“New England Scenes”: The Piper Gallery exhibits the oil paintings of Dewie Weiner Schriesheim, who says “my profession is psychotherapy; my avocation is painting. Both domains offer opportunity to challenge me creatively. As a therapist, I begin where my client(s) are, and together we explore the complexities. As a painter, I start with an under painting, often in complementary colors to the finished product, and then build layers upon it. Each layer enriches those that follow. Lastly, I glaze portions of the image to add depth. With oil paint, my tools are brushed, rags, palette knife and sometimes, my finger. In both my practices, I work from dark to light.”

“The Bay State: A Multicultural Landscape: Photographs of New Americans”: The Pierce Gallery and The Large Meeting Room Gallery contain photos representing the bay state’s foreign-born population by Mark Chester, who says “The exhibit will include photographic portraits representing the Bay State’s foreign-born population, which accounts for fifteen percent of the total population. They are men, women and families from all corners of the world. Since 2011, I have been photographing our state’s foreign-born residents, who are naturalized U.S. citizens. To date, this includes 200 and more men, women and families representing 155 countries participation in this nonprofit project endorsed by the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy coalition-MIRA.”

The Commons Gallery of Student Work exhibits the art work of the students of Lexington Public Schools.
