LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles casino employee has been arrested for stealing gaming chips, state police said.

Sgt. James Anderson spokesman for Louisiana State Police Troop D said the LSP Gaming Enforcement Division received information from surveillance agents with L'Auberge Casino Resort concerning a Golden Nugget employee exchanging Golden Nugget casino chips for L'Auberge chips.

After agents observed 52-year-old Cindy Thompson a Golden Nugget blackjack dealer placing chips into her apron multiple times, security officers detained Thompson until troopers arrived.

Thompson, of Lake Charles, later admitted to taking chips during her shift and showed where she hid them. Thompson stole at least $1,000 in chips, according to Anderson.

Troopers arrested Thompson and booked her for felony theft. Bond was set at $5,000.
