Review

What a read! I went into this story completely blind and I'm still not sure what to make out of the story. It reminds me of the movie Cloud Atlas (with Tom Hanks), because I don't know, if it's brilliant or something else. The story in itself is very complex, told in dual POV and consists out of three main parts. It has a unique and fresh plot that chalanges you while reading the story as a whole. Also the word formation is at times more or less, dare I say, sophisticated.

The story starts with Scarlett being in Natural realm, where they are all in dragon form, following and trying to save her sister from going to Deviant realm, which is basically our world, the world of mortals. Unfortunately her plan fails and once she finds herself in our world, she loses all her memory and is so to say re-born as a mortal. Years fly by and they find themselves on the run for their lives. And when Scarlett is left behind by her sister all roads and clues seem to lead to her long lost mate, Draxton Drakon. Add to that witches, betrayals, bad guys and some crazy explosive chemistry and you just might get yourself an adventure you won't forget.

When I think of Draxton Drakon and Scarlett all I can think of is this couple
description

They are perfect for each other and both can kick some serious a**! Unfortunately they are both very stubborn and overly protective, and that gets them more times than not into huge couple fights. The only positive side is the following scorching, clothes ripping hot sex. ;) They are also extremely loyal, almost to a fault, to the ones they love and would do everything to keep the safe. So, when the truth came out about her sister, I could have seriously blown a gasked!

There were many plot twists, especially about who the real villains were. reminded me at times of Sméagol from Lord of the Rings, no kiding.

description

The reason I gave it 3,5 stars is that, although it is a very good story, it was at times really hard to keep up with it. Since it's told by both main characters, the scenes for me weren't fluid. By that I mean e.g. a scene that happened in Scarletts POV was then continued by Drakon a few chapters latter. And in the mean time you found out what Drakon was doing when Scarlett told her POV in the previous chapter. Let's just say, that there is a lot a reader has to remember to keep up with the plot. I admit that I got the hand of it near the end of the book and that's why I have some plot holes.

That being said, is Drakon a wonderful read that I recommend! :)

Safety-gang: It's a safe read.

**** 3 STARS ****

I almost didn't finish the book. The plot and characters were great, but I think this story needed some editing. I was a bit confused in the beginning when it was talking about different realms. And sometimes during the book, I wasn't sure if it was talking about the past or present.

I also had issues with the pace. There were moments where I thought the story really needed to speed up or it needed some dialogue. And I love steamy scenes, but it felt like some of them were done at inappropriate times. Yes, I'm disappointed, but the fantasy was pretty good.

I have to start off by saying I love Jamie Magee. Having gotten that out of the way, I didn't love this novel. Honestly, I found it to be too complicated of a read. There were far too many elements to draw from, recall, and understand. I'm all for creating of your own world but I just felt so confused for a good portion of this story that it made it a bit of a struggle to fall into and really enjoy.

Scarlett and Draxton were in love and in the realm where they only had their dragon forms. Scarlett's sister went into the mortal world where she would "take flesh" to which Scarlett followed her out of duty. Scarlett's disappearance both angered and hurt Draxton. The two are separated in real life but find one another in their dreams each night until she ends up aboard his ship.

The two have to learn one another again in all aspects outside of the burning sexual tension between them. They are at war and it will take both of them to save their people and themselves. Scarlett is strong-willed and passionate which causes her and Draxton to argue quite a bit since he has the natural alpha instinct to control. Together they are quite a pair and, when I wasn't confused, were amusing and quite delightful.

Kindly provided with an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.....

Quite the interesting read !. This story takes place over the Natural, Deviant and human realms. In a nutshell this is Scarlett and Draxton's story.....soul mates and immortal dragons until something happens making Scarlett become human, where she forgets her origins.....and Draxton.

Oh NO !!. For lovers of paranormal romance with a little bit more umph.....this book's is then a MUST for you. The story line is devilishly complex (not to the point you have no idea what is going on )and the concept of these immortal dragon's is very well thought out.

