The Bent Zealots MC #3

A Lone Stranger

Rate this book
Ride on. Ride on.
HARTE: After a world-changing run-in with the guy I thought was my father, I went on the road to find myself. I patched over to The Bent Zealots MC, an out-and-proud club on the Colorado River. A cock virgin, I raced to experience all I could, eagerly sniffing every nook and cranny, a whole new existence offered up by Grindr. But when Ormond Tangier was assaulted by a rival club, I quickly got down to brass tacks, to show my new brothers I was all business.

Too bad that business involves Bond Blackburn, jailbird brother of our Prez, Turk. That guy is so far in denial he’s practically Egyptian. But he even he can’t deny what I saw with my own eyes at the gay club. Sure, I was on my knees paying homage to a Daddy Dom, but Bond can’t pretend he wasn’t getting some oral praise as well. And now they’re telling me I have to work with this hypocrite?

BOND: This club is a fucking joke. How’s a man supposed to make a new start after the joint? First, my own brother forced me to prospect. I couldn’t automatically rise to the top of the heap through my family connections. No, I’m supposed to labor in a noxious sweatshop making product for their pot dispensary. And I have to sneak downtown if I want to get some halfway decent head, because I don’t even want my gay so-called brothers knowing about my shameful hobby.

Now we’re reaching out to the cops to even the score with those Hellfire Nuts who abused Ormond. And that delicious Harte Saxonberg is getting my goat, so by the book, such bleeding heart. I just want to strangle him—or fuck him.

HARTE: I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, one that slab of a man, Bond Blackburn. He kisses me, then punches me. Fucks me, then ignores me. He’s got me so upside-down I’ve lost the clarity I had a week ago when I rode west. Ride west, young man. I could be a steam train if I could just lay down my tracks. But the only name I’m calling out is that sexy convict’s.

Ride on. Ride on.

Publisher’s warning: This book is not for the faint of heart. It contains scenes of gay sex, public play, exhibitionism, illegal doings, vaguely legal marijuana operations, and violence against men. There are no cheating or cliffhangers, and HEAs for all.

HARTE and BOND. Holy bleemin' heck! I'm not even sure where to start and that's not the norm for me when it comes to MC stories since I seem to inhale them faster than dare I say coffee in the morning.. This is completely different to ANY MC book I've read before.

Not only is it an M/M Romance but the writing style is just - PERFECTION - in being able to keep up with the realistic aspect than many previous stories I've read try to sugarcoat so to keep with a wider audience view. Does that make sense? Put differently, I came across so many stories that are great but they often don't meet that level of RAWNESS that I always fall head over heels for.

A LONE STRANGER is one hell of a steamy and intense story.

This is the first M/M book that I've read which is based around the biker world and I am so bloody glad that I was able to be a reader of this creation. I'm not sure if i'll be jumping at the chance to read another M/M book weather MC based or not, I like to stick with my male alphas that claim that girl. It's just my personal preference, nothing else.

Other than that, I absolutely got HOOKED from the very beginning!! The relationship between Harte and BOND? Can you ever describe a relationship as both too steamy and sinful but dark and heartbreaking at the same time?

Insecurity and a certain level of nervousness comes in so many different forms that it can often be overlooked by those who only look at the bigger picture. Bond has yet to come out and dealing with the MC world, especially one that Harte knows from the inside out, can pose to be a road bump. In a way, it served to test out how strong each of the two men's love or attraction were for the other but also how it would influence their mindset when it come to how important other's opinions were when it came to THEM.

I'm not doing a very good job at describing my feelings in how I saw their relationship am I?? Ugh. I knew it was going to be a challenge to write review or do at least a ounce of justice to how much I loved this story. Lone Stranger is simply a must read if you're looking for a story that will get your emotions running and reaching far past the level that you might be used to with a Romance.

Their relationship is only the beginning. I won't mention all the mess that comes with being in a club or no be able to say what you want because you know consequences will follow or whether those consequences are worth risking everything else for. There is so much on around the initial two characters which only add's brownie points to an already addictive story..

RAW.

INTENSE.

DARK.

EMOTIONAL.

NO-SUGARCOATING.

TEARFUL.

ADDICTIVE.

BRILLIANT.

ENGAGING!!

I wasn't expecting to be this connected with two characters who have so much to give to each other but in a way to the reader as well! Bloody hell! At one point I was so engrossed into an argument that Harte was a part of, I nearly threw the Kindle on the wall (it's safe to say that it is not broken, thanks to Bond coming in and saving the near death experience of a freaking kindle..!?).

