Google/Levi’s jeans tie-up gives smart clothing legs
Search giant Google is dipping its toes in the smart clothing sector by partnering with Levi’s to create the world’s first pair of ‘smart’ jeans.
The digital denim trousers will differ from their dumb counterparts on the clothes hangar by their use of a special fabric interwoven with a conductive material – capable of as-yet unspecified wizardry.
It’s a safe bet however that the garments will hook up to the smartphone inevitably placed in its front pocket, possibly allowing interactions with the phone within simply by swiping the fabric above.
This could utilise Google’s recently demonstrated Project Soli, a portable radar system that can accurately track body movements.
The hi-tech jeans are expected to go on sale next year.
