I received an ARC from Netgalley! This was an absolutely beautiful story about two people with truly tragic backgrounds & the ways they find to deal with their pasts & learn to move forward in their lives. Hunter hasn't been able to forget the women he rescued on the side of the road all those months ago. And when she happens to move in next door he is determined to show Evangeline that not all men are like her soon to be ex-husband. But he has a secret that may ruin everything. Will his angel be able to see past it to the man he is? Evangeline isn't interested in having another man in her life. Or at least that' what she tells herself. But she soon finds that maybe there are parts of herself that are not completely uninterested in the gorgeous cop that lives next door. But can she ever open up enough to really let a man back into her life? Will she give Hunter a chance? If you are looking for a sweet read with just the right amount of spice, this is the book for you!!!

Marquita Valentine writes to die for romances. Her stories are full of courageous characters as they make their way through hurdles obstructing the path to their happiness. Her broad range of stories can sometimes be tough to wrap the mind around or take on a life of their own but they always grab the attention. After We Fall is a story of darkness and anguish that shows the tenacity of the human spirit. Eve is the one woman who stirs something in Hunter - emotion. With a face that is hard to forget she has wiggled her way into his brain and took siege of his heart. Having lived most of her adult life in fear, Eve finally is getting the chance to make a fresh start away from the violence and suffering that have been her constant companions. Her past fresh in her mind she sets about making a brighter future for herself without making the same mistakes. I received a copy of After We Fall by Marquita Valentine through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This story has left an indelible mark. It's hard to fathom just how mean spirited and evil some people are. After We Fall is not poor pitiful me story, it is one of bravery, that stays on the mind and grabs onto the heart. Inspirational and unforgettable.

A powerful story of learning to trust and find love again. The story deals with domestic abuse, which both characters have been part of. It is told in a dual point of view. I really felt for both characters, and how they learned to move on. I also fell in love with Jake. I highly recommend this story.