Layla Wolfe did an amazing job at BALANCING out dark moments with more sexy or humor filled ones. So it's not surprising that my appearance could only be described as a tear stained smiling idiot clutching her heart because.. well because BOND and fucking HARTE who officially has my heart melting all over the place.. If only he played for the other team and wasn't a fictional character at that too. Sigh. A girl can dream right?

A LONE STRANGER far exceeded expectations that were so rutted in thinking that this would be yet other emotionless sexy read. FAR FAR FARRR from it!! I couldn't get enough and whether I was laughing, crying or being angry with them together, this is definitely a story that will stay with me for a little while longer than I ever expected.

It hasn't converted me into reading any more M/M books, but it definitely made me want, no NEED to read every other Layla Wolfe book. Honestly, I don't I have to convince a reader to delve into this one other than simply mentioning that it's going to bloody step all over your emotions but the pain will be worth it. I think. There is always a certain good pain right?? Uhm..

THANK YOU so much Layla Wolfe for this gorgeously sexy ARC that will make me await for every one of your next books!!!! I NEED more HARTE though. Please and thank you ;)

REVIEWING FOR "ONE CLICK AHOLICS BOOK GROUP
4.5-5 stars
Harte ~ He's out and proud and happy to get his needs met with his fix of "grindr".That is until Bond rides in.
Bond ~ Turk's brother, freshly released from prison thinks that he should automatically be a fully patched member of the "Bent Zealots", that is until he finds out that it's a GAY MC Club !! But he has no choice other than to start as a prospect for them as part of his parole conditions. He's not gay, or so he thinks and says. When a fellow club member gets assaulted him and Harte want to seek revenge and we see a softer side to Bond. We see that he has a caring side too when "Fredricka" starts to work at the clubs "weed" shop.
I really did enjoy this story, and how Bond's denial at his sexuality was portrayed. But even though he was in denial he also knew that his reactions towards Harte weren't nothing, and that it was all to do with Harte as a person, not Harte being a man. It had angst, passion, and some seriously smouldering sexy scenes too. Overall a really worthwhile read xx

I love my bikers rough and tough and I love my MM reads passionate but naughty...and with Layla Wolfe's Bent Zealots series, you get it all.
Harte and Bond made an explosive combination...both dealing with issues of their own but finding an undeniable chemistry together that has raw, dirty sex written all over it.
Wolfe does not write flowery, sweet, pretty romance...she writes in your face raunchy and realistic...gay men are a different breed in and out of the bedroom and so a fair warning that this is not for the prudish or easily shocked reader.
I love the mix of family relationships ( a father and son on the outs from betrayal), a young trans teen who has to deal with the harsh realities of how society sees him and the MC's own problems with crooked law enforcement and it all intertwines to make an exciting action packed twisted biker romance book.
Be sure to read the first two books in the series first though, so you know the history of all the players...this is an awesome MM series with bite.

Layla Wolfe has done it again!!
Another fabulous tale of two hot, hunky, horny men of The Bent Zealots MC!
I didn't think I would ever love one of Layla's characters more than I love Locke. I think Harte took that spot. He is sex on a stick with ginger hair on top! He and Bond...so nasty yet so, so good. They were dynamite together!

If you like your M/M with a little denial, lots of comedic relief from the boys in the Club, violence, and dirty sex, this book is for you!

Really good installment in the series. Dirty, with some good action.

The crowd faded away at the edges of Bond’s awareness. He knew someone’s ding-dong was ejaculating onto Harte’s back, and another guy’s joy knob was spewing seed onto Bond’s.

Dirty talk was okay…but the Ding-dong completely took me out of the story. I had to giggle for several mins before I go on.

Kinda sweet at the end. But most of it was rough and raunchy. Loved it.

The third installment in the series brings us two characters that first meet outside the Bent Zealots Chapel. One is coming to join in after leaving the Bare Bones club in his rearview, the other is arriving for “babysitting” after an early release from a bid for Bank Robbery offers him a new opportunity. My favorite, so far, for the honest struggles of the characters that set up their own growth and development.

Harte has always believed that Leo was his father, and now that many of the members he’d known since childhood were under investigation as Leo was working to save his own skin, he’s needing a change of scenery. Not to mention that he’s discovering his own sexuality, and in the Bare Bones, as it has developed, being gay just isn’t cool.

Bond is Turk’s biological brother, even as they were separated after their parents were killed by a drunk driver. We know that Turk’s life with the Illuminatis wasn’t great, but Bond’s life was full of fighting, foster homes and rejection: all the while he believed his brother got a “Leave it to Beaver” existence. Fresh out of prison and with a chip on his shoulder the size of a potato field (with tractors), Bond is expecting to roll into the Bent Zealots clubhouse and take over – brother or no brother.

