Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us!
We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.

It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.
So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.
Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?

Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

This one’s going straight to my favorites shelf!

A hot, arrogant doctor…

…and a kickass nurse.

Throw into the mix a crazy Italian family...

two adorable children….

a cute lab...

...AND I WAS HOOKED!!!

But I didn’t expect it to be such a deep and emotional read.

At times hilarious.
At times hot and steamy.
At times devastating and heart-breaking.
At times even cruel.

I'm not going to lie. This book deals with one of the hardest topics and the ugliest things that can happen to a human being. The ultimate loss. Sadness. Healing. And yet it's optimistic, heartwarming and truly beautiful.

FACTS & STATS:

Five. That's how many hours it took me to devour this book.
Nine. That’s how many times I had to calm my erratic heartbeat.
Twenty-five. That's how many times I laughed out loud.
Twenty-one. That's how many times I had to stop reading to take a deep breath.
Twelve. That's how many times I had to wipe my eyes. Sometimes they were happy tears and sometimes they were not.
Forty-one. That's how many times I caught myself smiling.
Zero. That's how many times I regretted reading this book.
A million. That's how many times I recommend you to read it.

This one made me laugh and cry in equal amounts..such beautiful characters and two of the most adorable children I've read about(they actually reminded me of my own children when they were young)

Dr Guy Hunter is content with his life.A beautiful young wife and new baby. He's about to fullfill his dream and go into an area of Medicine he's been working towards all his life. But suddenly his dreams are shattered and his life takes a dramatic turn...

Fast forward 4 years and he finds himself a bit lost, struggling to bring up 2 young children on his own.
Jules is a paediatric nurse,a job she loves, when she meets Guy when his young son is admitted to the hospital she's working in.
At first, she doesn't warm to the grumpy doctor but events draw them together and they become close and fall quite hard and fast for each other.

Guy is bitter about his past and Jules is struggling with a life changing event that happened years ago.

This book is simply adorable...that's not to say it's a fluffy romance because it isn't.There's heart ache and drama but ultimately it's a story of deep love, family and letting go of the past.
There are some difficult subjects tackled here and it is extremely well written.
Have to mention Max and Finn, two of the most adorable children I've read about!!
I highly recommend this little gem!!!

Holly hell!! Riley Mackenzie completely blew me away with this book. These two authors are incredibly gifted. Beautifully Awake was my first book by them and I absolutely adored it. This book is still at the top of my favorite books and I read it more than three times already. Since then, I read all of their books and each time they managed to touch the deepest recesses of my heart delivering a tale that steals my breath away. And Abruption was no exception.

When I met Guy for the first time in Beautifully Aware I fell hard for him. And now after reading this book I’m definitely in love with him. Guy is a general surgeon and a single father taking care of his four years old daughter and his three years old son with special needs of medical attention. He’s fully dedicated to his two adorable children he loves more than anything. Guy is a wonderful father and human being struggling with the aftermath that derailed his life four years ago. Until Jules walks into his life to show him the light.

Jules is his son's new nurse. She is just as amazing. She’s a protective, loving and resilient woman. The tragedy that she survived has changed her and the career choice she made was her reason to go on. When life offers her what she has always longed for, the void inside her stops reminding her of all she has lost.

They were both two kind hearted characters I have ever come across. This book kept me engrossed in its every word, there were so many moments that ripped my heart right out of my chest. I ached for Guy and his son Finn. Every facet of Guy and Jules’s story left me breathless, overwhelmed and overflowing with emotions. It was one of the hardest books to move away from in the end. This is a story about new beginnings and about the endurance of the human spirit and its ability to heal itself when surrounded by true love.

According to the authors’ bio, I do confirm that they definitely share a brain :) Together they really have the uncanny ability to create little gems. I wholeheartedly recommend this exquisitely written story to everyone. Truly beautiful!

