After giving her boyfriend an ultimatum, her or his job, Rosie Storm finds herself suddenly single and feeling like she needs to go find herself. Part demon, witch, and human Rosie makes a deal with the angel, Kellareal, she tames her power and he will send her to a place where she can find herself. However she cannot divulge that she is anything but human. Finding herself in the mix of hybrids who had been tortured, imprisoned, and about to be wiped out, Kellareal transplanted them to another dimension, hiding them from others in Exiled.

Carnal enters the picture after losing his best friend. He is intrigued by Rosie, she is different than the other humans he has been with. Carnal just assumed she would want to sleep with him, he couldn't have been more wrong. Danger lurks, secrets are kept, and a civilization is about to take a huge step to save their people.

Riveting. This was unlike any book I have read before. The emotion of the hybrids weariness about humans, their efforts to strive, and seeing Rosie's growth is met with a ton of emotions. You could easily picture every aspect of this story. Loved Carnal, he is bad boy and his interest in Rosie grows from lust to something more. Very powerful read. Thrilled to have found a new to me author and she has a ton of books to read to keep me busy until the next Exiled book.

This series is a paranormal/sci-fi/fantasy romance series. Or at least it has been through all the Order of the Swan books. (This book purports to be a spin off.) But this book breaks that happily-ever-after mold. It seems like a romance, until the very end. Then you find out it's a tragedy. I felt sucker-punched and very disappointed. I do not read this genre for tragedy. Tragic backstories should remain IN THE BACKGROUND. I do not want to read every detail as it unfolds. So be forewarned, if you're like me, you'll be pissed.

This book would have gotten a 4 or 5 from me if not for the sucker punch. Bad author, bad!

How do I tell you all how wonderful this book was without giving away spoilers? Not going to be easy. In my opinion this was Victoria’s Best Book Ever. (To Date). It made me reach deep inside & pulled at all of my emotions. Yes I am a very emotional person. But it still reached to the deepest regions & grabbed me & pulled them to the surface. It made me Laugh out loud. Yes I did snort!
Kallareal, the resident angel from The Knights of Black Swan series, Takes Rosie to the Exiled to help her run away. This is a tale with Rosie in it. We learn how she makes friends. We learn a lot about Rosie. We Meet Carnal. I personally fell hopelessly for Carnal. He is everything a great Book Boyfriend should be. Tall dark & Sexy. Plus he rides a Motorcycle. And He Purrs. How sexy that is. We get to meet a whole new set of characters in this book. More for us to love.
This book had the Action & Adventure we are used to with a Victoria Danann book. There is a couple of very sexy scenes in here also. The way Victoria writes is just Brilliant. She tells a tale like no other. Please do yourself a huge favor & get this book. You will not regret it. Maybe we need more stars for this book. I personally would give it 10 stars. It is that Great! Now go get your copy. From a Forever Fan… Pam James

WOW!!!! It's been a while since I've read any Black Swan & maybe I had forgotten just how much I love this series, but I REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! I have been a fan of Victoria Danann since I first read her first book & this book has done nothing to change that.

The characters and the relationships in this book are well developed and I have to say this may be my favorite book in the entire series. I really want to say so much more but I don't want to give anything away. I will say that I laughed a lot while reading it and I also cried pretty hard.

Thanks for another great story, Ms. Danann. Can't wait to read more.

Carnal: The Beast Who Loved Me takes place immediately after Vampire Hunter, Book 8 of Knights of Black Swan, and Journey Man (Book 9). Carnal follows Rosie Storm to another dimension where she flees to sort out her hurt feelings and to find some purpose for her life after the end of book 8 .

Family friend, the angel Kellareal (a.k.a. Lally to Rosie) answers Rosie’s plea to hide her by depositing her on a planet where he had secretly moved a group of human/animal hybrids to save them from being exterminated by the humans who had created them on yet another planet. In return for being saved and transported from their home planet, the hybrids agreed to serve as protectors for the humans of their new planet home, who were in danger from the hybrids they had created.