There (thank the lord) are no love triangles, its duel perspectives (hurrah !) and praise be ends with a HEA !.

It took me a chapter or two to fully immerse myself in this world and I very much enjoyed the journey.

Well done Jamie !

Many thanks to Netgalley for this opportunity.

Later peeps x

I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

I am so glad I requested this book and I really hope there are more! I couldn't put this down, I had to know what was going to happen next.

It starts out in the realm of dragons then moves quickly to earth. Once a dragon leaves the realm they become a child and forget about the realm and the life they had there. Scarlett followed her sister to earth even though she never wanted that to happen. Thinking their father is dead they go on the run so they can stay together since they are under age. Years go by with them finding odd jobs to survive, until one day Scarlett comes home to find a note telling her to run. Not knowing where her sister is she tries to survive while looking for her.

What a ride! The drama and intrigue just sucked me in and wouldn't let go until the very last page!

While reading this book, I found that even though I enjoyed the story itself, the writing was a little confusing. I think this author has huge potential, but would have benefitted from a beta team to help her with some of the things I found confusing. Or, a better beta team if she had one.

I'm giving this 3 stars because I did genuinely like the story and found myself needing to finish the book to find out how it ended. It was good, but could have been so much better. I love paranormal romance, as it is one of my favorite genre's and was excited to read this one.

I think this author had an amazing idea here with this story, it just fell short on its execution for me. I will absolutely read more from this author with future books.

Really enjoyed this, loved the characters and the story - very alpha pair especially Drakon which I always love. The only problem I had was that sometimes the characters would go off into their thoughts for AGES... seriously, it was frustrating and was making me lose interest - hopefully the next book won't have that problem.

Could of been better

The story was drawn out to point I started to lose interest. It needed more dialog to the characters. I confused through most of it. Until skip paragraphs and figured out what was going on.

*I received an ARC of this book for an honest review*

(I'm sorry in advance for the few mistakes I may write, I'm French :) and I sometimes use Google Translate, which is nos always very... right)

So, since I'm a positive person I'm going to start with the things I didn't like about this book :)

Jamie Magee is my favorite author BUT I know her from her YA series Web of Hearts and Souls. I loves her NA serial, Edge but I thought the beginning was kind of hard to understand (+ the fact that English is not my native language). It was the same for Drakon.
The rhythm of the book at the beginning was kind of strange for me, the first chapters with Scarlett were intriguing but not yet fascinating.
And like I said, I'm a huge fan of Jamie. And sometimes, authors have a trademark. The negative one about Jamie Magee is the moment when her female characters are oblivious to their fate and rely on their men. It's kinda redundant. Scarlett was blind during the first half of the book whereas Drakon knew everything and he wanted to awaken her. It happened to almost every girl in Jamie's books (but I still love you okay? ♥♥)

Now comes the list of the great aspects about this book :D
The mystic aura of the dragons is frankly enthralling, the Realm they come from is really intriguing, maybe a more thorough description but since what they mostly do there is not admiring the landscape, I don't really mind ;)
Talking about these two characters, the symbiosis between Scarlett and Draxton is intoxicating, they're just as badass as the other is and once Scarlett is aware of her heritage and her fate, let's say I love how they work together like the warriors they are!
The small moments of powerlessness are frustrating and maddening but they're necessary and just as thrilling, they're the heart of the story and the famous suspense without which a book couldn't invoke emotions!
Jamie's writing is even more complex than before, with an interesting formal language and a syntax my French brain had some trouble with! But it shows how beautiful her sentences are, especially the dialogues between Scarlett and Draxton ♥
About the plot, some things were kinda predictable but most of the twists-and-turns were mind-blowing, even a small one like
OH and the small aparitions of were priceless !, she's seen through other people's eyes, its surprising but interesting to see how other people really perceive her!
And finally, the broken rhythm throughout the book is great. We switch from past to present depending on the actions we follow and Jamie did it very subtly. There's no real rupture in the story in the middle of the chapters, its fluid and it says everything Jamie wants to say though her characters.