Overall Opinion: This was a sweet, sexy, and entertaining read. I loved the interactions with the kids, and it made me so grateful that my kiddos are healthy. I cannot imagine the struggles these types of parents go through, and I was so happy they got such a sweet HEA. Even though it has the potential for being depressing, I never felt it was. I also never felt that the h was second best. She became such a major part of the H's life, and I felt like he really did care for her as his one and only.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Jules and Guy's story. They meet when Jules is assigned as Guy's son's new nurse. They don't hit it off right away, but after clearing up some bad first impressions they start dating. Both of them have past demons that haunt them, and they need each other to get through their troubles. There are some sweet moments with Guy's kids, some sexy times, some crazy family moments, and some shocking drama...but they get a HEA end.

POV: This alternated between Jules and Guy's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No. I felt like it was sufficient time for stronger feelings to develop.

H rating: 4 stars. Guy. He was a jerk at first, but then he became sweet and caring. I loved his relationship with his kids.

h rating: 4 stars. Jules. I really liked how strong she was, and how she loved the H and both of his kids.

Sadness level: Low/moderate. I never needed tissues, but this covers some heavy themes.

Push/Pull: Minimal.

Heat level: Moderate. They have some good chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes. Birth control and std status is discussed. No mention of previous practices that I remember.

OW/OM drama: Yes, but mild

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had great closure with a jump ahead epilogue with a HEA ending.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: Safe

This was my first Riley Mackenzie read. I was in the mood for a baby daddy book and this one has a doctor with two kids, so yup, I picked it up.

I didn’t dislike the book, I just think there are many elements of the book I don’t prefer when I read. I found the book very descriptive, somewhat dragging and a bit slow. However, I understand the raving reviews. The storyline was top notch and if you are a fan of the author’s writing style, then I can see why people like it so much.

Guy Hunter is a doctor and he’s had a hard life. He has two kids and he’s a widow. His number one priority in life is his children, especially his disabled son. The Hero is very strong, kind of mean and really rude. It was hard to like him at first, but you get an understanding where he came from and so eventually you feel for him. His ex-wife wasn’t the nicest person.

Jules is a nurse and loves her job. She runs into Guy’s son and tries to do her job as a nurse, but Guy’s over protectiveness towards his son overrules Jules care and thus leaving a not so great first impression. I liked the way Jules and Guy meet. You can see how rude he is and he makes no apologies for his behavior. Jules is a very caring person and she genuinely cares for Guy’s children. I loved that. I also loved that Guy’s children love Jules back, since I hate bratty kids.

The dynamics between Jules and Guy is cute at first, but a lot of drama happens, I mean A LOT of drama happens and they can never seem to catch a break. Like a said, the book is VERY descriptive. I skimmed overall about 30% of this book because I just wanted to read the dialogue. Guy’s son continues to get sick and it puts the Jules and Guy’s relationship on hold. Even though Jules cares for the family, she’s hesitant to jump in fully.

I was really frustrated with Jules and this created a lot of angst. She was really suborn and cautious towards Guy and the relationship and we didn’t know why. We just knew something happened to her in the past and she wouldn’t tell us why. I really hate that in the book. She did this for a good portion of the book and I just didn’t understand what Guy saw in her.

Also I didn’t understand the beginning or the cover to be honest. There’s a whole chapter to Guy’s ex-wife, but it kind of ends abruptly and I felt like there should have been more on the ex-wife or it should have been summarized to a shorter length. The cover has a photo of a pregnant woman, that didn’t make sense either.

Overall, Abruption is a cute book for the author’s fans.

This book was Absolutely Amazing!!I loved every single page of this book.
First I have to say, I'm a sucker for single dads in a story. I have no idea why but I just can't resist them.
description

Abruption was such a powerful and heartbreaking story. I personally haven't experienced what the characters in the book had been through but the way the authors wrote it made me feel every emotion!!! The storyline is very well written and easy to connect with.

"There are no happy endings. Ending are the saddest part, so just give me happy middle and a very happy start."

Guy Hunter is a single father with 2 children, one of which has special needs. His kids, Maxine and Finn, are absolutely adorable and impossible not to get attached to. ( If you don't fall in love with these 2 kids, then something is seriously wrong with you!)

