8 Things We Already Know About the Long-Awaited Friends Reunion

Ever since Friends ended its decade-long reign on Thursday night TV back in 2004, the world has been dying for a reunion. Now, more than a decade later, it seems we finally have our wish. Entertainment Weekly reported that the entire cast will reunite in February, as part of a very special TV event on NBC. Of course, we've gotten mini Friends reunions in the past — like when Jennifer Aniston linked up with Matthew Perry in 2013 and joined Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2014 — but we haven't really seen all six members of the squad in one place since the show ended. Keep reading for all the details we've received on the upcoming reunion, then remember all the moments that made you love the show in the first place.

We Finally Got the First Teaser of the Event!

NBC released a mini teaser trailer, showing footage of the actual event. It's short, but positively scintillating!

The Reunion Will Occur as Part of a 2-Hour Special

Sadly, the event is not exactly dedicated specifically to Friends. The special will air in celebration of James Burrows, a comedy director who also helmed such historic TV shows as Taxi, The Bob Newhart Show, and Cheers. The occasion? To commemorate Burrows filming his 1,000th episode of television.

The Whole Cast WAS Set to Appear . . .

NBC chief Robert Greenblatt had high hopes of wrangling all of the original Friends cast members. "I’m hoping all six will be in same room at same time. I’m not sure we can logistically can pull it off."

. . . But Matthew Perry Has a Prior Engagement

Since the news of the reunion broke, Matthew Perry revealed that he's starring in a play in London, called The End of Longing. Too bad there will be no end to our longing for a Friends reunion.

Perry Will Still Be Involved, Though, in Some Capacity

According to reports, Perry will still tape a segment to air as part of the special, so he'll technically make an appearance as part of the reunion.

David Schwimmer Doesn't REALLY Consider It a Reunion

David Schwimmer recently attended FX's TCA panel, where he was asked to address the reunion. He thought the term was "completely inaccurate" and elaborated, saying, "I mean, in no way is it a Friends reunion when one member is out of the country." Good point.

In Any Case, Matt LeBlanc Is Very Excited

That's right, he tweeted about it after the news broke, saying it "should be a good time."