Wolfe has taken two very disparate characters here and given them both time to grow and develop. Bond starts out completely terrified, always on the offensive, expecting people will see inside his head and realize he’s worthless. Oh – and we won’t even mention his extreme (can anyone say ‘he doth protest too much’) homophobia. Imagine his surprise when he sees that the Zealots are predominantly gay, and have already given him two steps up the ladder, to prospect. On the other hand, Harte is a known entity to the club, and while not settled in his identification of a gay man (he’s still working on his genre) he’s at least honest with himself and others, and eager to see what will come. He’s the eager puppy in this book – honest, loving, kind-hearted and adorable, even when he’s wrong.

While the opportunity to take a small side-mission in retaliation for a horrific attack on Ormond appears, the whole gang of ‘outsiders’, with mindful tech geek Twinkletoes as watcher, set off on a mission that could bring the full force of retaliation down on the club. Add in the two teenaged Navajo boys rescued from near slavery in the last book, and a new member of the shatter crew in the two-spirited Fredericka and the story is full of moments that shine.

What emerges is a story that, above all, celebrates self-acceptance and awareness, showing the power of friendship and love in making things better than they were. Foul language, often rough and raw emotions and plenty of balance checks to be sure no-one is believing the less than truthful utterances, these characters are real, honest and completely lovable. Eventually.
Humor adds to the story, with some appropros yet wholly original pithy moments.
“You’re gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide “ and “as confused as a chameleon in a bag of Skittles” that lighten the mood and keep me intrigued for the next in the series.

I received an eBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I really freaking loved it. Ever since readings Sax's story and learning about his son, I couldn't wait to read Harte's story. He is newly out of the closet and and hoping to have a great life but he can't since he is still hurting from his 'father' betrayal on the club. His new life is to leave the Boners to become a Zealots. I dont remember if I read about Turks brother before in either of the Boners early storylines or in his own one but we see Turks jailed brother needing a place to be for is parole, talk about a confused man. He thought that since his brother was Prez that he can be veep automatically then knock his brother down, he was dreaming big to damn fast but was funny to see him put in his place as a prospect. Another rival club is at it again and poor Ormond was at the receiving end of their hate and only a few people know and started a mini feud but we now has even a very disgusting perverted cop getting working with the rivals and is pissed off Ormond is off the market. There will be denial, confusion, newcomer in the wrong body, revenge, and so much most just hold on to your saddle for the intense ride of these club brothers, yes twinkletoes is in most of this story for all his fans, even throwing his laptop onto a bashing.

A Lone Stranger is the 3rd book in The Bent Zealots MC series and I think each of these books have just gotten BETTER & BETTER! A Lone Stranger is my favorite so far. This book is HOT, HOT, HOT! Of course that is my opinion.

This is Bond Blackburn & Harte Saxonberg’s story. Bond is in denial about being gay. He talks about hooking up a lot of males but, tells everyone else that he isn’t gay. As per my usual review I leave it up to the Author to write the Synopsis.

I like to include the warning in my review that the author has so that if you don’t like this type of book don’t bother opening it and reading it.

Publisher’s WARNING: This book is not for the faint of heart. It contains scenes of gay sex, public play, exhibitionism, illegal doings, vaguely legal marijuana operations, and violence against men. There are no cheating or cliffhangers, and HEAs for all.

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. But, I also got this book from Kindle Unlimited and will complete it so the author might be able to get a little money and a verified review from me.

4,5/5

I love this series. Its fun and an enjoyable read. I really have enjoyed reading this series of The Bent Zealots MC. Its dark, gritty and sexy. This is the third book in this series. I really liked the characters of Bond and Harte they were both very interesting and rough they both came from different situations. Bond is the brother of Turk who is the Pres of The Bent Zealots. Bond is starting out fresh and thinks the club is a joke at first until he meets Bond. Harte is on a mission to try and find out who he is and which way he should go. These guys don't mess around they are very unique toward each other. This series rocks! Can't wait to read more from Layla Wolfe.

This was such an awesome read!!! I was looking forward to reading Harte's story and it did not disappoint.. Being newly out, he is on a discovery of finding that special someone to spend his life with. Enter Turk’s brother, Bond…a super sexy man “in denial. There is action, adventure, denial and oh yes…plenty of sex!!! The way Layla Wolfe writes, she puts the reader into the action and they can feel the emotions of her characters…I loved this installment and highly recommend it to others. Brave Miss Layla…I can’t wait until the next one is out!!!