As part of her deal with Kellareal, Rosie agrees to live as an apparent human and not use her demon or witch abilities while there—so as not to endanger Kellareal’s project by bringing it to the attention of the gods and goddesses from whom he was keeping it a secret—said gods and goddesses having caused serious problems with their experimental manipulation of species on various planets.

Carnal: The Beast Who Loved Me is Rosie’s coming of age story, as she experiences work for the first time and learns first-hand that using her considerable powers can have far reaching and unintended results and thus must be done with the utmost of care.

Rosie’s poignant and gut-wrenching experiences in Carnal make her who she is in Journey Man. Although Carnal is Book 1 of the spin-off series Exiled, it is also essential to Rosie and Glenn’s story in Knights of Black Swan. Don’t miss Rosie’s journey to herself.

Carnal is about Rosie. She is the daughter of Storm and Litha in the original Black Swan series. She is part sex demon, part witch, and part human. She was only born 14 months ago, with all her parents memories, and she can traverse the passes to other realms. She is not a baby, but quickly with in a few months of birth grew into a woman of a guessed physical age of 22. Here in lies the problem, she has the knowledge, the physical body, but not the experience of living. So when her boyfriend/first love does not do what she wants him to do...she runs away.
So how do you mend a broken love? Well you will just have to read. Rosie's coming of age was amazing to read. Also, Carnal is not just the name of a book, but your new book boy friend. Carnal was an amazing character. This is one of the best books I have read hands down. It is my favorite so far in the Black Swan universe. I cried, I laughed,I wanted to scream NO! This book was realistic in actions of the characters to situations. It was a believable read.

I would recommend the black swan series to anyone, but if you are just finding this series or someone gifted you the book no worries. Victoria Danann always gives a lead in of the books so you are not lost and does a wonderful job of intro to immerse you. Each book can be read alone because of this, but honestly I love all the books of the Black Swan and the spin offs. You would not be disappointed to read any of the books by this author.

Victoria Danann has again given us a book with characters that jump off the pages and into our hearts, The world she has created in Exiled is unique, well thought out and exciting.
This story flows swiftly with heart pounding danger, new love and surprises and with heart shattering consequences.
Rosie’s coming of age story left me totally immersed and turning pages at lightning speed, right up to the unexpected and emotional final pages.
Victoria has begun another 5 star series and I cannot wait to read the next book. This has to be one of her best if not THE best book Victoria has ever written. And she has written some spectacular books in the past. This one cannot be missed and I MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND Carnal- Exiled, book 1

One of the most powerful of Ms Danann's books to date...seeing Rosie's growth throughout the story is quite heartwarming and promises to leave the door open for her to capture more greatness. This author has a certain knack to bring out feelings that many would overlook as secondary to lesser characters. The appearance of some of the characters from the Black Swan Knights was simply delightful and added so much depth to the story overall. I can only sigh now as I anxiously awaiting the next segment in Rosie's and the Black Swan Knights' saga.

This book was provided by the author for my honest review.

If you are looking for an author who gives you such emotionally developed characters that you not just lust for them but outright fall in love with them, then Victoria Danann is that writer. "Carnal" will bring you into a world of hybrids and humans and through Rosie (Sir Storm and Litha's daughter) you will experience a coming of age....Bravo, Ms. Danann for giving us this emotional roller coaster ride.....I just needed one of those measure sticks to see if I could ride it....❤️❤️❤️ it!
"I'm not a man, Rosie. I'm a beast."
" A beast who loves you."
Victoria Danann's " Carnal" will take you to a new dimension....a world of hybrids that the Angel Kellareal saved from extermination....it was here that Rosie Storm was placed by her friend, Kellareal, to grow-up a sabbatical of sorts. And it was here that she heals, grows, and falls in love....with one of the Exiled hybrids....Carnal! He will steal your heart and who doesn't like the idea of sitting behind this hunk on the back of a motorcycle.
Ms. Danann has once again given her readers a wonderful story with characters you will want to know more about....come see what world her imagination has created...