“Fair is not getting what you think you deserve, it’s getting what you can handle.”

Jules " juju" is a pediatric nurse who becomes involved in the care of Guy’s son. When you will found out her secret, it will break your heart. Jules was such an amazing heroine, not once did my eyes roll while I was reading her POV! Thumbs Up
I liked how their relationship was developed, it was well paced and very realistic.
The story of Guy and Jules story will break your heart, make you laugh, and will make you go Oh la la!.
And the epilogue just perfectly ties everything together .

“I forgot what it felt like. To breathe. I forgot, and it feels so good. Thank you.”

So yep I highly recommend this book!

☆ I received an ARC via Love Between the Sheets in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! ☆

abruption live

Two individuals, both not a stranger to heartbreak and loss, come together in this unforgettable story that left me a little teary.

I’ve always loved reads that circle around the importance of love and family and this book has it in every single breath of it.

Jules is a woman carrying an unbearable suffrage that only those who have experienced it can imagine. And Guy (hah, what a name!), is man carrying the world on his shoulders.

When both meet through Finn, one of Guy’s children and also Jules’ new patient—Guy and Jules find themselves whisked away on a tumultuous attraction...

TEASER ONE

Along with, finally confronting heart-wrenching grief, loss, budding friendship, and the thrall of falling in love.

TEASER FOUR

It was not an easy partnership, that’s for sure. Each have hang ups and heavy real-life issues on their plates. With Guy being a doctor, a father to one healthy and one ailing child, and a tragedy on his back. And Jules being scarred beyond compare, it was quite a trek, watching them open themselves to the other and learning how to heal from their pasts.

TEASER TWO

Guy and Jules are absolute perfection and most certainly “soul-mates” in every sense of the word. Authors Riley Mackenzie did an astounding job bringing these characters to life and bringing home the vulnerability of valid predicaments and how in the end there is always a light at the end of the tunnel no matter how bleak things may get.

Gawd, this book was a gem!!

“I love you the mostest of everyone, so can I updopt you too?”

This book drained me physically and emotionally. It was tragically beautiful.

Story wise, this book wasn't as angsty as I thought it would be. And I liked it. I liked that it's still as original as only Riley Mackenzie can do. I guess the saying 'two heads are better than one' is true after all. The only concern I have was, in the entire book, I have absolutely no idea how old Guy is, it's frustrating. But he's gotta be in his early 30s right? But if anyone knows please tell me. I might go crazy not knowing.

I was completely sad when we didn't have crossovers except for Sam Petit which wasn't really counted because he's only a minor character from Beautifully Awake. I'm cruel I know. But I was dying to see Dr. Chase Colton again. Sad sigh.

I couldn't believe this is the same Guy that I knew and adored from Beautifully Awake. He's serious and broody here. A total three sixty from his former laidback and cheery self.

“No more minutes, no more leaving”

Jules, on the other hand, was a strong and undoubtedly brave main character. She's very likeable. None of those heart-eyed, deer-in-headlights, Stepford type of women. She's independent and not afraid to speak her mind when needs must. I couldn't ask for a better heroine for our hero. *howls*

The minute I read the synopsis and learned that this is gonna be about Guy. I knew I had to read it before Beautifully Done. It was a risky decision but it was worth it. My precious little beans, Finn and Max (and Raffy and Tommy), were totally worth it! Read this! You're welcome! ;)

Heartbreaking. Family. Love
Three best words to describe this book in a nutshell. Guy, a surgeon and widower with 2 kids meets Jules, a pediatric nurse who is hiding a sad secret. Together they fall into an easy, loving relationship however unknown to both of them, they have to fight the ultimate betrayal. Pretty serious read, this one..with a great twist at the end. It had the perfect amount of steam and sweet and i just loved the interaction Jules had with Guy's kids. Definitely recommended.

My review:

I was unsure of this book at first for a few reasons, but I quickly became engrossed in the story. It had many aspects which I love - non-manwhore SINGLE DAD (which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine). I am sorry, but you cannot convince me that a single dad to a special needs child would have a manwhore's lifestyle. No way. That is a huge turn off for me when reading single parent books. That goes both ways too. Anyways, that wasn't the case here.