TO CONCLUDE :
Super great badass and powerful story that could give strength just reading it
Mythic beings not very used this way so far (from what I'VE read of course) so it's really cool!
An interesting plot, surprising, with a good rhythm (the book flows and before you know it, you finished it!)
A family with endearing characters

Sequel? ♥

Drakon really does have it all- amazing yet three-dimensional characters, steamy romance yet a sweet love story, wonderfully choreographed action, interesting world-building, and a captivating plot. All of it combines to keep you up reading- on the edge of your seat and turning pages like crazy to see what happens next. The chemistry between Scarlett and Draxton Drakon is HOT! Seriously some of the best sex scenes I have ever read! Yet with all the chemistry and steamy sex scenes you don't lose any plot. It doesn't detract from the captivating storyline. Scarlett is a real three-dimensional woman that happens to be an extraordinary Dragon shifter from another realm. She doesn't remember her past or who she really is(the daughter of a Dragon alpha prophesized to be with Draxton Drakon-the Dragon alpha of his clan residing in the Natural Realm- our world) She meets Drakon while looking for her father and his ship Kingfin as well as her sister that has disappeared. Drakon and Scarlett are instantly drawn to each other and Scarlett learns of who she is and who she is destined to be- Draxton's queen leading their clan through a war they didn't want happening. Draxton is the ultimate Alpha Male! In every sense of the word and I LOVED him! Mmmm hmmmm mmmm!
There is much more to it that I don't want to give away nor do I think that I could ever do it justice. It's just my type of read and I loved everything about Drakon! It had all of the elements of an amazing book!

An ARC from netgalley for an honest review

I liked the characters and the idea of where the story was going, but it just wasn't a hit with me. It was a bit complicated to follow. I really wanted to like this book, I just couldn’t really get into it.

Description from back of book;Story:

Scarlett Kingfin was forced to run when her life went up in flames, literally. Her home was scorched, and her sister was missing. She was armed with nothing more than a set of coordinates and a fierce temper.
Her twisted path led Scarlett right into the lair of Drakon, the dark immortal dragon shifter. His kind owned the seas. Sailing through mystic barriers, they often returned home with their spoils—to the home Scarlett had forgotten. Much like she had forgotten she was his mate, the missing half to his fiery soul.
Strife, tension, and undeniable magnetism stand between the lovers when they’re face to face again. Her presence not only represents a broken royal vow, but also spurs a wicked prophecy of a lethal war between the immortals. Explosions, kidnappings, unveiled truths, and twisted rivalry shroud Draxton and Scarlett's every step. Their dragons deep within are invincible. Will the hearts of the man and woman be strong enough to survive the hell their rise will inflame?

This was my first book by this author and even though I didn't totally fall in love with story. She did an amazing job creating a great book world and grabbing your attention.

I hope you enjoy it.

,And as always……Happy Reading!!:)

What a shame!
I’d high expectations on this book, because the synopsis gave hope for a unforgettable shifters romance.
Unfortunately from the beginning I’ve understood that something doesn’t work.
The plot is very interesting but…
1) In my opinion when an author writes about paranormal, sci-fi or fantasy, he must consider that the readers know nothing about this imaginary world. So he must explain very well every aspect. Honestly I spent the first three chapters to understand what does it was the Realm and the Deviant World!!!
2) The main character, Scarlet, is a dragon shifter, but she has forgot everything about her real nature when she enters in our world. The author doesn’t analyse how does she feel when she discovers to be a dragon shifter. If someone tell me I’m a dragon and he proofs me that, I will be shocked. I’ll spend days to understand how and why. Scarlet has no significant reaction to this news.
3) Usually shifters are instinctive because of their wild nature. I agree but the relationship between Scarlet and Drakon goes too fast.
4) Overall I think author goes too fast on events that she should deep and too slow on events that are not so important for the plot.
5) The Style… I’m Italian so I’m quite confused. Until now I have no problem to understand English romances, but with this book something was wrong. Sentences are not clear, I found some grammatical errors… me?!?

