Ryker Powers was the biggest prick I’d ever met.

He was also my biggest mistake.

He’d taken what he wanted then left, and I detested him for it. Not that the jerk had cared to stick around long enough to know how I felt.

Everyone thought he was a perfect gentleman with all his quiet intensity but I knew better.

I knew he had a filthy mouth. That he liked things dirty.

He may have had people fooled into thinking he was a nice guy but I knew exactly who he was.

He was a bad boy who’d ask for a light from the devil himself.

And I wanted to see him burn.

Until I realized—to my utter horror—that what I really wanted was him.

Who was going to get burned now?

Jesus, this was bad.
Fucking Fangirls. They even diss this while giving it 4 stars.
What. The. Fuck. Ever.

This is what I get when I trust Zo's recommends. You'd think I'd know my sis-in-law better by now.

The writing is the only reason why I was able to finish this. And honestly, it wasn't that great. I think finishing it was more likely a case of being caught in the headlights of a TSTL heroine. Sometimes you're like the deer and bad shit happens.

NA/College man-ho trope. I don't know why I even read these. College was never this full of BS for me and mine. And we were artists, actors, and writers. Trust me, divas, ONS, and intrigue fucking abounded, but this level? *eye-roll*

A ONS w/ the H/h (h has liked the H for 2 years) leads to her seeing another OW leave his flat the very next morning. Mind you, she has them married with babies and picket fences already. Should have stopped there. Then the h sleeps with H again, like a day or two later. And maybe even other OW later on, I can't remember.

Just skip this one safety gang.

You know what, I am really not a fan of these Powers boys. Ryker was so rude, so demeaning, and frankly, so incredibly uncaring to Frankie. I was pissed at her friends for continuing to push her towards Ryker because what the hell kind of friend would encourage someone to be with a person who is that awful!!? Ryker literally did NOTHING redeeming until the very end of the book when he takes her out for dinner. After all the shit he pulled, she gets one dinner. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?! I have never considered myself a feminist, but this girl made me want to choke her in the name of women everywhere. Ugh.

Reading this I kept thinking that Frankie (Francesca) was a bit lame always just hanging her heart on her sleeve and Ryker not really liking her. I was while reading this book that I'm gonna give this a 3 star or maybe a 4 star, but not higher than that because I thought she should have made him work for it a bit more. But the reason why I gave this 5 was because of the Epilogue. If you've read the previous books in the series you know it is all from the female POV and then the guys have their POV in the Epilogue.

I love the Epilogues of this series. I highly recommend that if you feel you will put this down and shelve as DNF that you read the Epilogue and your faith in men will be restored.

Suffice to say I'm a little sad that this series is at an end (unless of course there are more Powers brothers? I don't think there are.)

Sadly, I think I'm done with this author. I liked Gable but was disappointed with Loch. However, I thought I'd try again with Ryker...but that was a mistake. NA doesn't normally appeal to me because the characters are more like stupid high schoolers who have the maturity of 12 year old kids! And it just gets really annoying after a while. However, I actually enjoy the way Harper Bentley writes. Maybe if her characters were more mature and acted like...I don't know...adults, then maybe I would read something else of hers.

Ryker is a manwhore (I have come to realise that a NON-manwhore hero doesn't exist in NA and is against the rules) when a ONS of his, Frankie (who has been obsessing about him for two years) comes on to his radar. There is the usual thing of him hooking up with someone else after her and she catches him...blah blah blah...and then she tries to make him jealous and tells him she hates him but 2 seconds later goes home with him...y'know...usual shit for NA. But when you have a heroine is so utterly stupid (i.e. constantly puts herself out there with the hero knowing she will be hurt and then being surprised when she actually is) and a hero who has no fucking self control, the story just becomes boring and unappealing. Even the epilogue couldn't save this one (I just skimmed it and it was just meh).

