's for Centenary.

In game two, the Griffins were held to two hits over the first six innings. GMercyU did not get on the board until the seventh when freshman Jessica Behr (Philadelphia,
Pa./MaST Charter) singled home Hesson.

Samantha Darling struck out five with two walks for Centenary (12-15, 11-2 CSAC).

Gwyedd Mercy will look to snap the streak on Tuesday when Immaculata visits for a pair starting at 3 p.m. With one win, the Griffins can secure a playoff berth.