Both Guy and Jules were lovely characters. The scenes with the kids were just adorable. And there were plenty of them - also a plus in my book.

Another plus - it was fairly steamy and the HEA was 100% complete.

Why not 5 stars? It's really my own personal bias, so I won't even divulge my secrets, but it really has nothing to do with triggers. LOL! It's just me being silly.

Wow! This was amazing! I felt so many emotions while reading this - there were parts that had me ugly crying and there were a few parts where I laughed out loud. I loved the kids in this story! Finn and Maxie were fantastic and I just adored them. I loved Jules, she was so strong - probably one of my very favorite heroines ever. Guy was also amazing. Even though he's suffered a loss and he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders, I never once felt Jules was his second choice. There was a lot of romance, a few really hot sexy scenes, and a bit of drama and mystery. I loved everything about this book and I'm adding it to my top books of 2016 list.

Not going to lie after 30% I started skimming. Hate when authors bashes the dead wife in order for the heroine to become a saint. This happened here, the goody two shoes who loved hero's kids like they were her own. She could do no wrong in their little eyes. Hero is a dick who thinks the heroine is an incompetent. Never apologized for being an ass.
I never felt their chemistry. It bother me a lot that the kids called heroine mommy and hero and heroine actually dismissed their mother, never bothered telling them that they already had one.

“Beautiful people don’t exist, they are made.”

We do love a story that involves children and in Abruption we met two adorable children who completely and utterly stole our hearts. Riley MacKenzie beautifully captured the essence of the innocence, sweetness and cuteness of these kids and there were times our heart strings were well and truly pulled, making us tear up more than once.

Abruption was our first book by Riley MacKenzie and what a wonderful introduction. These ladies beautifully told a heart wrenching yet hopeful story about second chances, love, loss and sacrifice and we ate it up.

Dr Guy Hunter appears to have it all. A promising career, a wife, a beautiful baby and another on the way. Then one day his life’s turned upside down when everything changes and Guy becomes a single father, raising two of the most adorable children you could ever meet. Balancing work and home life whilst dealing with the bitterness he feels in his heart.

‘I’d give this woman the world on a silver platter if I could erase her hurt.’

Jules was like a breath of fresh air that breezed into Guy’s life at a time he needs it the most. Jules was funny, loving and so giving to Guy and his children though despite her outgoing demeanour Jules is hiding her own pain and sadness which was heartbreaking.

“Let me become yours. Let me make you happy. Let me help you heal.”

There’s no doubt Finn and Maxie, Guys kids, are the heart of this story, with single Dad, Dr Guy Hunter being at its core and leaving us in awe of his selflessness and his soul deep love for his small children. This man was made to be a father, it came so natural to him and he gave his whole self to Finn and Maxie and when Guy utters… “I’ve got you buddy” to Finn, we felt it and believed there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t sacrifice for his kids.

‘who loves ya.’ “You say this to the kids. From the first time I heard you ask them, I loved it. I love how their eyes light up, and they want to giggle because they think it’s silly. Because all they know from you, all you’ve ever given them…is pure and unconditional love. There is no better feeling.”

Jules and Guy complimented one another beautifully, both sinking and needing a life raft. The chemistry between Guy and Jules was intense and Dr Guy certainly had a naughty mouth on him!

“Every day, doll. I want this.”

Whilst there is no doubt Abruption moved us and we welled up at times in this story, however we did find the momentum slowed a little particularly in the middle. There were also moments when the story would build only to head off in another direction. Another small issue, which is something personal, was the use of the endearment ‘doll.’ It grated on us and came across a little condescending rather than endearing, however that really is a personal thing to us as readers. It was clear that the subject matter was well researched and considering the topics dealt with in this story, they were handled with love, sensitivity and care. The love story was heart-warming, Jules’s big beautiful big Italian family engulfed us with their boisterousness and the children were exquisitely written ‘ Who loves ya?‘ We do Finn and Maxie girl, we do!