ok, this one is hard to rate for me ... the beginning was a bit slow and I really had difficulties with Francesca, because ... come on: she lusted after him for 2 years and in her head he was the future father of her babies ... that is a bit far-fetched for me

but the story turned out to be better and better. I really liked how this developed and the neighbour was a hoot! Loved her.

the epilogue was nice but did not totally satisfy my need to know more about Ryker. I think this book would have profited from a dual POV.

so therefore, although it is a good read half a star off because of the lacking Ryker perspective

by the way: I love the cover

I dont know why it took me so long to read this story I was hooked from the first chapter. I loved the characters and the banter oh man look out. The events that took place in the story love, laughs, fights, heartache was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was how short the story felt and the ending I felt like it could have had more to it, I'm left off with so many questions on what has happened and what not. Not my first time reading this authors work and it wont be the last. I was amazed at how her writing just drew me in again and again each page was something new and something I couldn't wait to get my hands on. The characters came out strong well Ryker did he was really hard not to fall in love with I felt like Frankie was kinda weak and didn't show many strong points except when she was mad as hell. They fit into each other perfectly, like peanut butter and jelly. They really made the story shine. Hard not to love, it did have its moments where you want to reach in and grab the characters but all in all they had you turning the page to see what happens next with them. I gave 4 stars as the ending just felt off and like it had more to it then bam your done and left wondering what the hell just happened. I would recommend reading this story of course read the series in order I wanted to start with the wrong one but held on.

Bah!!

Not sure what to say.

Man-whore athlete trope. If you've read YA Sports romances, this one is pretty typical.

I read this book three days ago. I've read another books 4 since. When I came to write this review, I had totally forgotten what the story was about. The writing wasn't horrible or anything it just wasn't interesting to me. I found that there was too much content about the class she was teaching. I basically took up 1/3 of the story. Then all the pointless conversations with her friends seem to be just filler to bring the book from novella to novel. Secondary characters were forgettable and boring. And the heroine's unrealistic 'dreams' about the hero are archaic and naive, considering she's an adult in college where most people party and hook up.

And worst of all for me, Ryker!!! He was a total dick and way too stereotypical (In my opinion). He lacked a level of depth that could have made him swoon-worthy.

I have been “Booksmacked”

First let me start off by saying that this book had everything that to me deserved five stars.
1. The Author dove right in and got right into the story which I loved.
2. I got the feels, unless your a robot/zombie you know what I mean.
3. Book Hangover, again if you are a book lover you know what I am talking about.

I bought this book on New Years Eve and it was my date for the night. I have been a fan of this series and this was a must have. I pulled an all-nighter because I couldn’t put it down.

This book was exactly what I expected from Harper Bentley. It was romantic, deeply emotional, sexy and had its funny moments.

The story is about Ryker Powers, sexy, athletic, bad boy. Francesca Mangenelli (AKA Frankie) has daydreams of Ryker Powers. He breaks her heart time and time again but will she get her HEA. Can Ryker stay away from her.

As I said above the Author jumps right in and get you from the first few lines and I loved the that. Right away I am invested and need to read more.

Right away I am invested and need to read more.

I got the feels, the actual “heart-pounding” physical feels when I continued reading this book. Why because most of us if not all of us have had our heart broken once or twice. Most of us if not all of us have had that moment where you met a guy or a girl and you lose your breath. You feel that with Frankie’s first encounter with Ryker, you feel that when she gets her heart broken. You feel that with each moment between Frankie and Ryker.

Ryker made me remember those girly moments I had when I was younger. When I longed / crushed / daydreamed about a guy. He also made me want to give his head a shake at times or slap him upside the head.

Frankie made me remember what it was like to daydream (I still do it now). You wanted her to get her HEA, you wanted her to hold her head up high.

I was invested from the first word to the very last word and when I was done I wanted to re read it all over again because I didn’t want to let go. In fact that is probably what I am going to do today. But not only that I am going to read every book in this series from the beginning because the entire series was chest clutching, heart-wrenching, I need to relive every moment fantastic.

I am sad beyond sad that this series has come to an end but look forward to what Harper Bentley has in store for us in the future.