I've been lucky enough to read all three of Layla Wolfe's Bent Zealots MC series and this was probably my favourite. A Lone Stranger follows Harte and Bond as they explore their sexuality and their new life as the new guys in the Bent Zealots club. The book reads really well and is very nicely paced which kept me as a reader engaged and routing for the characters. If you like MC books and MM then read this you won't be disappointed, I look forward to seeing where Layla takes this series and can't wait for the next installment.

Another gritty, down and dirty story in the Bent Zealots series.

Harte and Bond, the heroes, were not instantly likeable but as their characters were fleshed out I began to root for them.

Layla Wolfe writes realistic fight scenes...and the sex is pretty hot too!

Behind all the action though we have two men struggling to come to terms with what life has thrown at them, and their own nature. Both men do come to terms and the that we believe in them is testament to the writing skills of the author.

OMG I LOVED THIS!!!!!!!!!
You know how much I loved Sax's story. Harte, hot by the way, is trying to come to terms with coming out of the closet, wanting and needing what everyone else has, love, commitment, compassion, acceptance, a soulmate, a family of his own. Still struggling with his father's hurt, Harte goes to another club, and mayhem, hate, confusing, revenge is what he's dealing with. This was an exciting ride.....

Great story about two special men – Harte (out and proud) and Bond (new prospect, just out of prison and supposedly straight … yeah, right!)

Great to see these two sexy men and grow to not just lust, but love. Smooth writing. Great character growth especially for Bond who goes from denial of his sexuality to acceptance.

Great MC book with all the accompanying grittiness! Seriously HAWT!!!!! Recommended!!!

I absolutely adored this story. Charge and Bond had so much in common, but so many differences too. It was great that they had so many people to help them with their needs. It was awesome how they came together to help Ormond and Fredericka even though they could have gotten into sever trouble or even killed.

Another winner !

I loved this story . Harte is my favorite and I'm glad he finally got his story. Poor Harte finding out about his (dad) betrayal, he's feeling angry and lost and finds a place to feel at home and love with Bonds . They make a great couple. Great job .

Bond Blackburn is out of prison on parole and he has nowhere to go except to the Bent Zealot MC .

Bond was in prison for Bank robbery and though he identified as straight. He freely admitted, to himself alone, that he preferred men to give him oral sex. Since it went no farther than that, he wrote it off as a harmless hobby, not gay in any way. Now, he is out and in a situation arranged by his PO. When he is brought to the club, he is flabbergasted to learn he must prospect instead patching right in, and he truly exploded when he learns it is a gay MC. Then, he lays eyes on Harte Saxonberg. He falls into instant lust, but Bond is a tough customer... He is straight! Harte has just come out and though he tells Bond that he should tell the club he is gay, but not out, Bond refuses. Harte and Twinkletoes, his sponsor, just shake their heads, waiting for the inevitable crash.

Spoilers and triggers ahead. DNF almost towards the end of the book. The two main characters were getting off while Bond told a story about his first time with a man, his foster dad at the age of 12! He called it consensual and talked about how the foster dad called him son. A twelve year old cannot consent! Telling the story wasn’t the issue but they were getting off on it. That’s disturbing. The story wasn’t great, but okay enough before that. Two stars for the first part rather than the one I almost gave it.

Denying the inevitable

Bond is a tough no nonsense guy. He has had a few hookups in jail but denies he is gay. When he comes out on probation he is seconded to his brother Turks gay MC. He struggles to admit that he likes men when a face of an angel comes into view Harte. Harte is recently out and to feel justified with who he is becomes a Bent Zealot. It is instant lust and hate. A brilliant book.

A Lone Stranger: Bent Zealots

Bond started out like a jerk but I began to see him differently as the story became more involved.
Harte was a sweetheart from the beginning, two complete opposites wanting the same thing.
I am really getting into this series and recommend it to other avid readers who enjoy good writing.

**I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review**

For me personally, this wasn't really a 4 star, but it was definitely more than 3 stars, so I'm rounding up.

This book tells the story of a newly out biker, Harte, who has left Arizona and the MC he grew up in, to go to a new MC formed by an associate Turk... this MC however, is gay. Harte is embracing his outness, meeting up with guys from Grindr, pronouncing himself a power bottom, despite the fact that the only sexual experience he has had has been giving blow jobs to an MC brother. Harte comes off as a bit young, perhaps "naïve" though that's not quite the correct word... having "over-machismo" is probably more appropriate.

