Academic Awards Keep Coming for 2014-15 Athletic Teams

ADA – East Central University's student-athletes continue to be recognized for their academic accomplishments during the 2014-15 season.  The ECU volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for Academic Excellence and two members of the ECU men's basketball team were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2014-15 Honors Court.

Juniors Jefferson Ocoro and Reed Johnson were both named to the NABC Honors Court for 2014-15, which recognizes student-athletes that have reached a junior or senior academic standing and have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.  This year over 1,000 student-athletes from over 350 college and universities were honored, with four coming from schools in the Great American Conference.

The volleyball team was also part of a record setting 752 teams from the AVCA to earn the 2014 Academic Excellence honor.  The award honors collegiate and high school teams that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA.
