Malignaggi launches scathing attack on Pacquiao

More: Mayweather used illegal IV USADA refute Mayweather PED claims

Malignaggi, a long-time Pacquiao critic, made his thoughts known in several tweets posted in the wake of the potentially explosive news.

“I don’t understand what any of this has to do with Pacquiao ducking every single random test from the monster yrs he had from 08 to 12” Malignaggi began.

Pacquiao was the undisputed king for a number of years with devastating wins over, amoung others, Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Antonio Margarito.

Mayweather was retired from the sport for much of this time either side of wins over Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao’s reign as the greatest pound for pound fighter came to an abrupt halt with a farcical loss to Tim Bradley and a brutal knockout defeat to Marquez in 2011.

“Doesn’t make this news right but sure rehydrating after a training camp where on tested randomly throughout is more forgivable than…” Malignaggi continued in the next tweet.

“Outright ducking and running from every random drug test offered during the period in time of one’s career where he’s most devastating.”

As if there was any doubt about what the Brooklynite was talking about, he responded to one dissenter on twitter: “I’m a 34 year old pro athlete that never took a PED so it’s actually age that finishes me.”

Malignaggi has long suspected Pacquiao wasn’t getting by on water and Powerade.

Last year, before the Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight, Malignaggi said: “Floyd would have fought Manny four years ago and would have beaten his ass if he had just agreed to take random drug testing.

"We all know how that went, and I personally think that's the reason why Manny was looking so strong at that time.

“I think now that they're doing the WADA random drug testing, Manny is still a good fighter but I just don't see the same kind of explosiveness.”

Malignaggi has a professional record of 33-7-0 with losses to Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter in his last two bouts.

He is the former IBF junior welterweight and WBA welterweight champion and can boast wins over Zab Judah, Juan Diaz and Lovemore Ndou.