I loved this book and the first thought I had when I finished this book was, Ummm. Now Ms Danann has taken me many places and adventures through her books but one thing that she has never been able accomplished until now, is to make me cry. For me parts of this book were very emotional and may have made more of an impression on my mind and heart. I enjoyed meeting the new characters and getting to know some of the old ones better. I can’t wait to see where Ms Danann will take this storyline. This book is a branch off from Ms Danann’s Knights of Black Swan series and is a wonderful beginning to this new series. Now if you want to truly understand all of the story line and the characters you will want to start at the beginning with her book My Familiar Stranger.
I was given this book in Exchange for an honest review.

I love this writer, but I have to say, this book left me wanting more. I wasn’t pleased with the romantic development between the hero and heroine. It never realistic for me. Also, the ending was quite the deal breaker for me. I found it to be quite frustrating. Also, the hero was quite a manwhore before meeting the heroine. I could have done without those details. I don't want to hear about the main characters hooking up with other people. Overall, I didn’t like this book a lot, but I am intrigued enough to move onto to the next book in the series. Maybe the other brothers story will be more promising.

This book was amazing! I already loved Elora Rose Storm (Rosie) from the other books, but this story made me get to know exactly how her mind was, how hard it is to control her special talents and see the world how she sees it. I fell in love with all the new characters as well as old. I felt deep sympathy for what she had to go through. The only regret I have, is that I read it way too fast. I will definitely say that this is now my new favorite from Victoria Dannan! Hands done 5 stars!

Time out for Elora Rose Storm.

Once more Victoria Danann has created a world unlike any other. Her characters are real, they speak to her and if you listen they will speak to you. Rosie Storm turns to her angel friend, Kellareal, asking for a place to stay away from her own dimension. A place where she can become part of the community, make friends and sort out who she is. There are so many things to learn. Rosie has the combined memories of both of her parents but she is only 14 months old. She needs to learn to control the incredible power she has inside her heart and mind. Carnal is a love story, a coming of age story. A story of learning to take responsibility for your actions.
Victoria Danann is a superb storyteller, a master storyteller. Your eyes will burn, your throat will tighten and you will cry, but not to worry you will also laugh being so full of joy you may burst. Carnal may be read as a standalone but I highly recommend that you read the Knights of the Black Swan in the order written. Thank you Victoria for sharing your stories and the people in them with us.

The book is a continuation of Rosie's story from the "The Knights of the Black Swan" series. Rosie left her home dimension with the aid of a friend of her mother's. She winds up being placed with a group of hybrids who call themselves the Exiles.

This book is Rosie's story of her finding maturity. The story takes the reader through a whirlwind of emotions. By the time I finished the novel I was emotionally exhausted. This book is intricate. As always, Victoria puts you through the gambit of situations and emotions that makes the reader feel like they have personally experienced what the characters went through. I highly recommend this book.

Have you ever read a book that has everything that you love about a book in it? I mean everything from humor, to sex, to an event that makes you ugly cry, then makes you smile again??? Well that what the type of book Victoria wrote when she came up with Carnal! I read a lot of books by many different authors but I have to admit that this book has touched my heart. I don't like to post spoilers for other readers because it ruins the experience so I won't do that, but if you want a good book that has a little bit of everything that is well written then may I suggest this book. I am sure you won't be disappointed!

A beautiful bitter sweet story, that left me a Little bereft.

When Rosy had her temper tantrum and decided to run away, Little did she know all that she was about to learn!!!

her journey to adulthood wasn't as easy or as long as anybody else, but she learned thanks to the people that surounded her. but about love and sacrifice Carnal is the one that showed her.

I had the impresión that Rosy was going to end somewhere else, but the ending is something that took me compleatly by surprise.
I actually cried, with sniffles and everything.

I love the way that Victoria Dannon has grown as a writer and the whole progresión of her books.

Defenitely one of my favorite series and authors!

this was an excellent book! there's not many books that I continue to think about after I've finished reading it. usually I just give it a rating, then move on to the next one. I finished this one a few days ago. I still can't get it off my mind. and I'm not ready to move on. Victoria Danann has a way of pulling into her books so much that I feel like I am a part of it. I am happy when they are happy, I laugh when they laugh, I mourn when they mourn... no other author has been able to capture my heart the way Victoria does, and this book, it was icing on my cake.

