There are two aspects of SEO your roofing company should be focusing on when trying to rank in Google Maps and organic search listings. These are on-page SEO and off-page SEO. Take a look at your roofing contractor's website to determine if it needs work in these areas.

So what is on-page SEO? Essentially, it's on-site content creation that incorporates your roofing contractors' keywords and local city and state.

  • The Title tag, on each page should include your service and the target city (except the homepage, which should include your business's name)
  • Meta description, which describes your page to encourage clicks from the search page
  • H1 header, which should include the service on each page
  • URLs, which should contain the keyword for each sub-page
  • Alt tags should be included for all your images
  • Internal links need to link to proper pages and 301 link redirects need to be added so you don't confuse Google and lose link juice
  • Schema markup for roofing contractors
  • Add H2 and H2 to your content and break up your content into 'bite size' pieces for each section
  • Having super fast servers for hosting also places a large role in how Google serves up your content in the organic ranks
  • Having an SSL (secure socket layering) certificate also plays a vital role in how Google ranks your website


For your content, you'll want to include at least 1000 words on each page. That copy should describe your service and make a case for why your business is the best choice for that service.