4.5 Stars! Lived up to the hype.

Some tough subject matter woven into a sweet love story and it worked really well. The twist with Jules and Lucca...did not see that coming...or the medical mystery. That being said, I think the story went on a tad too long. Other than that, a unique story, charming characters, and a few surprises.

4.5 I love Dr Guy stars.

On the urging of my co-bloggers (thanks Nichole & Steph for insisting) I jumped into this read somewhat blind and it is my first book penned by these two fantastic authors. I loved it - it had just the right amount of steam, raw sexiness, moments of hilarity, a crazy cooky family, adorable children, nail biting angst and tension. Chock full of dynamic characters that I've come to adore - Guy was an extremely swoon-worthy hero complimented by his sassy love interest, Jules - as well as devious characters I wanted to throat punch. The plot was fast paced and held my interest from beginning to end.

No doubt I thoroughly enjoyed this read and look forward to diving into more worlds created by the imaginations of this writing duo.

4.5 stars!

decided to go with 4.5 stars! this one is really well done, beautifully heartbreaking.

Dr Guy Hunter is a successful doctor but he has sacrificed so much to get to this position. Being a single father, his 2 kids are everything to him, including little Finn who has cerebral palsy. Even so, he's 100% dedicated to them. Finn's health is bad and he requires frequent trips to the hospital, but Guy is extremely patient as a father, putting on a brave front despite the pain he's feeling. (another reason to adore him !!)

Jules, aka Juju, is an ICU nurse in the paediatric department. One day when little Finn was admitted to the hospital once again, Jules tended to him and both of them managed to form a special relationship. Sadly, Dr Guy is not one bit impressed and doubted Jules' skills as a nurse. But of course, Jules is determined to prove him wrong.

What makes this book a heartbreaking one was the fact that both of them were no strangers to loss, just in a different way. the tragic incident Jules went through was the reason for her career choice. She's extremely protective and longed for a family, while Guy desired for someone to complete him. I enjoyed how both of them helped each other heal. They were determined to work things out despite the situation and demons they had from the past. Beautiful story!

This is the first book I’ve read by the authors and I absolutely loved it. LOVED IT! When I dived into this I didn’t realise it was part of a series, and this didn’t affect my reading experience at all. And what an experience! Guy’s one hella hot and arrogant doctor that gets Jules’ back up from the get go. I love books that start out like this, especially when the heroine is no push over and he has to work to get in there. Instead Jules was feisty, spunky, took no prisoners and most of all is a caring, loving woman who has lost so much. I totally got why Guy was like he was in the beginning, but even more I love that he knew he was wrong, owned it and apologised. And Jules had the grace to forgive and move on.

So not only is this a gorgeous love story but it’s also about learning to fight for what you want, accept what you can’t change and move on, with grace. Throw in the sweetest two kiddies, a whack job, a crazy but loving “in-a your-a face so fuckus” Italian family and you have the makings of a deeply moving but still snort out loud at times “who loves ya” story that I could not put down from beginning to end.

5 absolutely amazing stars.

Abruption by Riley McKenzie
3.5 stars!!

“If you work hard in silence, your success will be the noise.”

This was a book that will tug at your heart strings and contains two of the most adorable kids I have ever read about. There is nothing more rewarding than reading about a father that takes care of his kids and puts their lives before his own. Guy was a selfless father that you couldn’t help but fall in love with and this was his struggle to keep his family together while finding himself along the way.

“People spend most of their lives believing fair is getting what you deserve, when in reality, fair is merely getting what you can handle.”

Dr Guy Hunter thought he had it all, a beautiful wife and a beautiful baby. He was finally achieving the fruits of his labour and heading towards the career that he had dreamed and strived for, concentrating on the branch of medicine that he always felt had been his calling until it wasn’t. Fast forward four years and Guy is a struggling single father to two adorable children. He is still a doctor in a hospital but now his priorities have changed. It is all about the kids and one of them is very sick.