LOVE LOVED!! What a beautiful tragic coming of age tale! Kudos to Victoria for writing a sweet love story with a twist at the end worthy of me throwing my Kindle at a wall!! Carnal is sexy and cocky - the perfect man for Rosie or so it seems. Rosie`s powers are growing and it`s going to be scary good when she learns to control them ! I cannot wait for the next chapter of her tale. Love Deliverance and Kellareal - just sayin` !!

WOW!!!! Victoria has done it yet again. I was totally sucked into this book, living among the characters. Rosie goes to escape her reality and ends up finding herself. This book hits on all the life lessons, love, loss, war, peace. Grab this book, you will love it. (You may want to grab a box of Kleenex too, just in case. :)

OH MY!!!!!! It's too hard to write anything without giving things away. However, I will say that I understand why the author did what she did. Great start to a spin off series. Victoria Danann is so very creative and I love her books. This one is no exception. And, it all starts with "My Familiar Stranger," Book 1 of the Knights of the Black Swan Series. “…simply being outside a cage is not the same thing as being free.” – Rosie

There are some who would argue that life itself is one big cage and the key to happiness is learning how to work within its confines. I think it’s possible that the worst kind of cages are those we build around ourselves. Whether that be out of fear, perceived necessity or habit. It seems like once we build those cages, we intentionally throw away the key; satisfied to live within our own carefully constructed limits.

That is, until someone comes along, rattles the bars and asks when you’re coming out to play. In this story, that is exactly what Rosie does for the Hybrid clan. She shows up, running from her own newly found constraints and choices and ends up rattling all the cages she can find, including her own.

But she never counted on meeting Carnal. Or his family. Or that she would expand her own definition of family to include them.

Carnal is a pretty typical bad boy. Hot as sin, smooth talking, ruggedly obstinate, capable, physical and utterly alpha. Where he veers off course of the expected, however, is that he’s willing to shed the armor of that position in order to climb into Rosie’s cage with her so they can figure out the view together.

Watching these two come together is familiar only because the author loves to bring characters together in unexpected ways; providing her readers with humor and tantalizing sexiness along the way. But every single character she’s ever written stands on their own, because the skill with which the author crafts personalities on the page is almost unparalleled. She can give you a character that you’re positive you already know, that appears to fit perfectly into a predetermined box and then turn the whole thing upside down, leaving you grateful for the complete change in perspective at the end. Even when it’s heartbreaking. Especially when it’s heartbreaking.

This story is a gorgeous ride on a magical motorcycle into an alternate dimension with characters you already love and new characters you come to adore just as passionately.

And as with all books that Victoria Danann writes, I have to applaud her willingness to go balls out all the way through. I think she wanted to write about what happens when you choose freedom. How profound of a choice that is and the unending ripple effects it will have throughout your life. And we get all of that and more in this book, told with her lyrical, smart, funny, gorgeous way with words.

Don’t forget the fuzzy handcuffs as you gallivant through dimensions with Rosie in this one. You won’t regret it and I promise that your definition of “free” will ring a bit truer by the time you turn the last page.

Victoria Danann has done it again. This is a story that pulls you in and makes you care for each and every character.

Rosie is suffering. She has just broken up with her lover and she realizes it was mostly her own fault even if she won't admit it. She asks her friend Kellareal to find her a place where she can hide out and nurse her wounds. He takes her to a little project of his in another dimension and places her among the Exiled. Their race was about to be destroyed by the humans who had genetically altered and enslaved them and now feared the creatures they had created. Kellareal saved the hybrids from genocide and transported them to another realm. In exchange, the Exiled agreed to protect the humans of that dimension against the more violent hybrids that those humans had created.

The Exiled don't trust humans, any humans. But since they do trust Kellareal, they agree to let Rosie live and work with them. For her part, Rosie promises Kellareal not to reveal her powers. She is only part human. She has much more demon and witch in her.

