TV Article 'Ghostbusters': Hi-C Ecto Cooler returning to shelves By Devan Coggan Devan Coggan Devan Coggan (rhymes with seven slogan) is a senior writer at Entertainment Weekly. EW's editorial guidelines Published on April 25, 2016 03:21PM EDT When Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters movie hits theaters this summer, expect to see plenty of callbacks to the original film, including proton packs, the Ecto-1, and, of course, Slimer. But Ghostbusters nostalgia will also be making its way to store shelves soon, as The Coca-Cola Company announced today that it is officially reviving the beloved Hi-C Ecto Cooler. The original slimy green drink launched in 1987 as a tie-in to The Real Ghostbusters animated series, and even though the show went off the air in 1991, Coca-Cola continued to sell Ecto Cooler until it was discontinued in 2001. Fifteen years later, the drink is officially back for a limited time. The new Hi-C Ecto Cooler, which will be sold in packs of 6-ounce juice boxes or 11.5-ounce aluminum cans, will go on sale on May 30. The cans are printed with thermal ink that turns green when cold. When the Ghostbusters reboot was first announced, fans almost immediately started lobbying for Ecto Cooler’s return, and Feig himself teased an announcement back in February. Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15.