Jules is a paediatric nurse and adores her job, her happy go lucky attitude is a hit with the kids and lights up the solemnest of faces. But underneath her bright and bubbly personality is a woman dealing with a whole heap of hurt of her own but she never lets it affect her work or the kids that she strives to save. It is in paediatrics that Jules meets Guy and they don’t exactly hit it off at first.

Guy comes across as an arse, an arrogant arse at that too, his people skills are not the best but this is all a side effect from all the hurt and pain he still feels from his wife, he keeps himself to himself and his heart guarded. His son, Finn, was extremely untrusting but Jules broke through to him and brought smiles where there were only tears and it was this bond between patient and nurse that actually had Guy questioning himself, questioning Jules and once again questioning love.

“Another reason to tack on to my growing list of why…why she could be my more.”

This was a beautiful read at times as well as sad. There were tears of happiness as well as a few in sadness. But this book was uplifting too because even when you are at your lowest ebb there is always someone there to bring you back and for Guy and Jules, it was each other…as well as a crazy ass Italian family that will have you in hysterics. I had many a laugh out loud moment too, many from the crazy Italians but this goes to show the importance of family and their support. They are there to pick you up, give you advice and be the forever shoulder when you need one.

“Your life is like this tree, deeply rooted, with a solid foundation and countless branches linking your past throes with future dreams. Every tree faces inevitable storms and strong winds testing the strength of its roots. Branches break; new ones grow. It will flower and leaves will fall. And from your tree new life will emerge. In the end, though, with purpose and perseverance your tree will prevail, and each will be beautifully individual and uniquely different. A full circle of such.”

So why not a higher rating? For me, sometimes less is more and there was a lot going on in this book and for me personally I felt like some of it wasn’t necessary. It felt like plot devices were used but not explored or explained fully so it felt a little disjointed at times and affected the flow of reading for me. But, none the less, I thoroughly enjoyed Guy and Jules’s journey and Max and Finn, two of the most adorable kids EVER!

Guy was the epitome of a perfect father and his love for those kids is one that will forever stay with me. He was totally adorable once he opened up and you couldn’t have wished for a better father for Max and Finn. Jules was another selfless person that you couldn’t help but love, despite her issues she made the most of the bad hand that she had been dealt and used her personal experiences to help others. Her relationship with Max and Finn was beautiful and tugged at every heart string. A beautiful read of finding love when you most need it and most of all family and everything that it encompasses.

The love story was heart-warming, Jules’s big beautiful big Italian family engulfed us with their boisterousness and the children were exquisitely written ‘Who loves ya?' We do Finn and Maxie girl, we do!

"Being emotional is normal, all part of the job." "These are precious new lives at their most fragile. You wouldn't be human if you didn't feel the weight of your heart."

Jules has suffered heartache of the worst kind and you don't fully know until later on in the story and my heart just broke for her. She has built walls around her heart so she cannot get hurt again but little does she know that is all about to change when she meets a new patient named Finn.

Guy had a plan but there were things that has happened that deterred him and he wouldn't change it for the world. He has his daughter, Maxine and his son, Finn that matters the most in his world. His reason for breathing, he would do anything for his kids. What makes his life a little harder than normal is Finn has cerebral palsy. Always in and out of the hospital, Finn has had alot to deal with in his short life. This is where he meets Jules, she has been assigned to help take care of Finn when he is brought into the ER.

Their first impression of each other is instant even if he comes across abrasive and high handed. There is a reason for how he acts. She reminds him of someone that he wishes to not remember but she finally understands that he has been hurt as well.

"He wasn't angry or hateful. He was hurt. The silent kind. The kind that slowly singes everything you ever thought was good and burns so raw that you question if there would ever be anything powerful enough to douse the flames"

Jules tries to stop herself from caring. There is alot at stake, its not just her and Guy. It is also about Maxine and Finn. But she cannot stop herself from falling for Guy.

"I didnt recognize myself with this man, but I liked who he brought out in me. She was sexy and strong. She was unbroken."

She falls for them all quickly. It was inevitable from the get go. What is not to love about them?