This story follows her as she tries to earn the trust of the Exiled and to stand on her own for the first time. She learns to see the world through different eyes as she gains wisdom and maturity. She manages to teach her new friends some important things as well.

She also meets Carnal. Oh, my. At first, I wanted her to go back to her old boyfriend, but believe me, Carnal has a way about him. I soon came to love him and the way he treated Rosie. His inner strength and capacity to love are amazing. Typical of Victoria Danann's skill, I swiftly became interested in most of the characters in the book. Carnal's youngest brother Charming was delightful and yes, very charming. I was concerned about his other brother Crave who had been captured by the savage hybrids and his intended mate. Then there was his incredible father, Free who is the leader of the Exiled and had to make difficult decisions about their future.

Filled with romance and danger as well as sorrow and joy, the book asks some difficult questions about trust, race, and freedom. When is it not honourable to keep a promise? Is a little freedom worth another form of bondage? Can one race truly trust another after so many years of hatred and abuse?

This is a wonderful addition to the books. They are best if you read them in order. That way you can truly appreciate the richness and complexity of the characters and the depth of their stories.

I have a confession to make....I have all the Knights of the Black Swan books and have never read any, but now I see why everybody is always praising this series. It is deep, hopeful, tantalizing, so many different words I could use... I love that there are so many different paranormal
in the books, but most especially I love that Ms. Danann gives a little history of the previous books, so that you are not lost in this wonderful, diverse world of the Black Swan...I am going to make a point of reading them all as soon as I can.

Rosie, Storm and Litha's 14 month old daughter whom looks in her 20's, feels betrayed by her lover, so she decides to take a little vacation and is thrust into another dimension in the guise of a human. What she hadn't counted on was feeling so welcome by the Exiled, a people that are Hybrid (human/shifter) created by humans and tortured by the same. But there is a much bigger picture and Rosie figures it out and feels it her duty to help and inform this honorable people of the danger they unknowingly face. In the process Rosie discovers that she possesses powers beyond what she thought, but she must keep them hidden from the Exiled, will she be able to control her impulses in the face of adversities?

Carnal is the oldest son of the Exant, leader of the Exiled and a hybrid known for his prowess with the human women the Exiled are sworn to protect from an evil bunch of hybrids gone bad. When he locks eyes with Rosie, he realizes that no other can compare to the pull he has towards this human. He teaches Rosie the meaning of love while trying to convince her that they are meant to be together. Will Carnal be able to win Rosie while trying to protect the humans and Exiled.

Very deep messages in this story and I can't wait to read the other Knights of the Black Swan stories.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I had a hard time with this one. Ms. Danann is a great story teller and I once again got lost in her latest book and had a hard time putting it down. In fact, I don't think I put it down once I started reading.

Don't get me wrong, this is a good book, great even but I just couldn't get over the ending. It didn't feel like it belonged with the first 90% of the book. Plus there was a cliffie, God do I hate those! But at least we get a good tease as to the next book, which I know I'll pick up the moment it's released. I have to know what happens next!!

Carnal... What can I say about Carnal... Well one thing keeps coming to mind, why oh why can't he be mine?!? He is just what Rosie needs, just when she needs it, and they work as a couple. None of this insta love crap that turns a strong heroine into a wet noddle. Rosie fights the pull until it couldn't be denied..

"Time spent with you is not a waste, Rosie." -Carnal

Not shamed to admit I swooned a bit when he said things like that.

"Of course I'm interested in you." Rosie stopped walking and turned to face Carnal. "You need to stop being interested in me." . . . "I can't just stop being interested. I'm interested. And you need to know that I've never chased after a female before. Ever."

Or that...

Bottom line.. If your a fan of Ms. Danann this is a must read. And if you haven't read any of her books, while this book can be read as a standalone (bonus-there's a little back story of her previous books so those of us that haven't read her books in a while don't have to re-read em to follow along!) I highly recommend reading the Black Swan Collected Tales, Books 1-3 by Victoria Danann collection first. Very good reads!