Bond, on the other hand, is a parolee just released from prison and thanks to his PO, he is being sent to Turk's (his brother) MC. As a character, I had a harder time relating to him. He was deep in denial, arrogant, and he was an ass... when I finally started liking him, the book was over.

The main conflict in the book was not between the characters, but rather it was set in motion by an attack against another MC member. Between Harte and Bond, there was the "dance". "Oh, he's hot, I want him... I'm not gay, but if he just sucks my c&%k it won't change anything," and then something similar from Harte, without the "I'm not gay" piece. All the actions seemed to be going on, but how the couple actually drew together was a bit lacking.

Some of this could be the language used. At one point, I thought "stud" was being used too much, but in truth, it was only used 12 times in the story. So, I'm counting that as my own issue, not the story's. I felt like the author was trying to get away from the "traditional" MM romance lingo, and overcompensated a bit.

All that being said, it was an entertaining read. Less sex than I'd been expecting. I did have to suspend belief a bit (I have a hard time believing that a PO would walk the parolee through a bar to get to a meeting. There were lots of guns and alcohol, where those are two of the big NOs for parolees, though it is mentioned that the PO is taking an alternative tactic).

My first read by this author, and it was worth it... I may need to go back and read Ormond's story, because he was my favorite character (along with Fredericka).

You know when you’ve come across an accident and you know you shouldn’t look but you can help yourself? You keep looking knowing you may discover something you should not have but you keep looking because you just have to know? That’s what The Bent Zealots MC series is turning into for me. Still unsure if that’s a good or a bad thing but I know my curiosity keeps me coming back for more. A Lone Stranger is the latest entry to this gay MC series.

ARGH! I want to take the two main characters and shake them. Let’s start with Harte. He’s a hard character to not like. He has a big heart (no pun intended) and seriously why he is in a MC. He’s out and proud and is trying his best to lose his gay virginity. He I laughed quite a bit over his thoughts and antics. On the flip side his enthusiasm sometime is too much. Like a puppy that pees when the doorbell rings…and it’s Halloween. Bond (the hypocrite!) on the other hand was one giant irritant to me. Screaming he’s not gay one minute and the next thing you know he’s in a truck stop getting a ‘impromptu knob job’. Both have family issues they are dealing with. Both want to join up with the Zealots although Harte doesn’t have to start at the bottom as a Prospect, which irks Bond off to no end. Yes, I want to shack them but they are obviously perfect for each other.

Their ‘courtship’ aside, A Lone Stranger made for entertaining reading. Their out to get revenge on Ormond attacker before Anson finds out. Along for the ride is Twinkletoes, who feels very much a straight man to the craziness Bond and Harte find themselves in. Still a lot of harsh, vulgar language and violence to be had. In addition, let’s not forget the endless amounts of metaphors spouted. Sometimes I wasn’t too sure if I was supposed to take the whole book seriously of was it all meant to be tongue in cheek either way, Layla Wolfe’s A Lone Stranger made for a interesting read.

I received this book free from the author in return for an honest review.

I gave this book a 4.5 stars and I’m not really sure why I didn’t go with a full 5 stars. I wasn’t aware when I signed up to review this book that it was the third in a series and there are two companion series with multiple books out as well. That being said, A Lone Stranger read like it could have been a stand alone. There are characters that cross over from the other books by Wolfe, but nothing that leaves the reader feeling lost or not enough to give away what happens in the other books. Even though I don’t feel lost or confused from this story, I will be picking up more of her work. OMG addicting.

I like to challenge myself to read outside my comfort zone and to step into genres I didn’t think I would like very much, but I have found that m/m isn’t a genre I hide from and throw in a little motorcycle love and I’m all there. The beginning of the book set up the main characters in the first two chapters (1 for each) and then we were off and running with no turning back allowed. There was a disclaimer for some triggers, with made me nervous, but nothing set me off. The scenes that were flagged were gritty and deep, but nothing to the point that it bothered me; Wolfe got the point across and set the scene, but not so much that it was distasteful.

Bond is this hulking thing of a man, fresh out of prison, and straight as noodle. He’s really sure he is straight - completely (dry noodle) - until certain situations were he likes the way men do it better (boiled noodle). Harte is a ginger with some piss and vinegar, but also a kind soul. The two together work for me and I love that Bond goes all wet noodle for Harte. It doesn’t take away from the badass-ness of either of them and they work together well. Not too cheesy, gritty, or sappy.

Even though this book was about Bond and Harte, it gave me a soft spot for a few of the other characters who just happen to have books already out. This won’t be the only Layla Wolfe book I’ll be reading.