"He leaned down and his wet lips found mine for a brief second. When he pulled away, his eyes were soft and filled with something I'd only caught glimpses of before, mostly when he thought I wasn't looking. It was raw and gently, making my heart swell against the fragile ties holding it together, as a kaleidoscope of butterflies swarmed my stomach. His thumb swiped my lower lip, drying it and then he whispered, "Who loves ya, doll?" Finn opened his arms wide, screaming over the teaming shower, "We do, we do! To the moon and back."

Yet Jules tried to hide her pain but Guy can sense her heartbreak.

"I see you, doll. I've kept my rage bottled up for so long it made me unrecognizable. Yet you can see me. You are the only one, Jules that can really see me, the old me. And now I see you, all of you"

I really enjoyed this story. I am going to admit, as soon as I had this on my kindle, I dropped EVERYTHING to read this. I am a big fan of these ladies and have been from the get go. What I love most about them is that they write what they know. To me that helps out tremendously because you want to be able to believe what you are reading. You want to be able to get immersed in the story to where the real world is moving around you yet in your mind you are in this world instead. I just love that! What makes this story so special is that these characters have so much depth to them that their vulnerability made them all the more real to me. I couldn't help but have all the feels for them.

This is definitely a FIVE STAR read for me!!! I cannot wait for more and trust me I will be waiting rather impatiently for the next one!

Oh man the emotions in this book! For a moment I thought I wasn't going to finish this book cause of someone dying but nope everything in the end turned out great. My heart went out for Guy because he was a single father handling two kids and one of them being sick. He was such an amazing dad trying his best while still giving love a chance. Jules! Losing her baby girl so soon must have been so hard but she still went out to help other family's with sick children. I was happy when they ended up working through their issues and finally get together. The twist made me so mad I was ready to drop a bitch but in the end they got their HEA.

Such a powerful story of second chances... not a second chance romance but a story with a number of second chances at happy! http://amzn.to/1Qiqmsc

Abruption is a powerful story of second chances… not a second chance romance but a story with a number of second chances at happy!
If you love stories with mature characters, characters with real life problems, if you love a book where love doesn’t just make everything else float away then Abruption is a must read for you.
This story had a number of twists, turns, and plots lines I will not give away as I think they are best experienced by the reader. I will say I truly enjoyed this story. Both characters come to the relationship with life experiences that have left them hurting. As the blurb states - Dr. Guy Hunter is a single dad to a boy with special needs and Jules Chiappetti is a nurse who crosses his path during a crisis for Finn.
I so loved Jules. She was kind, compassionate and fierce, often in the same scene. Her love for children shines throughout this story and her love for Guy’s children is never in question.
Though both Guy and Jules has loved in the past, the author did a wonderful job showing how this relationship was different for both. The reader can truly feel these two are soulmates:
"I didn't recognize myself with this man, but I liked who he brought out in me. She was sexy and strong. She was unbroken. At least now."
The use of the children in the book added to the story; they help you understand the characters, their connections to each other, and they create a world that will pull you in!
One other thing worth noting is for much of this book Guy and Jules are together, working together, building a life together. This for me was one of the best parts of the story. They were adults deciding to make and build a life together even through crisis and heartache:
"I needed to show her that I wasn’t going anywhere. That she was my world. Our world. That we may have been broken apart, but together we were whole."
There are times in this book that your heart will be in your throat but trust me it works and you do get an amazing happy!
“But life was unfair. And sometimes there were no answers. Fair is not getting what you think you deserve, fair is getting what you can handle.”
I loved how the title played out throughout the story “My life is like a chronic abruption since that first bleed. Raw and gaping.” and the use of the phrase “Who loves ya?” truly added to the story!
The epilogue of this book touched deep into my soul. It is a beautiful portrayal of moving forward after loss, taking those memories and building a new life while remembering the past and what got you to this point. After all, you are who you are today because of your life experience; this book truly honors that.
No, I am not telling you what loss...read the book. Yes it is sometimes emotional but it is so worth journey.
