  1. 3rd Party Apps

Hello! Lately I've seen a lot of confusion regarding 3rd party apps. So I took the liberty of emailing Support to find direct answers. Shoutout to Ruby and Ellie for answering my questions!

DISCLAIMER: This is a pretty long read, and is only meant to be informational for those who don't have a concrete idea regarding the 3rd Party App rules.

Before we continue, I did in fact ask for permission to post our conversation here in forums before even making this thread and Ruby agreed to let me post it. So let's begin.

    Rules of ToU/RoC

According to the ToU/RoC, players may not solicit personal account information for 3rd party apps (that are not created by ATA) in public channels. Players are also forbidden from advertising 3rd party apps.

    What does this mean?
It simply means you CANNOT ask for or provide account information on walls, in world chat, or in public forums. You are also not allowed to invite people to join you on said apps.
**NOTE** Players MAY mention 3rd party apps WITHOUT suffering an account penalty, so long as advertisement or exchange of account info is not taking place.

    Examples

Jane Doe: Follow me on Tweetergram, my username is janedoe##
-Jane Doe has broken the 3rd Party App Rule because she provided her personal account info on an app that wasn't created by ATA.

John Doe: Does anyone have Kikbook?
-Shame on you John Doe! You violated the ToU by soliciting 3rd party app info. Tsk tsk.

Jane Doe: Hey guys, check out this cool app called "Clash of Clubs."
-Jane Doe apparently hasn't learned her lesson; she's advertising a 3rd party app that wasn't developed by ATA. Sad face to you, Jane Doe!

John Doe: Hey guys, remember when Jane posted those turtle memes on Linear?
-Look at John Doe, all grown up! After being silenced the first time, he read the ToU. In this scenario, a 3rd party app was mentioned but wasn't advertised; nor was account information being exchanged. Therefore, John Doe can walk away unharmed from the Silence/Ban Hammer 

    Why is this important?

Well the most obvious reason this is important is to prevent silences and bans. The more knowledge you have about the rules, the less likely you'll suffer an account-related consequence.
Another reason is mostly for internet safety. In the ToU, ATA has stated
"A Thinking Ape is not responsible for, nor does it guarantee the accuracy or integrity of, the content(s) of any linked site or any link contained in a linked site, or any changes or updates to such sites. The inclusion of any link does not imply that A Thinking Ape endorses or accepts any responsibility for the content on such third-party site."

So with that said, ATA isn't responsible for anything that occurs on a 3rd party app. ATA doesn't condone sharing account info on said apps, but if you decide to do so privately, make sure you maintain security. NEVER give out your passwords or you real life location (to name a few things you shouldn't do), for your own safety.

    Prize Spinner Feature

So many people are complaining that ATA is breaking it's own rules, and they're being unfair and the world is going to end; etc etc. I took it upon my self to talk with support about the issue, and here's the answer I received.

Unfortunately, my second question about an updated ToU wasn't answered. However, fear not, citizens of PimD! You might not always find the updates to the rules in the ToU itself, and ATA prefaces the ToU by including the following portion:
A Thinking Ape reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, update, add, or remove portions of the Terms of Use at any time, with or without notice to you. Please check these Terms of Use periodically for changes. Your continued use of Party In My Dorm after the posting of any changes to the Terms of Use means that you have accepted those changes.

Well that's pretty much all there is to it. Hope you find the thread helpful, and if I missed anything or if you'd like to add your own ideas feel free to add them below. Thanks! 
