Budweiser truck carrying 300 barrels of beer tips over in Bay County

MONITOR TOWNSHIP, MI -- A semi-trailer truck carrying 303 barrels of beer tipped over in Bay County's Monitor Township this morning.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m. Friday, June 19, a Budweiser truck driver heading to Fabiano Bros. beverage distributor tipped over on Fisher Road east of Mackinaw Road, said Bay County Undersheriff Troy Cunningham.

The driver of the vehicle was unharmed in the incident, according to police. The beer barrels stayed inside the truck and all appeared to be intact, Cunningham said.

The truck is owned by Werner Enterprises and was making a delivery to Fabiano from Columbus, Ohio, said John Bicknell, chief operating officer at Fabiano.

Members of the Monitor Township fire department are at the scene turning the barrels right-side up following the incident.

The 303 barrels works out to more than 30,000 pounds of beer.

A Times reporter and photographer are heading to the scene.