That’s my opinion on this book, but it’s just mine…

Drakon was my first foray into dragon shifter books. And what a way to start! The author has her work cut out for her creating the world because its really multiple worlds. There were times things got a bit muddled and I found myself wondering if I had missed something. But, the plot is so twisted and developed you can't stop reading. You have to know how it is going to work out! Will they find her sister? What really happened to her parents? Is Clain bad? Who the heck is the bad guy? Who the heck are the good guys?!? The book is LONG so as sucked into it as I was, it still took me several days to read. This was difficult because I was already a little confused at times and then when I picked the book back up I was even more confused. But, it didn't ruin the book for me, so 4 stars!
POV: 3rd (this might be another reason I struggled. For some reason, I do NOT do well with 3rd person)
Heat: 4
Trope: Shifter, mortal peril, kidnapping, alpha male
Cliffhanger: No
HEA:

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

Scarlett was a dragon at heart. Truly a dragon. But she had crossed into the Deviant Realm with her sister, Kingsly, and they both became human. They were orphaned at 16 & 17 and since the agency in charge could not place them together, they had run.
In her dreams, Scarlett still soared with the dragon who would be her mate. She just couldn't remember those dreams. Through all the rough times and continuing to run to keep anyone who would be looking for her from finding her, Scarlett ends up traveling half way across the country to end up meeting her mate but neither knew the other in human form.

I really enjoyed this book. Scarlett finally finding out who/what she really is was quite a journey. The author keeps you engrossed until the very end. It was hard to put this book down. Just one more page. Just to the end of this chapter. You know how it goes.

Marie's Tempting Reads Netgalley ARC Review:

I was honestly prepared to like this story. The blurb drew me in and had me completely interested. Unfortunately, as I was reading Drakon, I actually found it a bit odd and confusing for the first part of the story. After that, things became a bit clearer and I was able to enjoy it a lot more. The characters are unique as is the storyline. I loved the action and the suspense and the romance. It was sweet yet sexy, and confusing and interesting at the same time.

To me, this wasn't a bad story but wasn't great either. Since this is only my first book I have read by the author of Reveca Beauregard and it left me feeling like it was at least a decent story, I feel that Drakon deserved at least a TWO AND A HALF STARS! Its unique characters and storyline is what really made this book decent and I will have no issues reading another book by Miss Beauregard. I can honestly say this book at least deserves an honorable mention.

This one was tough. I liked it, but it took a lot of concentration and filling in blanks at first, in order to comprehend what was going on. I'm fully confident that the author knew exactly what these worlds, families and various beings were and how they were all intertwined, but in applying it to the written word, there was a disconnect. It felt like trying to read a story looking through a milky window- I got hints but it was hard to fully grasp.
That being said, I persevered, and enjoyed the story. The fantasy vs reality of these two souls was interesting, and the growing realizations between them were both invigorating and sexy. Once the story got rolling, about halfway through, the overall picture became clearer. I still feel there were holes, (and the text is in need of some editing!), but I'm glad I continued to read this one!

The End, all of the questions are answered and everyones card is revealed. Scarlett finds what she was looking for and much more. The history of why is told and the bad guys are defeated. The very end was beautiful those that were treacherous paid the price of their evil deeds. Ultimately no one could stop Draxton and Scarlett. Their perfect union allowed Scarlett the power and mindset to avenge everything that happened to her and her family. The final chapters do a lot of jumping but the outcome was worth every difficult thing she had to endure. Things are as they should be and this was a beautiful read full of a pure and powerful love. If you are into alphas and hot hot sexy time this one is for you!