This is a must buy and going onto my list of favorites. What a great way to start off the new year.

Ryker (The Powers That Be #4)
Harper Bentley
3.5 stars

So love the cover .. a lot but Im bummed to find out that this is the last book in the series and I didn’t of course get to read the previous three releases. Im not a fan of knowing everything there is to know about the characters even though books are standalones. The Powers boys are all mentioned in this book and we actually have interaction with Loch. Bums me out not knowing their stories and it makes me personally feel as a reader that I missed things.

Ryker is a decent read but the story felt rushed to me. Ryker has a past that he has a death grip on .. a past that drives him. However you don’t find out about any of that until you are almost ¾ of the way through the story. I felt as important as this was it should have been addressed and brought more to the front of why Ryker was and is the way he is. It might have not made me want to beat the crap out of his character and grab Frankie by the arm to shake some sense into her.

Speaking of Frankie (Francesca Mangenelli) I found myself calling her a stupid girl through most of the story. What I did LOVE about the book is Frankie’s neighbor Mrs. Bertonlini and I also loved that the kids in her class called her Coach Manjajelly because they couldn’t pronounce her name. Being a teacher myself .. yeah that’s awesome. Something like that makes the worst day a great day. Kids are brilliant.

There was a also a character named Cole that I don’t know if we got to meet prior or what his story was but he was a snake and I wanted to know more. All in all its not a bad read but it’s a quick read. If I would have had the opportunity to read the other releases maybe it might have had more of an impact on me. Not sure though. The storyline panned out and the ending was good – Love the epilogue but something was for sure missing for me in the middle. If you have read the other books then click this one up. For me, I think I missed too much to have a connection with the characters in this read.

Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Are you kidding me???
This totally belongs in the category ‘nearly-not-finished’.
Why?
Because the characters were super annoying.

So, we’ve got a college girl attracted to a college guy (both in the teacher training program). He is a wrestler. He is a manwhore. So far, so good.
Well, but we’ve got a woman who keeps saying she won’t do anything with this guy because 1) he still screws around, 2) he is a controlling ass.
Guess who keeps screwing around with him? Right.
So, this girl thinks he screws around with others but she still sleeps with him. What’s wrong with her???? I mean, what about her self-esteem? Her pride?? Apparently, this woman doesn’t have any of it.

God, I’m so annoyed.
And don’t get me started on Ryker. Seriously, make up your mind, dude. Can’t believe he plays her like that.

The plot was good. It was more the characters that got to me. And the fact that they have sex rather than talk everything out before they (or rather she) are into deep. Honestly, such a dumb girl, I still can’t believe it.
Writing style was good, too. Only 1POV and an epilogue written in Ryker’s POV.
The ending was okay. I just never really connected with the characters so it was hard to really like the ending.

And what is with her best friend and her guy? I mean, I get jealous, I really do but what this girl does is beyond crazy. Trust in a relationship might be a good asset.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review

After reading the previous three, I am so happy with the vast improvements Harper has made on the books. I always end up finishing them in a few hours because of how entertaining they are. And this one did not disappoint. From the start we were thrown into the story. While for others I like some more background, this one was perfect the way it was structured. I liked Frankie and I also really liked Ryker. I enjoyed how they just both went for it, how she pursued him and not the other way around. We don’t get girls who make the first move a lot. But of course once she was on his radar, he was the one pursuing her after. After reading such emotional and heavy books, these ones are always entertaining. All the Powers Brothers have had great stories, and I have enjoyed every single one of them.

Loved this final story in the series!

Ryker is the broody, intense, wrestler Powers brother. He is completely focused on his sport, except for the revolving door of girls.

Frankie has been dreaming of him for two years – dreaming of true love and a future with him. She finally gets her chance to be with him but immediately regrets it, when she realises that she’s just another hook-up.

The story follows Ryker and Frankie’s ups and downs, as they work their way backwards from hook-up to friends to a proper relationship, and we find out why Ryker has shied away from a committed relationship for so many years.

