Magnitude-5 quake shakes Ilocos Norte, aftershocks possible

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook Ilocos Norte at 8:56 p.m. Sunday, with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology warning of possible aftershocks.

PHIVOLCS said that the quake was tectonic in origin, and its epicenter was 6 kms southeast of Batac in Ilocos Norte. No damage was expected.

The quake was felt at:

Intensity IV: Vigan and Santa, Ilocos Sur; Paoay, Ilocos Norte
Intensity III: Sarrat, Ilocos Norte; Baguio City; Abra; Ballesteros, Cagayan
Intensity II: Tuguegarao, Apayao and Aparri
Intensity I: Dagupan City