This is a great paranormal romance. If you have a love of hot, alpha males, dragon shifters, soul-mates then this is the book for you! RB has a great way of writing that will take you to a whole other world (literally) while you are reading her work of art.
While the characters can get… not necessarily annoying but will make you want to smack them upside the head, this is a great story that will make you fall in love with them regardless. While their lives can take place in two separate worlds, one dream scape where their dragons can roam free without worry and the normal human world, Draxton and Scarlett need to come together in both worlds in order to survive the fate that has been destined for them since the beginning.
Let RB take you on a journey that you wont forget to the Deviant Realm for your dragon to fly free!

A Totally Amazing Read!
I absolutely loved this book. The book started off a little slow but then once I got a little way into the story, BAM! I was sucked right into the story and held captive totally unable to put it down! The author has done a tremendous job with this one, the world that she has created, the characters, the writing, just everything. The read just flows so effortlessly, and the descriptions are so fantastic that you are transported directly into the story. I just loved how Scarlett evolves throughout the read, becoming this strong amazing female lead, and Drakon... what else can I say except yum! He is a total hot alpha that you don't want to miss! Set in both the human (deviant) and the ethereal (natural) Dragon world, this book weaves a tale of a love that spans two dimensions and is told from the two main protagonists POV. Scarlett and Draxton are royal dragon shifters that were mates in the natural dimension but when Scarlet follows her sister to the deviant world she forgets that the dragons and their dimension exists. Confined in the deviant world and running for her life, Scarlet and Draxton's lives collide once again in a mix of steamy chemistry, love, intrigue and stubborn fights. It is a complex story with many twist and turns in the plot, there is adventure, betrayal, sex and a story that takes you on a journey you won't forget.

I'm torn whether or not I really liked the book. I'm hoping it was just the ARC that I received otherwise the way thespeechwasalltogetherwhileinthenaturalrealm was very annoying. I found the book dragged in some parts and rushed through events in other parts. Is there to be a continuation because one battle isn't a war (that was prophesied)? The ending was so rushed it was disappointing. The book definitely had potential... maybe I wasn't in the right mindset to read it.. I don't know, I really wanted to love the book. It seemed like the book was focused more on the sexual tension and sex scenes than the plot.

Right I had mixed feelings about this book. On one hand I enjoyed following Scarlett's journey and I Loved her and Drakon's characters but on the other hand I was confused and couldn't get a grasp on certain things. It was like the author was trying to tell us too much at once.

The same with the timeline, I mean with in a matter pages it had been months and I didn't even realise it. At points it felt rushed.

However with all the bad things I still want to know what happens in the future. Weird I know. I just had high hopes about this story. I will look into other work of this author as I have heard good things.

This is brilliant read okay I was confused at first then it all started to fall into place. Following Scarlett through this book is intriguing to say the least. She comes off as a weak willed woman but she finally finds how to hold her own when she meets with Drakon. Now Drakon is pure alpha in both his human and his Dragon form. They both have to learn things through this but the fighting and the love making is pretty extreme. You will enjoy this book.

Given an ARC for an honest review. Do you like shifters? Well Drakon has a little bit more flare than usual. You get soulmates, suspense, frustration and a need for a shower at moments. Scarlette and Drakon's journey will put you on the edge of your seat. There is a feeling of love/hate for these two. Characteristics are written so well that you feel like you are one of them. Scarlette and Drakon pull you into their world and make you fall for them. Jamie Magee has done an excellent job with this read and it will leave you wanting more. Can Scarlette and Drakon have an HEA?

There are times Drakon knows he needs to give in to his woman especially when she's mad, "in a huff, he stormed across the room and picked her up. Before her justifiable protest made itself known, he was sitting down in the bathroom, helping her slide her legs to straddle him and shoving the clippers in her hand." I liked this book Drakon was a beast and I just loved him.
