What are the Canada Games?
Winnipeg, Manitoba will host the Canada Summer Games July 28 – August 13, 2017. Featuring 16 sports, over 250 events and a major cultural festival, the 2017 Canada Games will welcome over 4,000 athletes and coaches and more than 20,000 visitors. Celebrating the Games’ 50th anniversary and Canada’s 150th birthday, the Canada Games are this country’s largest multi-sport event for young athletes.

The successful operation of the Canada Summer Games will require the participation of over 500 leadership volunteers for planning purposes, and an additional 5 500 volunteers for Games time implementation.

Is there a criteria for becoming involved with the Canada Games?

The conditions of leadership volunteer roles with the 2017 Canada Summer Games include the following expectations:

- You are currently involved in Manitoba's community
- You can commit to a minimum of 5 to 10 hours per month to perform committee duties
- You are willing to attend monthly meetings or participate by tele/video conferencing
- You will be prepared and participate in committee meetings
- You will be available, where possible/when needed and are accessible and approachable
- You are able to accept tasks and volunteer for functions which further the strategic direction of the Games

*Leadership volunteers may be subject to a Criminal Reference/Child Abuse Registry Check*
How much time would I have to commit?
- One year commitment leading up to the Games
- Must be in Winnipeg (or assigned location) during Games time July 28th - August 13, 2017

*Time commitment will increase closer to time of the Games*