Ryker is a hugely sexual character and the chemistry between them is amazing. I’d love to read a follow up story featuring all the brothers and their partners, at some in the future.

I finally finished the series, and even though this was much better edited than the precious three I can’t say I’m impressed.

There are still these awkward, rambly sentences that just doesn’t work, even if they are intended to be that way.
There are still more tell than show,
And there are still random “big” words that stops the flow of the reading experience.

There was a little more depth in these characters than the previous pairings, but that doesn’t say much.

I won’t be reading any more of this author’s books because I don’t want to pay for something I can’t guarantee will be worth reading.

Two stars, because the “dirty talking” was so meh and him ‘ordering’ her in bed fell flat when she sulked about it

I love this series, and i love all the men in it as well. Ryker though is the toughest nut to crack for me. Let me tell you he is a hot man in the physical sense, but he is also a hot head underneath. We do learn about this side of him and his intense brooding nature. Frankie is a girl i liked a heck of a lot she knows what she wants but also sees the truth, such as she has to let Ryker go even if it could break her. I will not tell you the outcome, but there was a lot going on for both Frankie and Ryker to get to the ending and i loved reading this book one wet sunday morning

I'm all about love being for the greater good but Frankie was just desperate at times.. and at other she seemed as some 5 stage clinger.. like girl get the hell off it. You're 20..What the hell do you know about soul-mates? But at other times I was her biggest cheerleader but she made it hard especially wth her naive ways..

Nice is see the last brother fall. Ryker was a wee bit of a jerk, and I didn't really understand why 'I love you' messed him up so much. Frankie was a sweetie even if she needs a push or two. Still loving the last chapter is from the guys POV. I just wish there had been an epilogue with all the brothers and their ladies.

This book pissed me off just as much as the others but I will say that I give the author mad credit for making Francesca realistic when it counted the most. I loved that she snapped on her friends when they kept pushing and pushing her whether to go after Ryker, trying to make him jealous, or trying to find her a man. I loved, loved, loved that she told them shove it and let it go. She did the same with her mom but she laid the smackdown with her friends in style. She gave Ryker so many chances of messing up and she always took him back or put up with his sh*t when she should have said goodbye and moved on, but the last straw when she really decided that was it, she held out. She didn't respond to his messages even though I'm sure she wanted to, kept their relationship professional at work, didn't avoid him but didn't seek him out either which is what I think he needed to see. I just wish we'd seen more of her turning her back on him. I think she deserved to have him grovel and prove that he was serious. I know if she held out he would have become more persistent in pursuing her and proving he wanted to be with her. I wanted to see that, she deserved more from him. I will admit it's more than what I've come to expect in books when guys like this mess up so I took what I could get but it would have been so much better if the author had drawn this out much, much, more. He put her through so much crap and mixed signals that she deserved to be showered with affection, apologies, and sucking up to her.

Ryker, while at first I despised him from the beginning, eventually I learned to tolerate him for Francesca. I didn't like how he treated her or how he just all of a sudden decided to take an interest in her, because it just seemed like a game to him. I hate how crude he was when talking about his sleeping around as if it was no big deal, how he toyed with her feelings when he didn't know what he wanted from her, how he gave Nikki encouraging smiles and hugs knowing Francesca was right there watching when he would have flipped out if she'd done the same to another guy. He could barely take seeing her just talking to another guy and that was before they started their thing, whatever it was they called it. He didn't take her feelings into consideration, everything was a joke to him. To see that Francesca settle for such a loser was really disheartening. Wow, he took her out to dinner as an apology for the way he acted and how he treated her like she was just another girl the entire book, lucky her!!!

This author and I will never click. We have very different expectations and although this series was pretty bad for me personally, it did have some potential with two of her heroines that I liked and respected so it wasn't a total loss. I don't see myself reading these books again though. I think I'm good with ending our relationship with this book. I'd like to see other people and see what else is out there. Good luck and goodbye.

