NEW YORK (AP) — An attorney for DMX said the rapper has recovered after he was resuscitated by police outside Yonkers, New York hotel on Monday.
Murray Richman said Tuesday that the artist, whose given name is Earl Simmons, is out of the hospital.
Yonkers Police Detective Lt. Patrick McCormack said officers responded to a Ramada Inn, where they found a 45-year-old man with no pulse in the parking lot. McCormack said privacy laws prevented him from identifying the man, but that the man was given an opioid reversal medication by paramedics.

Richman confirmed his client had stopped breathing, but Richman said he did not know the cause. Richman said the rapper suffers from asthma.
McCormack said the man resumed breathing after officers performed CPR and gave him oxygen.

Specifically, you might remember his 2010 single "Better Run Run!, a diss track response to Jay-Z for some lines Jay made making light of Hammer's financial difficulties in the 1990s. It's unlikely that HOVA was very upset about it but that doesn't matter to us because Hammer remains a Bay Area treasure.

Hip-hop's greatest supergroup continues to churn out hits and albums, including a super-special-limited-edition of what's reported to be their final album together, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. It's so special, they're only making one copy that they'll then auction off. But rest assured that in the Internet Age the album will find its way into your earholes, just as O.D.B. would want it.

MF Doom is probably the most enigmatic rapper on this list and that's saying something. Having rapped under many names and collaborated with even more rappers, he's most known for wearing a mask based on comics villain Doctor Doom while performing. He's also been rumored to have occasionally taken advantage of the mask by hiring others to perform in his place. Like I said: enigmatic.
Alongside Public Enemy, the trio of De La Soul was one of the most influential rap groups of the 1990's, including their landmark debut album Three Feet High And Rising. The trio - Pasemaster Mase, Posdnuos, and Trugoy The Dove - have continued to release albums and singles even as the band hasn't matched the critical and commercial success of that debut. Though the "Gangsta Rap" genre would make most of the headlines and record sales int the mid- and late-1990's, De La Soul's mixing of hip-hop with funk and psychedelia still made a significant impact on hip-hop.

From being seen as a threat to police to playing a cop on TV, it's been an interesting ride for Ice-T. The song "Cop Killer" from his heavy metal band Body Count caused quite a ruckus upon its release in 1992 but by the year 2000 he was playing a cop on Law & Order: SVU. He hasn't released a proper hip-hop album since 2006 but Body Count released their latest just last year.

As recent renunion shows have shown, Chuck D hasn't lost a step and the group's politically powerful music hasn't lost its punch. The group, which includes Flavor Flav (55), last released an album in 2012.

After building an influential legacy in the 1980's and 1990's, LL Cool J has shifted more towards acting (NCIS: Los Angeles, host of the Grammy Awards) than music though he's still producing albums. Of course, maybe he would have been better off not participating in the cringe-inducing "Accidental Racist" with country crooner Brad Paisley in 2013, but it's nothing a listen to his famed MTV: Unplugged performance can't make you forget.

The provocative Lil Kim has also been followed around by controversy. She wound up spending a year and a day in prison for lying to grand jury during the investigation into a shooting that stemmed from her feud with Foxy Brown. Despite some early success with Leaders of the New School, Rhymes busted (sorry) on to the scene with his 1995 single, "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check." His newest album, E.L.E.2, is supposed to pick up where his third album Extinction Level Event left off. It was also supposed to be released last year but, as is hip-hop tradition, it's been delayed a few times and is due sometime in the future.

Another in a long line of New Orleans rappers, Mannie Fresh hasn't had a whole lot of solo output but his biggest successes have come as part of the duo Big Tymers and as a producer.

Starting his career in the early 1990's with Organized Konfusion, Monch has since released a handful of well-reviewed if commercially modest albums, including 2014's PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. A combination of a unique rapping style and socially conscious lyrics have made Monch something of an underrated favorite among hip-hop fans.

The founder of No Limit Records, Master P actually started the label out in the Bay Area before moving back to his hometown of New Orleans. There, No Limit flourished with a roster of rappers including Soulja Slim, Silkk the Shocker (his younger brother) and Mystikal. Later, Snoop Dogg also released music through No Limit, as did Master P himself, releasing several commercially successful albums and singles including, "Make 'Em Say Uhh!" The label eventually went bankrupt but Master P came back with the New No Limit label and returned with a 2013 album, The Gift, his first in eight years.
