Big Tex Location Owners Not Sure What They'll Do With It

The restaurant in downtown Decatur has been closed for more than a year.

DECATUR, GA -- The lease-holders of the space where Big Tex restaurant in Decatur used to be haven’t decided what to do with it more than a year after the restaurant closed.

Decaturish on Monday was reporting that the owners of Fox Bros. barbecue, who also hold the Big Tex lease, have been using the location as a kitchen for their busy catering business.

Co-owner Jonathan Fox, who lives in Kirkwood, told Decaturish that that was ending Monday, though, as the company will be moving its equipment to a new kitchen located near the SweetWater brewery.

So, what does that mean for the Big Tex spot off of West Ponce de Leon Avenue? Fox Bros. intends to keep the lease. But, other than that, it’s still not clear.

“Now that we can move our operations out of there, now we can really sit down and start to figure out what we’re going to do with that location. I doubt that we’re just going to let it go that easily,” Fox said in the post. “I have some partners that are definitely still interested in doing stuff over there.”