The way these two go at it, both in and out of bedroom can only mean one thing....they are meant for each other, and their fighting is as hot as their loving.......I have fallen in love with all of the Powers boys,.....why should Ryker be any different?❤️🌼🔥

This is a 4 star rated book and I wonder what are the stars for? The writing style is terrible, cheesy, and repetitive. The story is dish water of everything out there with no depth or character complexity. Imagine a 1st grader writing his own version of good girl wants bad boy and can't help it . No emotion at all, anoying conversations and so boring that most of the time I fell asleep within 10 min.

This is the book I was waiting for Ryder in all previous encounters with the brothers has been the most intense and intriguing of them all.

Frankie is just starting her final year of college when she finally gets the chance to meet Ryker, whom she has been fantasising about for the past two years and it looks like he has finally noticed her. What she discovers is her dream is so far from reality it's untrue, after an amazing night together he basically throws her out with a thanks for a great night. After her dream man fails to meet her unrealistic expectations her friends talk her in to going to ask him for coffee and that's when she gets to witness his manwhoring ways first hand and let's just say it could have gone better.

Frankie is a romantic dreamer and he is a dirty talking bad boy. It's hard to see how they could ever work but they do and watching them get to know each other. Although they started out back to front they do get to know each other in the beginning Frankie is just in love with idea of Ryker but when she gets to know the man she falls for him completely.

Ryker is the most intense and focused of the brothers he has a reason but that's better left to the book to explain. He is very closed off and dedicated to his sport but there is something about Frankie that he can't escape, she is in his thoughts, and although he tries to convince himself that she doesn't want to be with her he just can't stay away. He is in my opinion more of an alpha male than the other brothers.

Their story starts back to front but I loved reading their romance and loved the little bit at the each of every book from the brothers point of view. Awesome read.

Finally we get Ryker’s story. He’s always been the Powers brother that I’ve wanted to know, and now that we got his story, I have a love/hate relationship with him.

Frankie (Francesca) is entering her last year of college, when she finally gets a chance with Ryker. She’s been swooning over him for years, and when he finally notices her, she thinks this is her chance. What she finds out is Ryker is kind of a jerk and throws her out after an amazing night of sex. When her friends (who are quite hilarious) talk her into asking him out, things go from bad to worse for Frankie.

Watching Frankie and Ryker navigate around one another was stressful, yet amazing all at once. Ryker comes off as a jerk, but also as a hot alpha male. He’s a dirty talking bad boy, so it’s easy to see why girls fall at his feet. Frankie is a romantic, and doesn’t get the games she thinks Ryker is playing. Seeing her throw everything out there with what she wants was awesome, but seeing her give in to Ryker so quickly was frustrating. I know she cares for him, but in the beginning it was only the idea of Ryker that she liked, not necessarily the man. As she got to know him, I totally see why she fell hard for him.

Ryker is definitely the moodiest of the Powers brothers. He’s harboring some hurts from years ago that makes him closed off and focused only on his wrestling. We don’t get to know until the very end his reasoning, but once it’s told, I totally understood why he was the way he was. As much as Ryker says he doesn’t want a relationship, you can see with how he is with Francesca that even though he thinks it’s not something he wants, he definitely does.

The stand out character in this book that made everyone wise up to what was going on, was Loch. He was the voice of reason for Ryker and Francesca in this book, and it was hilarious seeing him spouting off relationship advice. Even though we didn’t get to see his interactions much with Ryker, if he was saying the things to him that he was saying to Francesca, then he definitely helped get these two back together.

I really did enjoy Frankie and Ryker’s story, but as always with this series, I wish their story was longer. I felt as soon as they figured things out, the book ended. I did NOT want Ryker and Frankie’s story to end because I fell hard for them and their story. I know this is the last book in this series, but I can only hope and dream we will get one more in this series telling us how all of the brothers and their significant others ended up. I am not ready to say goodbye to the bad boy Power’s brothers, but if I have to, Harper Bentley did an amazing job with saving Ryker for last!
